Lemme start by saying I'm Canadian (and proud of it) health care is "free" (we do have more taxes though, so in a sense we do pay for it) So money is not the issue here.
I might have mentioned I stubbed my toe a few weeks ago. Right after my wisdom teeth removal so around Jan 6-7. It swelled up nicely, turned every color imaginable, couldn't bend it etc. I'm ASSUMING, that's a break. Remembering the last time that happened, and the doc saying nothing can be done for a toe, just wear slippers avoid tight shoes, no physical activities etc. (skiing doesn't count, my toe is nicely protected in a boot ninja )
Well, here we are 3 weeks later, I can kind of bend it, the color is normal. But I can barely walk. I feel like I can, but then I accidentally put weight on it, jerk my foot up and scream something inappropriate. I'm starting to feel that it's getting WORSE. Is that even possible? Like every time I accidentally put weight on it, it actually gets even worse. So that I can barely walk at all now.
Should I see a doctor? What the heck are they gona do about it, it's a friggin toe! Also, may I say how amazingly frustrating it is that I can ski down runs that says *experts only, ski patrol does not patrol this area, you will be fined for your rescue* and come out with maybe a bruise or a scratch at worse. But I stub my frikkin toe going to the bathroom and I'm a cripple for a month...WTF!!!

If I go to the hospital it'll be at least an hour of waiting, probably 2 or 3. Or I can try to make an appointment with my doc. Who I haven't seen in two years, and she will nag me about never having gone for blood tests to come in for a check up. sweatdrop

Go to the doctor, tell your story, demand he does something about it.
You can't walk on it, it's ridiculous. Could be broken. It also depends on which toe that is broken. The smaller toes, they probably can't help you with. Just tape it together with the toes, en wear good shoes.
But if you want to know what's going on with your toe, and how you want to know how to get rid of the pain and such. Go to the doctor, they should help you.

Don't feel bad. We wait anywhere from 1-5 hours in at the hospital....AND we have to pay out the a** for it. I'd go. Better safe than sorry, if it doesn't heal right you could seriously mess yourself up.

Go to the doctor. It depends on WHERE the break is whether they can do something or just prescribe rest. I've known people who had pins put in for broken toes, so it's not true that they can never do anything for it. At the very least they should be able to tell you how to do some exercises to "rehab" it.

@Cowgirl. If I want my prescription renewed I HAVE to have a check up with my gynecologist. I think by law your doctor should make sure your healthy, they could get mad sued if it caused a problem.

PCOS patients have to work much more closely with their doctors because of the hormonal fluctuations mess with your vitamin D absorbing abilities, and makes you resistant to insulin. I have been PCOS since I was 12 also, but they didn't do anything about it for me until I was 21.
As for the US, the only time you don't wait 2-3 hours is if you're dying or heart attack or bleeding to death.
