Aila had made leaps and bounds in her recovery: breathing was no longer unbearably painful and she was now capable of focusing on more complex activities than staring at the wall. Not that that did her much good, seeing as the infirmary had been essentially devoid of patients and visitors alike. Now that she spent spans longer than half an hour conscious, she was beginning to be reacquainted with the feeling of being bored. She would have gladly taken feelings of boredom in place of sensations of pain, but no such trade-off had occurred, and she was instead left with both, though she was frequently given the mercy of one being more prevalent than the other.

Her present state was one of complete and total boredom, and even the intermittent voice of the sentinel of a Pidgeotto that perched just out of her range of vision could do nothing to amuse her.

The tall slender platinum blonde frowned, the motion in her lip was light, almost natural, neutral in manner however the twitch in her left eye seemed to carry the annoyance of her facial features. Brushing her long almost white hair from her deep red eyes the young woman sighed, she had training, rather personal training that she had to keep up on, then there was the matter of Ampule, her less than playful totadile. He was getting into the habit of being disrespectful towards other people, that was fine if said other people weren't her rank or higher.

Acacia paused for a moment, she was in her uniform and the well placed crease in her slacks snapped loudly with each step she took, Ampule lightly hummed to himself as the pair slowed near the entrance of the infirmary. The little blue beast snickered and jeered at the person in the room.

“Ampule---” she drawled with a well placed accented hiss on the edge of the name. “No, don't be rude---that person is hurt---you don't laugh at sick people---that is cruel. Come, you are going to learn a lesson, you blue meanie. Follow. And don't you dare 'taa' me either. Cause if you do, no more Acacia Ampule bubble bath time. Understood?”

Grumbling the small blue totadile folded his stubby arms over his chest while rolling his large eyes. “Toda, toda.” He stated firmly then smiled towards the tall gaunt woman. Grinning the blonde patted his head and sighed. Reaching over the fair skinned woman rapped on the outside of the door.

“Knock, knock, want some company?”

The Pidgeotto bristled slightly at his human's side, and Aila heard the warning sounds he produced. "Gui, soyez calme," she warned, the bird flattening his feathers in response but maintaining a scrutinizing glare on the pair in the hall, especially on that Totodile.

"What?" She shifted her head instinctively to view the door and immediately decided it had been a bad idea. "Ah, sure." She wasn't adverse to company and in fact might have appreciated a little bit of change in her otherwise incredibly, horribly, painfully (literally even) dull existence. Carefully she returned her head to its previous orientation, breathing out a quiet sigh as she did so. It was mildly frustrating to be unable to prepare the space for a guest.

Brushing her long bangs from her face Acacia smirked lightly as she paused for just a moment longer to lift a finger in warming towards her little blue snappy friend. Down casting his vision towards the floor Ampule shifted his weight from foot to foot then lightly nodded. Patting his head again the slender woman walked into the infirmary with large even strides, the small totodile held onto her pant leg following closely.

“Well, well, well,” Acacia drawled as she walked over to the bed and offered a small warm smile towards the woman on the cot. Absentmindedly the grunt walked towards Aila's medical chart, pulling the papers on the metal clip board from the foot of the bed the slender framed willow of a woman sat on the very edge of the bed. “Oooh, you have been in here for a while---” pausing as she flipped through the papers, she raised an eyebrow. “According to these they don't have you on any sort of anesthetic. Are you in any pain Miss---” inquired Acacia in a small tenor. “Aila?”

Aila was able to get a much better look at the woman when she approached the chart. It wasn't anyone she recognized, but judging from her behavior and questions, she must have been some kind of clinic staff. "I asked them not to use anesthetic," she replied. "It's too hard to think if I'm drugged." It was hard enough to think without pain-killers muddling her mind even further. She conveniently dodged the question of whether or not she was experiencing pain. Weakness wasn't a trait the girl particularly like to admit, regardless of how true it might have been.

“Hm, I see. Well, to each their own, as a patent you are allowed that right. Though, there are other options for coping with pain that do not involve pharmaceuticals.” Worded Acacia airily, crossing her long legs at the knees the blonde ran her left hand into her hair tucking a long unruly lock of lavender tipped white behind her ear. “Where are my manners. Sorry about that, my training got the better of me there. My name is Acacia, I would say it is nice to meet you, however by your body movements I can tell regardless that you are less than happy at the moment and are indeed in pain. But again, to each their own.”

