Sleeping was something Aila had been doing a lot of, despite the awful dreams that consistently accompanied it. As an activity, it was something that usually kept her quite still. Though it was early in the evening, the room was dark, quiet, and distinctly devoid of the bird that watched over her waking hours, a silent pokeball taking his place on a nearby table. The girl flitted in and out of slumber, erring more towards the latter until her fluttering eyes noticed a shadow moving within the darkness, lowering itself from the ceiling. She blinked incredulously; her tired mind was surely playing tricks on her. A slight weight lighted on her stomach, and she instinctively focused more wholly on identifying what it was. A small thing, mostly round, with many... legs?
"Ah--"
"Na?"
A dismayed shout was what would follow the brief exchange, proceeded by Aila's immediate recoil and a displacing sweep with her arm comprising the majority of her autonomic response. She was unable to manage much of either of those, though. The sudden tensing of her body renewed all of the pain that had been subdued by days of perfect non-motion, and the previously serene recovery room was soon filled with both pained cries and indignant curses as the girl inadvertently set off a terrible chain reaction of motion that irritated each of her injuries.

It wasn't often that Claire found herself in the infirmary. Actually, she really sort of detested the place. But, unfortunately for her it was a necessary section, especially tonight. After her shift - and dinner - she had come down here on the doctor's orders for a check up on her left arm. She was very glad the cast had been removed finally, but the loss of muscle was incredibly vexing. The check-up had been to ensure that the break had healed properly and would continue to do so - because they're not completely, 100% healed when the cast removed, she was told - and to make sure she wouldn't injure it with the muscle rehabilitation.
After thanking the doctor and heading straight for the door, she couldn't help but overhear the sounds of pain and possible rage from some as yet unknown source. Unable to contain her curiosity - plus she was bored, anyway - she quickly followed the sounds and pushed open a slightly ajar door to a room. The small patient looked like she was flailing about, fighting with some... something. Frowning, Claire quickly snaked her fingers along the wall near the doorframe until she found what she was looking for, and swiftly flicked on the lights. Wait, she recognized that girl, didn't she? Yes, from several months ago.. What was her name again..? "Aila?" And what was that.. thing?

Claire would catch a glimpse of red, yellow, and purple as the Thing darted away, startled by the sudden light that filled the room. It buried itself in the sheets, biding its time.
The unidentified Thing wasn't the only of the room's inhabitants that was dazed by the ceiling lights, and Aila drew up her useable arm to cover her eyes - but Arceus did it hurt to do so. It was scarcely a few seconds before that same arm flopped back to the mattress as if to mirror the other. She registered that there was someone in the room, but another matter took priority over a polite greeting.
"Thing!" she explained, fumbling with her words but very clearly pointing to the pile of sheets that had formed with all her thrashing. "Bug thing! Get rid of it, please!"

Fortunately she wasn't dazed by the sudden amount of light filling the room, having just come from a blindingly well-lit hallway, so she caught sight of the flash of colors as it scuttled under the sheets. She cringed. Ugh, bugs. She quickly stepped into the room and firmly shut the door, lest the Thing try to escape, then quickly pulled a pokeball from her belt. Presently a chubby Pikachu appeared in a flash of light, and she picked him up and held him around the middle. "Bug-type under the sheets," she said before he could protest (too much), and the electric pokemon paused mid-flail to narrow his green eyes at the pile of sheets. "Strength. Get if off the bed first though and be careful." No way was she going anywhere near it. Odette had been her first choice, but a six-and-a-half-foot tall bird with probably a ten-foot wingspan would not be appropriate for a small room in the infirmary.
Claire then plopped the Pikachu on the ground, and Zeus immediately darted over and jumped onto the bed. He carefully stepped over where he thought were Aila's legs - he understood the concept of 'hospital bed' equals 'don't touch person' - then pounced on the pile of sheets on the end of the bed.

Aila watched the Pikachu expectantly as it approached with a running leap, picking its way past her and leaping into the sheets - only to have them emptily deflate under the pressure. The Thing had scuttled away somewhere.
"Ugh." She frowned at the offending sheets for failing to harbor the Thing. She didn't quite know what it was, but she knew she wanted it out, gone, dead. To the best of her ability, she arched her neck in search of it. Where could it have gone?

Zeus growled when he realized his target had disappeared - nevermind that he hadn't a clue what his target was besides that it was a bug - and quickly scanned the bed. No, it didn't look like it was on top of the bed. Maybe...
Ears flicking back against his head he jumped off the side of the bed to scour underneath it. Maybe it hid down here...
Claire flinched when she realized the Thing wasn't on top of the bed, it had somehow snuck out and disappeared, right out from under their noses. Ugh, bugs...

Zeus, on appearing beneath the bed, would find a String Shot aimed at his face. The Thing would skitter away after completing its task, seeking out a better hidey-hole.
The most painful part of it all was her intense and unfulfillable desire to peer over the edge of the bed and see what was down there for herself. Or-- No, the most painful part was definitely her hip. She moved her right arm to apply a slight pressure to it, hoping to massage away the burning sensation. All that thrashing around had really been a bad idea...

