God, my first, (and every face-up there after) was absolutely hell. I was so worried that I was screwing everything up and now that I'm good at it, I'm pressured into making the most recent one the better than the one before it. But it's sooooooo much FUN!

I did my first restringing on my own.
With a handful of hairties, and ribbons.
Now my husband just helps me and it only takes about 10 minutes<3 Yesterday we dis-con-bobulated Ko and sanded him, then I re-did his tattoo and we put him back together, he looks 100% better now @ 3@

I've never modded Key, I'm terrified to. I've had him close to a year and I only took him apart for the first time last weekend. even then I didn't remove his string, I left it in his torso. eek
I'm having my Elf Yder modded for me by a friend.

death_verboten How does the process go anyway? do you have any instructions as to how to modify the doll? Eheheheh sweatdrop Not really. The best thing you can do is ask around and read the modification forum on Den of Angels. Their FAQ should also have some info on it, but I never found any of it particularly helpful. Oh, another thing I learned: You really should sand a doll in a well ventilated area with a mask on. I did it on the couch in the family room (just removing a nick from Judas's big nose.) and man was I regretting it later on.

The first time I took Garrett's head off was quite by accident. I was tightening his string, which you can do without pulling him apart, and the little bar in his neck went FLYING, and I mean FLYING AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT out of his neck across the room, leaving his entire body in pieces on the floor with floppy bits of string holding him together. I was in tears. It took me, my father, a pair of pliers, a pencil, and some extra elastic to put the poor boy back together.
My first modify, though, was his faceup. He came without one, and I decided he needed some eyeliner. So I got out the paint set. I wasn't too worried until i realized that paint is a lot like liquid eyeliner....which can be a b*tch to put on evenly. So he ended up with several layers of black paint around his eyes. That, and worrying about how many layers of Testors to put on, and I was in hell.

omittchichao It would take all of my fingers and toes to count the number of times I've restrung Shou xd ;; My first MAJOR mod was on my revised Igon. Here's a list of what I did: -Opened his eyes -Sanded his cheeks -Opened his mouth -Reshaped his nose -Pierced one ear Other than that, I have a mod shop on DoA. I mostly mod hands and feet and do body sanding. I don't have a picture of my boy's seperated toes, but here are my boy's hands and here are the Lahoo hands I just got done with not too long ago. Other mods.. Umm I haven't tried faceups yet, hopefully when my Vamp Elf Yder gets here I will ^_^ So yeah, I'm like a total mod whore o_o;; I've never really had any bad thoughts about modding, it's always been fun *revs power tools* whee Quoting myself to make the links work. WTF is with them? O_o;;

LexehAnn Even with this, i'd be terrified to try and restring a doll sweatdrop I've never really restrung Key, I'm afraid to. I've taken him apart but I left the elastic in his torso so that really doesn't count. Also I use a wire to restring him and it KILLS my hands.

I took my SD13 apart, not knowing how hard it'd be to put her back together. I hurt many a finger, broke down crying, left her for a few days half unstrung until my boyfriend said he'll help. We got her back together ^_^ Now that I have a hound, I'm afraid to do anything like that with him sweatdrop

I haven't even attempted to restring Raziel, nor do I want to by myself. I only ever opened up his headcap, and even then it was only to look at what the inside of his head looked like. I put it back right after.
With Trixie, I've already opened up her headcap and placed her eyes in. I'm planning on unstringing her so that I can spray her with Testors, later, and then do her face-up, and then restring her. It'll be a heart-wrenching experience, I'm sure, but easier than if I were to try anything with Raziel. (anything "new" to me, I am trying on my NON-limited, thankyouverymuch)
EDIT: O_O. So, I was posing Raziel this morning, when it seems that the hook on his hand unscrewed, so his arm is now unstrung. Well, I nearly had a heart attack when his arm randomly fell apart.
Now I need to find some wire so I can restring the darned arm.
