Welcome to the valley of The Thunderclap Tribe! You might want to make yourself known, as storms are known to pop up suddenly and the only shelter is the tribe's cave. But then again, why would you want to hide from the rain?

The Thunderclap Tribe lives in a valley, almost a bowl surrounded by small mountains. Their main home, where they share meals and sleep, is in a massive cave dug out of the side of one of the mountains, near the mouth of the valley. Inside the cave are several dens for the members to sleep in, as well as a den for the kits that is next to the Elder's den. The weather, for the most part, stays warm spring through fall, with frequent storms that are celebrated by the tribe and varying snow in winter. However, the sun is rarely seen and the sky is almost constantly overcast.
The tribe is a peaceful sort, with minimal hunting as they prefer to take what is grown plentiful by the rain. This doesn't mean there is no meat, of course, for sometimes the animals become too many and threaten the tribes main food supply. When this is the case, hunters are sent out as population control, and a big feast is held to give thanks to their 'Deity for a bountiful and special meal. The leftovers of this feast are stored inside their cave, through a tunnel and in a small chamber only the Elder is allowed to enter. These leftovers are rationed out in moderation, so the meat doesn't have time to spoil nor do the tribe members gorge themselves to the point of sickness.
Thunderclap worships Donar, Modeity of Storms. It is believed that as long as clouds fill the sky, their land will not dry out and Donar is happy with them. They do not worry about flooding, despite the rain that falls quite often, and they do not worry about tornadoes, despite the winds that sometimes seem threatening. They believe that if damage is done to their lands by a storm, it is to clear the way for new things to grow and flourish.
As far as personalities go, the member of the tribe are a diverse bunch. Pretty much any fox is welcome here, except those who wish harm or are disrespectful of nature. Foxes who will flourish in Thunderclap are those who like the rain, don't like a lot of sun, and can live with little meat.

Sarasa grew up in a big forest, with lots of trees and lots of sunshine. Her and a few close friends grew up like siblings, and they got together every chance they got. They would often make up adventures and stories and plans for the future, when they were big and could go explore. Mostly, they loved to hunker down in their favorite tree whenever it would rain or storm. Sarasa and her friends loved the rain, loved the thunder and the lightning, and even loved the wind that came with it and ruffled their little fur.
As the kits grew up, none of this changed. They always dreamed about forming their own little group, like a tribe dedicated to storms, but as kits they would always get distracted with something else. As adults, however, they decided to make this dream a reality. There was one big problem, though: they didn't know how to get a Modeity to watch over them.
This didn't stop Sarasa and the little group, however, and one day they set off on an adventure of a lifetime. After several weeks of wandering around, they found a small splotch of mountains, with wide path leading to a warm valley in the middle. What caught their attention about this place was the cloud cover that seemed to just hang over the entire mountainous area. They quickly decided this was the perfect place, and made camp in a tree.
That night, they voted on who would be their elder of sorts, and Sarasa filled the position. That night, a small thunderstorm blew through the valley, and a loud explosion rattled the foxes out of their sleep. When the storm died down, they climbed from their tree and found a big hole in the side of a mountain where lightning had struck it, low enough to enter and dwell in, but high enough that they had to jump to reach it. Working together, they cleared debris and dug out a few dens, as well as a tunnel that would lead to a place to store meat, since further in it was colder and the narrow entrance kept the temperature down so the meat wouldn't spoil quickly. They also discovered a nice-size spring nearby, with ice cold water flowing straight out of the mountain and into a sparkling pool. The place was perfect, and they called themselves the Thunderclap Tribe. They also decided that they would make up a Modeity, still fairly childish in their mindset, and decided upon Donar, Modeity of Storms, after a dream that Sarasa had as a kit.
Unfortunately, everything went downhill from there. Romantic interest sparked between Sarasa and one of her friends, and it enraged one of the vixens who was jealous. This vixen spread lies about Sarasa and her mate, saying they were just using the rest of them and that Sarasa had always thought herself better than the others. She took everything their elder-figure did and put a sadistic twist on it, and the others all fell for her lies. Late one night, as Sarasa and her mate prepared for sleep, the other members attacked. A fight raged on, tumbling out of the cave and into the valley. The members pushed Sarasa and her mate towards the valley entrance, determined to rid themselves of the two for good. As the last of Sarasa's paws stepped out of the bounds of the fake tribe's land, the winds began to whip up ferociously. A storm brewed and raged, and from somewhere in the back the valley began to flood. Before the other foxes could escape a giant wave formed out of this flood, engulfing everything and destroying the trees and wildlife. It swept into the cave, flooding it to the brim and spoiling the stored food. It swept up every fox, Sarasa included, and washed them far away from the valley so that none could return. Turns out Donar was quite real, and quite angered at the treachery of the made-up tribe.
When morning light came through the cloud cover, the valley looked like a disaster. All life was wiped out, or so it seemed.
What none of the other foxes knew was that Sarasa had given birth earlier that night.
Hanging from a low, stripped tree branch was a shiny red BCR. When it hatched, the kit dropped out and landed with a squeak before wandering off. A nearby tribe, maybe a weeks travel from the valley, found the kit and took him in, naming him Saar and raising him as their own. Saar often asked about where he came from, how he got in the tree. The elder of the tribe prayed for answers for the young kit, and was told that Saar needed to go back. Soon after growing to an adult, the red and black male did just that.
Saar arrived to the valley in the dark. He found and slept in the cave, and had a vivid dream. The dream was about the Thunderclap Tribe, how they had formed, how they had fallen, and how they pretended. When Saar awoke, Donar appeared and spoke to him, telling him he wanted Saar to re-create the tribe, only this time Thunderclap would have a real 'Deity watching over them. He took Saar to the edge of the cave and showed him what became of the valley since the flood, with the sun beating mercilessly down on it. Saar could hardly believe this was land in his dream. Now, it was so dry that the trees were merely barren sticks and the dirt was cracked and hard. The spring Saar had seen was simply a hole in the ground with not even so much as a thin layer of mud to indicate there had once been water. In the time it took the kit to grow up, the valley had become a desert wasteland.
Donar looked seriously at the fox, and made him a promise. If Saar would work hard to re-start the tribe and keep it free of violence, Donar would protect them and keep the valley green and luscious, save winter when all would sleep. Saar accepted, and when he awoke the next morning it was to singing birds, warm breezes, tinkling water, and a cover of clouds that protected the whole place from the rays of the burning sun.

