Ever had been early, and for once he was absolutely certain that hadn't been a good choice. It wasn't that he minded the troublemakers coming out of the school, not that he was afraid of them or minded the looks he got.
It was the teachers that bothered him, and the tingling fear that someone might call the cops about a suspicious person lingering outside of the high school. He grumbled and fidgeted, at one point nabbed a kid to steal a cigarette, and generally moved around enough that he wasn't just standing there like an idiot.
At least he looked okay, in his least-torn-up clothing, black pants and a somewhat-faded tie. And that white hair -- plus the height -- would make it easy for Zac to spot him, leaning against a fence and finishing off a cigarette.

"Congratulations... you look like a pusher." He -stared- at the cigarettes and heaved a sigh. Unlike Dem he felt somehow less justified in snatching the horrid tobacco twig out of the twitchy visitors fingers.
He blinked at the tie. "... Should I have dressed up more?"
He was wearing for once a black polo shirt instead of one of his over used 'weekend t-shirts', but his last 'good' shirt had been used up the week before and his mother had... well, never mind what his mother had done to it, it needed washed to see if it could even be -salvaged- and the length of time made that dubious.
Grey Polo, black pants... and ratty sneakers... persistent things... but at least they were -mostly- black.
"Where are we going?" He added with another dark look at the cigarette.

He was sneaky; it made Ever jump, shooting him a look that was uncomfortable fading out to annoyed. He made a little sound and, after a moment, held the cigarette out toward Zac in offering. There wasn't much left. If he did snatch it away, Ever would forgive him. Probably.
He looked over what Zac was wearing with a teasing little sound, not quite rolling his eyes. "I have a little cash, we can go somewhere nicer than pizza, if you're up to it. Hopefully won't get glared at..."

Zac glanced at the tag end of the cigarette like you might stare at a loaded gun. "...nnn...no thank you." he managed to muster and glanced away. He was on some level curious what the HELL the appeal could be but he'd seen enough first time smokers to know that he'd probably gag and cough a lung out.
He did scowl though at the teasing sound. "It's not THAT bad...it's not a t-shirt... and my stupid button down got...." he trailed off unwilling to part with family information just at the moment, if ever. (no pun intended)

"Yeah, yeah, you're fine." He took one more pull on the thing and then flicked it into the snow, shrugging at Zac and offering a brief flash of a smile that faded out as he looked back toward the school proper. He started immediately away from it, reaching up to adjust his tie.
"I'm not good on fancy but we can get like. I don't know. Burgers somewhere." Which was, apparently, date-worthy to Ever. If this was a date. That still hadn't been determined. "I figured I could play it up nice, some..."

"I was expecting to pay, your offering was already nice." Zac said with all the decorum of a sledge hammer to a toe.
"Burgers work, just so long as its not tacos, I'm not ready to face more tacos..." He said with the sort of intonation that said there was a strange history in those 'tacos' and at the same time that he wasn't up to share it just at the moment either. "Do you know a good place for burgers?" He asked tilting his head, he half expected some converted RV with a weiner in a bun suspended from the roof, but while he'd love to condemn such a place right off the bat for the sheer number of flies he felt they attracted, some of them DID do amazing food.

"Um." He had to pause, now far enough from the school that he could pretend like he hadn't been lurking on the edges of the ground, so he wouldn't get nabbed as a 'pusher' or beat up by some troublemakers. He might have been older than them, but that didn't mean they couldn't take him. Easily.
"Well, I know...two kinds of places." He made a wobbling so-so gesture, flicking a look down at Zac. "I know places that are too expensive, and I know greasy spoons."

"..." Zac arched an eyebrow at the too expensive. How on earth could someone in Ever's situation know -those- he half wondered, but no one had ever said he'd always been this way.
"...I know some middle of the road...would you like one of those?" He offered. He half preferred little 'mom and pop' places anyhow, not too far above greasy spoon but not too over populated either, most people went for bottomless coffee and bacon so crispy it shattered when you bit it... or so he had concluded.

"I would be pleased to take you wherever you'd like." His expression was sober -- almost gallant, except for the lingering black eye -- but he couldn't hold it for long before one corner of his mouth twitched up. He couldn't even start in on the mocking bow, didn't make it that far.
"You just lead the way, and I'll do my best to foot the bill." Which still wasn't a promise, but dine and ditch would be exciting at least, right?

"... My hero." He said a touch sarcastically and was more than a little glad he'd added to his wallet the other night when he was picking up his fake ID.
He was more than a little leery that he could 'pull it off' all things considered but hopefully the lack of t-shirt and hoodie would add the the illusion of age where height did nothing to assist him.
"Alright... let's go see what kind of trouble you can get me into..."

Ever, at least, didn't look concerned about their prospects -- he carefully shortened his pace to match Zac's, hands in his pockets, trying not to fidget too terribly much. He wasn't a nervous teenager, after all, and this wasn't actually a date.
"...for the club, I, uh. I don't know what you'd rather." Planning ahead. He tilted his head, scratching at his hair, the one thing he hadn't put any effort into tidying up. "I mean, I prefer places without a cover charge, but it's usually nicer when they do have one..."

"I've never been so I'll have to take your word for it, how much is a cover charge normally?' He tilted his head up to look at the taller, older boy.
"How much are cover charges anyhow?... And... what kind are we most likely to get into... I an show you the ID I...convinced, someone to make me."

"Let me see." He shot out a hand immediately, palm up, to take the ID away from Zac and scrutinize it, his eyes narrowed and his head tipped. Trying to read, it was obvious his eyesight wasn't the best; he moved it to and fro until it came into focus, his eyebrows knitted.
"Neither of us are hot women, so it'll probably cost a few bucks to get in. And more if I have to coax the bouncer into letting you through..."

Zac made a small face. "Does it at least seem vaguely legitimate?... " he pondered asking about glasses but refrained, he didn't want to feel like he was in some way obligated to pay for reading lenses because he was being taken clubbing.
"I can help with the monitory arguments if it comes down to it...but that depends on how much dinner sets us back." He added quickly.
"And don't start in on the rich thing again ok?" He said defensively. "It's just taking advantage of... opportunities."

Ever shot him a look, bemused, and blinked down at Zac for a long moment before he grinned and offered the card back to him.
"Don't worry about it. I think you'll be alright, so long as you don't mouth off to the bouncer." And so long as Ever didn't, too. He'd be as good as he could be, bite his tongue, cover his mouth with both hands.
"Where's your burger joint? Or do you want my dive?"