Cheekily grinning with bleach white teeth the Rocket grunt named Acacia folded the medical chart closed and slid it back into the proper spot. “Ah, and this---slightly too quiet---almost eerily so--- totodile is Ampule---normally he isn't---” confusedly gawked the lithe framed blonde as she slowly stood up from the edge of the cot while looking around the room. “Where he is supposed to be---actually that is normal---” Frowning deeply Acacia raised her left hand to her face and dragged her long fingers over her face.

Toda? Taa?” Cheerfully questioned the little blue pudgy water-type as he peered at the two women from a cabinet holding several lollipops in his grubs and maul, toothily smiling as if the action of the grin was the question 'am I in trouble mommy?'. Folding her arms over her chest she snapped her fingers and lightly tapped her foot. Scrunching his head into his neck some the totodile sucked in his lip while waddling over to the undergraduate.

“You know better, there could have been chemicals in that---bad Ampule, bad. Come here.”

Sulkily dragging his feet the blue pokemon stopped a few inches away from Acacia, bending down the slender girl picked the water-type up and held him. Petting his snout some she held him, protectively.

“Sorry about that---he just goes crazy for sugar-free lollies.” Pulling one out of his hand, making sure it still had the wrapper on it she held it out to Aila smiling brightly.

Her expression might have betrayed the curiosity Aila had towards hearing these other methods, but her pride forbade her to pose the question. Even if was obvious that she was far from top form, she refused to embarrass herself by admitting that. "Aila. A pleasure to meet you as well." She made a point in saying as much, as if to refute Acacia's appraisal of her state, despite how true it might have been.

"Pidgee, geotto." Gui's stern glare seemed to suggest that he would prefer if Acacia kept a closer eye on the Totodile. He scarcely appreciated the little water-type's shenanigans, and he would have no problem putting it in its place if he deemed such action necessary.

"Gui, que faites-vous? Ce sont des invités," the girl reminded, her tone slightly berating. The Pidgeotto ruffled himself indignantly. "I'm sorry. He's been this way lately. It seems we have a pair of troublesome pokemon in here." She watched the Totodile in Acacia's arms momentarily, remembering that Liam had a Feraligatr but having no distinct recollection of having ever seen its pre-evolutions. She started slightly - more mentally than physically - when she realized that something was being held out for her. "Ah, I'm sorry. I can't move my arms right now." A faint redness rose in her cheeks at the admission. She was nowhere near used to being so completely helpless.

Acacia stroked her own jaw with her lightly polished fingertips as she quirked a slender eyebrow towards the woman laying helpless on the cot. Ampule knitted his ridged brow together as he fluttered his large eyes towards the large bird, he didn't seem to understand why the larger pokemon was being so hostile towards him, he just wanted a lollipop, they were amazing treats that lasted a long time if he didn't bite on it. Acacia had always given him the flavored treat when he had been good, he was just being thoughtful and getting enough for everyone, what was the big deal? He would never understand humans or older larger pokemon. Lightly sucking on the candied tips Ampule decided it was best to just not to move.

Lowering the totodile back down to the floor Acacia shook her head slightly and moved to the side of the bed so that she could get a better view of this amazingly injured woman. “It seems we have our hands full, but it shows personality and strong will of the individual, or so some pokemon experts say,” She wanted to add 'so does my mommy' but just offered a smile instead. “Ah, French by the way, not my strongest of languages but I think I caught the basic gist of what you said, Aila. Still it is a very beautiful language.”

Reaching out with tender grace Acacia lightly loosened some of the wrappings on the injured female Rocket, with the loosening great relief from the pain would wash into the woman. “Was a machoke your nurse? I could do better than this when I was nine years old. Um---” trailing off for a moment the slender blonde ceased her administration to Aila. “Do you mind if I take a closer look at you. Would you like some music, or I could wheel in a television for you. Maybe something to drink, mostly citrus or ginger ale instead of all of these gross intravenous fluid drips? Heh, I promise my medical study is up to par for therapy. If you don't believe me I can go back to my room and get all of my certificates.”

