Do you like Lady GaGa?
MAMA MONSTERRRR!! PUT YO' PAWS UPPP!!!!!!
That unoriginal, attention-craving, hermaphrodite? Heck no.
I find #2 to be mean and very untrue. And yes, I do like GaGa.
She's not my favorite, but I like her. I guess.
  Nope.

So, I don't tend to update it very often, but I have a Lady GaGa topic (clicky on the panda-phones).
Especially if you're not a Little Monster, I urge you to go take a look.

Oh and if you have anything about Lady GaGa that I don't have on there, please post it here or in the thread! I would really appreciate it.

So, something to discuss:
What do you/don't you like about GaGa?
And, who's your favorite artist/band?

Personally, I love everything about GaGa besides her occasional pee-yellow hair. And she's my favorite artist(:
But I also like Paramore, Jessie J, Every Avenue- ******** it, I'll stop.
I'm such a music whore it would take days to list all the artists I like.

I shall only say one ******** auto tuning.

That is all.

Her look is more interesting than her music. Which really disappointed me. I saw a photo of her before I heard her songs, and I thought she'd be this amazing futuristic space sci-fi rockin chick. Nope..I was wrong. Just average pop with lame lyrics (bluffing with my muffin...???)

Even calling her 'average' is being generous.

The only reason why she dresses the way she does is because when she performed her music normally, noone payed attention or cared because she was just another girl on stage so she started dressing half naked and what not causing people to pay more attention.

In theory Katy Perry was in a similar situation so she resorted to the same tactic.

All the more reason to dislike her. Artists that need to resort to a lame aesthetic theme to compensate for their lack of talent aren't worth bothering with, in my opinion.

I think that Lady Gaga has a remarkable voice.

[ ps, she doesn't autotune at all *fail* ]

I mean I get if some people hate her, but why bother tearing people down. Just let them do their thing. I mean she is obviously hugely famous and an international pop star, so saying that she has no talent is a lie, regardless of opinions or not. I would delve more into this, but I don't care to...

I agree with BrokenJanders. No need to be so harsh, you could simply say "I'm not a fan" and be on with your day.

But personally, I love Lady Gaga. She's one of the few pop stars who really puts her voice out there, on issues like DADT and Prop 8. Her music is catchy, fun, and not too serious. We need that in life sometimes. (:

I find her ridiculous stunts annoying. Oooh, a meat dress. Yawn. But her music is catchy.

Kesha still sucks, though. rofl

Mainstream success is in no way indicative of a person's talent these days. If that were so then a lot of what I listen to would be in the mainstream eye, and a large majority of that manufactured Pop garbage wouldn't even be given the time of day. Sure, maybe I'm not giving Gaga enough credit. At that point it becomes a 'to each his own' situation. I'm not ready to venture that way into music yet.

Also, as far as my methods of expressing my opinions go, I personally see no reason why I should respect your wishes regarding my method of expression if you can't respect the opinion that I hold and the way that I express it. Don't deny that you aren't either; the simple fact that you spoke up in protest about my opinion proves you don't respect it or the way it was said.

Oh, and by the way, yeah, maybe I stand corrected regarding the autotuning thing. But that *fail* comment? Yeah, that little smidgen of elitism makes me want to hate Lady GaGa even more. Even Opeth and Porcupine Tree's fanbases have more right to elitism, and they still piss me off.

She's an okay musician, but I could probably list several bands who have more talent. Of course I personally don't care about whether or not people agree or disagree. An opinion is an opinion and I'd rather just listen to all types of music so thumbs up and down. Besides, you can actually understand what she's saying unlike most of today's music.

Please don't use generalizations like that. They do your intelligence as a music listener no justice at all.

I think Lady Gaga is a pretty darn talented singer, I prefer her to some other singers (and I'll not name them here). Yeah, maybe her taste for fashion or things like that are a bit off, but that doesn't exactly matter to me, I could care less ^^;

Just sayin'

Seriously, the lady is a fine and refreshing pop musician when we were in a sea of generic urban pop two years ago. Sure, she still performed dance/pop music on her major debut, but I find the woman particularly varied and eclectic in some distinct fields. Influences from glam to disco to piano pop in the vein of Joel and John, etc show she's hardly as say standardized as the Kesha's and the Beyonce's of the soundscape.

While I don't think she's hit that right spot yet, but she's reintroduced eurodance on The Fame Monster (a european genre that hadn't had a crossover hit in the american market since Aqua.) so she has some credit and as the above videos show, she's a solid pianist and knows her octave and pitch range well enough that she doesn't need autotune of any shape. There is some minor inclusions of it on The Fame, but it's done for the production effect-- not the effect to get past missed notes or lacking in range.

I really want to see where she evolves from here on and calling her our generations Madonna may not be a stretch.

If that was a potshot at hip-hop, I'm going to slap you.
