The stallion stepped quietly through the woods, the night clear but terribly cold. A few inches of snow coated the ground in white, though fresh powder had been scarce. Every step he took made a new crunch, followed by the jingle and clinking of the chains he wore. With the shadow of night covering the world, the dark stallion made his way quietly, a nightmare come alive. Only the milky glow of the full moon painted him in silver; the reflection glinting off the metal chains that adorned his body.

The horned beast was quite a sight.

Step, clink. Step, clink. Shyam almost made a melody as he moved through the snow covered woods. He broke the silence of the world, its peace, and he couldn't help but be amused. So many people called him a monster, and while it was true, he was amused by the fact that even such a creature as dark as he could make music on such a night. There was still beauty in the world, eveneif he often stained it crimson with blood.

Stretching out his wings, the stallion paused to shake off some of the cold. He considered dodging in to flight, but his bandaged wings would make it awkward, and he was still healing from a recent battle. It wouldn't do him any good if he further strained the muscle or reopened the wound.

Hmph.

Snorting softly, the stallion flipped his wings back and once more continued on through the woods as a phantom of the night. He had no direction, no reason, or purpose. He was roaming again, and he was doing his best to forget about her. His angel that had abandoned him, his angel he knew he drove away. He had told her this, he had foreseen it even as she chose to stay. They had good times together, but she was in his life no longer and he doubted he would see her again.

Angels weren't meant for the likes of him.

There it was; her celestial companion, the only other friend she had at the moment apart from the sun during the cold wintery days. She looked at the moon, drifting along a cloudless sky, stars twinkling at her. If I could just fly away to the stars, she thought as she trudged through the night time woods.

Yamika had no idea how she had gotten to this point; well she did, but it seemed unreal, her family a memory, comfort and security all but forgotten. Now she was always on the move, constantly travelling, unable to put down roots as she worried about her Grandmother attacking anyone that sheltered or befriended her. So she stayed away from others as much as possible, feeding on the go and resting only when she had to.

She had probably long since lost Izusa, there had been no sign of the attacking Kalona mare for weeks now, but she was all jangled nerves now and still felt she had to keep going. This distant wood had seemed the quietest place she'd passed through in a while and so she'd finally slowed. As she continued to gaze at the moon she froze, a cold trail of fear running down her spine at the unusual noise that seemed to be coming from all around her.

Should she run? She couldn't decide which way to flee to, and so she stood stockstill, trembling from nose to tail tip.

Crunch, clink. Crunch, clink. Crunch, clink.

And then silence.

The noise had slowly been moving closer to Yamika's position when it suddenly died. No more movement, no more clinking of chains against body.
In fact, the red eyed stallion had stopped when his crimson gaze had fallen upon that of a stranger. He might very well have missed the female had her wing tips not reflected the strangest shade of color. Honestly, the stallion had to pause for a moment as he stared at the female from the shadows of the woods - she was ever most peculiar.

In fact, he found there were bits of her that seemed to flicker in the night. A sort of ghost-like pattern, really, as if she wasn't entirely of this realm. Was she a spirit? Hardly. But there was something familiar in the shifting, smoke-like essence that made up part of the mare. Something he had only seen once before, in only one other mare.

It had been a foal, a ghost-like kalona of a foal. She'd been red and violet though, and had almost been his lunch. Still, he had to wonder what sort of breed of soquili produced these ghost like creatures. He was curious, and while he never turned away a snack, he also wasn't exactly hungry.

Unusual really. "I see I'm not alone this cold eve." He broke the silence, shifting and moving closer to where Yamika stood stock still. There was the noise again, the crunching of his hooves and the jingling of his chains. At least now she could see him, and all of his strange and twisted glory.

When the noise had stopped and before she saw the large stallion for a brief moment Yamika thought that she had imagined the noise, or that it was just something completely normal and that her overwrought nerves had meant she'd heard it as something else. But then he moved, and spoke and she about fainted on the spot. How she managed not to was beyond her and for a short time she just stared up at him, her legs all a-tremble.

He was, she wasn't sure exactly what he was but he looked incredibly intimidating; from his horns, to the strange items draped all about him that moved and made the noise that she had heard when he was in motion. He had feathered wings, four that she could make out in the gloom, and a regular tail so he wasn't a Kalona, but she still wouldn't, couldn't relax as she had no idea who he was.

'..' she opened her mouth to reply, but it was dry and only after a couple of swallows was she able to speak, her voice cracking as she did so.

'I..uh, no, I'm just passing through, I honestly didn't know if this was someone's home. I'll go..' she said, worried that she'd trespassed on a territory.

Shyam couldn't help but stare at the female, amused by her obvious fear. She was literally trembling, but from fear or cold or nerves, he hadn't the slightest clue. Perhaps it was a mixture of all three. Still, a small part of him was secretly pleased that he could still strike anxiety and fear in the hearts of others. He was a big stallion, but many assumed he was harmless thanks to his duel set of wings. Still, he wasn't actually here to harm the female. . . not yet, at any rate.

For a moment he said nothing, still rather captivated by her whispy body. It was a bit disconcerting to look at the mare and realize he could see through bits and pieces of her. How unusual, really, but he knew soquili came in all shapes, sizes, and types. Perhaps this whispy breed was on the rise.

"I don't think this is anyone's territory, and if it is, I highly doubt they're going to bother us." Who in their right mind would? If he wasn't an unusual and rather intimidating sight, than the ghost-like mare would have to cause one to hesitate. They were both oddities in their own right, so it was safe to assume they wouldn't so swiftly be shooed away.

"You don't have to go so soon, if you don't wish, as you did just get here. You needn't pay me any mind, for I am but passing through as well." He gave his bandaged wings a bit of a stretch, listening to some of the bones crack under the strain, as well as show her that she had little to worry about. He was damaged, she had the advantage.

For now she began to calm, or at least tremble less. She was still on her guard, oh yes, she would remain so until she knew exactly who and what he was, and if she could she would find out if he knew her Grandmother, however tenuous a connection it was, she had to know.

He seemed to be staring, but she was pretty much doing the same. Yamika had no idea that as unusual as he was to her, she was to him - well, not so completely unique, but of that she also had no clue.

'Maybe not you, but I have every wish in the world to stay out of other's way.' she murmured, wincing as she heard the noise of his wings move.

'Should you do that? Shouldn't you keep them still until they heal..uh, I mean, I would.' she amended, realising she sounded as if she was not only concerned but that she knew him for more than a minute.
