well, I went from playing Bb Clarinet, to Bass Clarinet, and it took a few days to get use to it. The bigger the clarinet, the easier it is to squeak. So you just need to get use to a bigger Clarinet, bigger mouth piece and reed. Plus, the keys are spaced out more, so you kind of need to get use to that as well. All the notes and fingerings are the same, but there is a fifth key on the bottom, that plays a low Eb. And there is the fact that the mouth piece is in a differnt possion. On a Bb, the mouth pieces goes in you mouth at an angle, but on the alto/bass/contra-bass the mouth pieces comes in straight on.

Basically, it's kind of easy, just watch out for squeaking. Plus it's heavey. and high notes over the break, are kind of hard to reach. But nothing practice can't help.

i actually think it's a good idea because bands always need a good deep sounding instruments like tuba and this instrument for the bottom of like the instrument pyramid (i kind of forgot what it was called) ^^"