The Pikachu stumbled backwards and fell onto his back with a surprised squeal, pawing to get the stringy substance off his face. He flailed around a bit before grabbing at the sheets on Aila's bed, and used those to help. Once he was no longer blinded, the enraged electric-type dove under the bed and peered out through the other side to figure out where the Thing had gone to next. Now, now it was personal.
Oh crap, now where did it go? Claire leaned down to see if it was under the bed.. No, it wasn't there.. Arceus, where was it?!

The Thing was nowhere in sight - no longer tangled in the sheets, no longer beneath the bed, no longer anywhere visible. It had taken the Pikachu's moment of blindness to escape and had done so with all speed and stealth. Only the most thorough, scouring search of the room would reveal its sanctuary, but for the moment it appeared the Thing had no intent to reemerge any time soon.
Aila watched with all anticipation as Claire moved to see under the bed. "Is it down there? Is it gone?" She craned her neck but was unable to improve her view. Forget the Ho-Oh; the bug-type would be what would do her in, if only through overwhelming anxiety.

As Zeus emerged from under the bed, still growling that the Thing had escaped him so easily, Claire shook her head with a sigh. "It's not under the bed anymore, don't worry. I don't know where it went though.."
The Pikachu immediately set about on a thorough search of the room, ears and tail twitching as he peered around machinery and the other furniture that distinctly smelled of cleaning chemicals. He snorted in displeasure before scurrying over to look underneath all of the chairs in the room. Where did the Thing go..?!

Zeus's search of the machines and chairs would yield neither results nor hints. The Thing had effectively disappeared, leaving no trace in its wake besides the threads of the String Shot discarded under the bed. This was becoming less and less a point of concern to Aila, who was taking on the age old perspective of 'out of sight, out of mind.'
"Maybe it got out?" Well, but the door was closed, and the room was devoid of windows. There were always air vents, but wouldn't they have seen the Thing crawl up the walls if that was where it had headed...?

Claire frowned, taking a precursory glance of the room before moving further in. She didn't want to be near the Thing either, and didn't sit down in a chair until Zeus had checked it first. With a sigh she sat in a Thing-free chair and her eyes traveled over the small injured woman. "Maybe it did," she replied, though she didn't trust it at all. It was likely just waiting, biding its time until they were lulled into a false sense of security... "Anyway, how are you doing? Were you in the last raid?" Originally she'd been angry she couldn't go - now she couldn't be any happier, especially since Galactic had interfered. Arceus..
Zeus was clearly frustrated that the Thing had escaped without even a trace, so in his stubborn determination he continued to search everywhere in the room he could possibly reach. "Pika..." He would find it and then destroy it! That would teach it a lesson never to hide from him.

A faint frown pulled at her mouth in response to Claire's question of her condition. "I've been better," she said. "But I suppose I could also be worse, so I should be grateful..." She gave a curt nod, "Yes, at the volcano. I've heard that we didn't make off with Ho-Oh." Her understanding of the situation as it proceeded after the Sky Attack was limited to the knowledge that a battle had taken place and there had been a great deal of shouting. She wasn't sure how much more Claire would know considering the woman hadn't attended the raid, but it was at least worth asking.

"I suppose," she agreed, shifting a bit in the chair to get more comfortable. All that happened to her in the last raid she was in was just a broken arm. Things could always be worse though, of course, so she simply nodded. But Aila's last statement made her eyebrows raise a bit. "You don't know?" But she was there, how..? Oh, maybe the Ho-oh attacked and knocked her out or something, she'd heard it put up quite a fight and several people were injured. Apparently Aila was one of those few.
With an increasing frown she shifted again, this time from the uncomfortable truth of the situation, but mentally reminded herself that she was safe here - talking about it wouldn't put her in anymore danger than if she didn't say a word about it. "Team Galactic showed up and stole the Ho-oh, from what I've heard. It seems like the whole base is talking about it. Also, from my understanding of the situation," her brows knitted together thoughtfully, "there was an egg as well. That was recovered and brought back, though I'm not too sure of the specific details." It was hard not to walk anywhere without hearing at least a few people talking about it.

"Ah, them again." Her frown became more distinct. "I've heard mention that they were at the PokeBall as well. They should face us directly if they have business with us." Disdain seeped into Aila's tone as she spoke. That they would ruin not one but two Rocket missions was altogether unforgivable.
"I remember the egg." Mention of it brought the memory back to the front of her thoughts. The egg had been their first immediately identifiable objective upon reaching the volcano's bowl. "It's good that we managed to recover it." Or else the fact that Galactic had taken the Ho-Oh would have been even more unacceptable, not that she didn't already have a death warrant on their necks as it was. Let them pilfer her hard work? Yeah, right.