Elder: SaarHunters: KemnebiGatherers: Scouts: SpireShamans: Carers: ArelaMembers: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Elder- The leader of the tribe, and the only one that can speak to the Higher Being. The Elder is responsible for keeping the tribe within bounds and making sure all is as it should be.
Hunters- These foxes are mostly the guard-dogs of the tribe. They enforce the rules if need-be, and keep the tribe safe from predators. If a prey-animal's population grows too large and threatens the vegetation, the hunters are the ones who take out some of the prey to keep things balanced and in check. They are to only kill when needed, and give thanks for every animal that falls under their paws.
Gatherers- The main food-bringers of the tribe. They are to know which plants, berries, and fruits are safe to eat, as well as which ones are poisonous or used in medicinal purposes. They are also to be skilled in the ways of food preparation, too keep variety in meals so the tribe doesn't grow board and revolt, which would spell out disaster for the valley once more.
Scouts- The scouts are sent out of the valley to patrol the boarders of the mountains and to communicate with other tribes. Information from the outside world helps the tribe to feel less secluded. The scouts are also in charge of bringing in any wanders or wounded to shelter and feed and give the option of staying.
Shamans- These are the healers of the tribe. When a fox is sick or injured the shamans are the ones who take care of them. They also take care of expecting mothers, giving them herbs to help ease their pains and sickness, and promote a healthy litter of kits. They work with the gatherers to obtain things they need and keep a stock in one of the dens.
Carers- These foxes take care of the kits, teach them the ropes of the tribe. They are to be knowledgable of all the tribal ranks so that the kits can learn at an early age. They also need to be good parental figures, so the kits will trust them to be there when the parents are away doing their jobs. As well as caring for kits, the carers keep watch over expecting mothers and their BCRs when they arrive, in charge of maintaining a stable and healthy environment for the mothers and newborns.
Members- The regular foxes of the tribe. While they do not have a certain job to do, they are encouraged to assist the others in any way they can. They are usually the ones who do the modifications of the tribe.

The lightning bolt is special to the tribe, for it is what formed the cave that houses and protects them, as well as strikes down trees for them to break up and take into the cave for firewood in the chillier winter months. Tattoo- The bolt can be placed anywhere and in any color or combination of colors, as long as it can be clearly seen. Jewelry- The bolt can be put on an earring, hung from a tail-cuff with or without a chain, or put on a ring to thread through a corset piercing on the back or tail. It is made of metal and can be any solid color.

Day of Cleansing- The first most powerful rain of the year. The foxes believe this rain is to wash away the old and the filthy, to make way for new and clean.
Day of Hearts- This is the day when foxes seek out a red flower to give to the fox they are crushing on or mated to. This flower is only found one day out of the year, in random parts of the valley.
Day of Spooks- It is said that the angry spirits of the original Thunderclap tribe haunt the valley on this day, and kits are encouraged to costume themselves and scare the adults to be sure they haven't been possessed. This is just silly games, of course, but the kits enjoy it and feel useful.
Day of Feasts- The tribe holds a giant feast in honor of the first snow, usually a month before the end of the year. The feast is of prey instead of vegetation, and helps to fluff up the foxes to prepare for the chillier weather. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Each time there is a storm, the foxes perch themselves in trees and sleep there if the storm lasts through the night. They do this in honor of the original tribe, and in respect for Donar for washing away the bad to make way for the good. They never fear the trees falling from under their paws, for they trust that as long as they give thanks to him, Donar will never bring them harm.
