Gnole had forgotten how expansive the forests of Woodhaven were. It wasn't too surprising considering that he had lived most of his life on the edge of it and the Meadowlands.
It was much different traversing these trees now that he couldn't see anything, having to trust the ferret healer he had met only maybe a week prior to be his eyes.
The badger had little choice in this though. Druvt, the ferret he now traveled with had saved his life and had been willing to come with him on his personal quest while tending to Gnole's head wounds.

As his legs carried him onward, his feet crunching the blades of grass beneath him, the badger's stomach was beginning to get the better of him. It was nearly noon or at least that was what he
assumed based on warmth of his fur though that may have just been the heavy cloak that Gnole wore heating his body.
His head turned upward, seeing if he could feel any of the light from the sun hitting the dark fur. None. That meant that it was indeed the cloak and that the canopy in this part of the forest was thick.

"I'm sure it's time to change these bandages." Gnole commented, expecting the traveling medic in front of him to hear or at least still be there.
Truthfully he just wanted a reason to stop and rest, perhaps against the cool bark of one of the giant trees that was only one in possibly thousands that made up Woodhaven.

Well, rest was not the only reason. Gnole's head was beginning to ache, specifically his right eye socket. He wasn't surprised by this, considering that there was nothing present on that side of his face anymore.

Tiny paws graced the nutrient rich soil as the petite rodent zig-zagged about through the tall grasses, pausing from time to time to peek up above the sharp ends for a gage of her location. A tiny smile curved on her lips, spotting her destination. Falling back onto all fours, Lova bound towards an open area with low baby grass sproutlings, and a hardy decaying tree laying on it's side. It'd been dying for a few years now, that much was obvious. Many fungi and bugs had taken refuge in and on it, sapping out the rest of the life from the grand conifer.
Slowing as she advanced closer to it, the delighted mouse let her eyes scan the trunk for what she had come to salvage. Ah! There it was! Round ears perking and swiveling forward, Lova lifted onto her hind quarters and placed a dainty hand on the aging bark. Right inside a large hole of the wood was a colony of collected mushrooms. They were no bigger than the female's own back leg. Sapphire eyes shimmering at the treasure that was found, Lova placed her front paws on the edge of the entrance, and hoisted herself up. Squeaking faintly as she tumbled inside, the depth more lower than she'd anticipated, Lova shook herself of the sawdust lining the ground. But her spirits were not dampened. Smiling softly to the precious huddled shrooms, the sweet mouse crawled to them, and pulled her satchel around to settle at her side.
"Hello, little one's.. do you mind if I take a few of you home..?" she spoke in a feathery whisper, pulling out a carved and tampered piece of wood that was shaped as a makeshift knife. With great care, Lova went along to harvest the soft and tender mushrooms.

Druvt had been walking quietly ahead of his larger companion, a large grin on his face as he scanned their surroindings. It was nice to be back near home after traveling for a while, and it looked much the same as it always had, and as always it always amazed him at how large the forest was. It was also nice to have someone yo travel with, even despite the terrible cirsumstances under which they had met.

The white ferret came to a halt as Gnole spoke. "Yes, they could probably do with changing about now.." He eyed the badger closely as he took his arm, nudging the larger beast towards a nearby tree where they could sit. "A bit of rest would do you good also, we have been walking for some time." He knelt and set down a small bag, pulling from it some clean bandages and a jar full of a green mush. "Don't want you pushing yourself too hard, you are still in pretty bad shape. Keeling over isn't going to help anyone."

Gnole huffed, putting his arm out to get a feel for his surroundings. Paws met bark and the large body slid down onto the cool grass underneath him, letting his half leather - half cloth cloth pool behind him. Usually he wasn't like this, usually he had the energy to keep going for a lot longer than this. It was almost embarrassing to need to rest so soon. He could barely even hear Druvt's breathing. The ferret was obviously in much better shape than he was.
Of course the badger dismissed it was just his body still recovering from his fight. Well that most likely really was the reason or it could be the fact that he was a little on the big side, even for a badger of his age.
He was still uneasy about having to place so much trust in Druvt, but there was little he could do about it. The other man was tending to the wounds on his head so he knew he should be grateful.
It was just hard for Gnole to accept help he did not ask for. His expression turned to one of a scowl as his arms crossed against his chest.

"It's a nice day and this seems like a well enough spot. Perhaps we could break to find something to eat?" Despite being slightly self conscious about his weight, Gnole could not deny his love for food regardless of what it was. The large badger could almost readily eat anything prepared for him even if it was the most horrible thing on the planet. Now if his stomach agreed with what his mouth enjoyed was a whole different story.

Successfully recovering a paw-full of mushroom slices from one in the colony, the minute rodent stashed away the pieces into her satchel, making it overflow. Giggling softly, she pushed down on the fluffy bits, forcing them down as far as she could before pinning the flap over to keep them secured as best she could. Twitching her nose, she gave a gentle pat to the remaining mushrooms and turned to leave.
Hoisting herself back up on the lip of the opening, she sniffed the air, and looked about to make sure the coast was clear; seeing that the area was still calm and tranquil. Scampering down the fallen trunk, Lova shook herself out as she touched the ground, adjusting the strap of her pack, and began on her next destination for possible herbs and ripe spices.

Bounding through the dark clad forest, young Lova kept to her ritual of scampering, pausing to listen and peer about, and continue on. It wasn't until she reached along the edge of the wood that she caught scent of something... or someone unknown. Freezing in her tracks, the little mouse dashed to cover of a juvenile tree, climbing skillfully and with ease up the moderate sized trunk. The satchel full of mushrooms did weigh her down a touch, but she'd adapted quick enough over time to make up for the clumsy addition. Safely winding her way up to a leveled branch, guarded by broad leaves, Lova took to gazing over the grounds towards what she'd smelt.
There!
Two large figures took refuge beside an old evergreen whose own limbs were far out of reach, jutting towards the heavens.
They seemed like a traveling pair, their fur looked weathered and seasoned from terrains and climates outside of the little habitat she'd grown up in. What curious attire as well... she herself had always been 'naked', not having many funds to buy anything glamorous, flattering, or useful for her petite frame. It didn't bother her too much, though. She was just content to be in good health, and have accessibility to plenty of food and water.

Watching them awhile, her curiosity piqued, little Lova leaned from side to side, and ducked her head a few times to get a better look. It seemed that one was injured... or had been. Those bandages along his eyes... was he blind? And the second fello. He seemed to be some sort of healer.. or herbalist, by the looks of those leaves strewn along his body. Perhaps a prophet? Either way, they both were allies of a sort. What brought them here to quiet Woodhaven?