Aila, remembering her other trouble pokemon, found her lips pulled into a slight smile. "It's certainly a great success to get such tame such troublemakers. I have a Mismagius that was a terrible nuisance for the longest time, but she's been doing much better lately." The thought led her to wonder about her other pokemon. The five had been taken from her presence and given to someone who would see after their care while Aila recovered. Only Gui, who had escaped from his pokeball and raised all hell after being revived, had been allowed to stay with the trainer. "Your Totodile seems willing to comply under the right incentives, so I should think the two of you will do fine." Not that she was anything of an expert or had any kind of substantial experience in the area, but that was what she felt.

"I would agree, but I may be a bit biased," she said at the mention of her French. It was, however, rather rude of her to speak a foreign language so suddenly, so she explained, "Sorry, it's all Gui understands. Or at least, it's all he'll respond to." The Pidgeotto uttered a curt chirping sound at mention of his name but otherwise continued to watch quietly.

"Ah, no, I wouldn't want to be a bother--" She winced in anticipation of the searing pain contact usually caused and was pleasantly surprised when the throbbing sensations instead decreased. It was unbelievable how incredible each of Acacia's suggestions sounded when they were each fairly mundane things in nature. The girl never thought she would so delighted by the thought of music or juice, however...

"I don't... want to be a bother," she repeated, although somewhat reluctant to do so. Being useless to herself didn't mean she should be an inconvenience to others, after all.

Laughing lightly behind her hand the blonde stood up, evenly Acacia stepped away from the bed very closely followed by the blue pudge ball. “Don't worry about it, you really should not worry so much about being a bother. Really. That is why I am here after all, besides, the longer you are here, the longer you aren't out there. As a Rocket your number one priority should be getting better. And if I can do anything to speed up that process, I will, no bother whatsoever to me.”

Strolling across the room the medically inclined blonde walked over to what seemed to be a small closet, slipping her hand into her pocket the overly-thin girl pulled a set of keys from her black slacks. The two keys on the small loop were color coded and labeled. Lifting the key that was sheeted in white Acacia opened the locked door, within a few moments of the sound of items being shifted from shelves onto something metal lightly filled the air.

Only a few moments passed before the blonde with lavender tipped hair reappeared, helping her push the small metal cart Ampule toddled while smiling a large toothy grin. “Alright, Aila. I have a few things here for you, lets see, I have several cup juices, some crackers and fig cookies, and a small radio. There is a remote so it will be easier for you to use, and I am sure that Gui wouldn't mind helping you if need be.” Pushing the cart to the side of the bed, the gaunt framed beauty gave the woman on the bed a charming smile.

“Now, what sort of juice would you like, we have pear, orange, mango, apple, and ginger ale. Also, I could get you some milk if you would like. Have they even allowed you to begin eating solids yet?”

She pursed her lips thoughtfully. That was true. It had been against Aila's calculations that she would return from the volcano with such a grave injury, and she worried how it would affect her strength and agility to lie so still for so long. Even so, it seemed a poor excuse to bother otherwise uninvolved individuals, but then again this woman was obviously clinical staff... It would be difficult to fight against her innate aversion to relying on others, but if she didn't manage to do so then she would be severely limited.

Gui became irritable again when he heard the stranger speak his name, unable to decipher the words she had set. Aila translated a summary ("Détendez-vous. Elle a dit que vous pouvez aider.") and he settled down once more, though his expression remained clearly suspicious as he studied the items Acacia had pulled from the cabinet.

"Ah... Maybe... orange?" She remained hesitant to ask for anything, but it didn't seem as though Acacia would accept her refusal. "And no, they haven't." It hadn't been long since they had allowed even non-solids into her diet, and eating in itself continued to prove an embarrassingly daunting task; though her right arm had remained intact, moving it aggravated her other wounds to the point that any kind of precision was very nearly impossible. It was quite possibly the most frustrating situation she had ever encountered.

Lifting her hand up with a cup of juice the slender blonde popped a straw into the foil lid before holding it out for Aila to sip. For a moment the slender willow of a woman tilted her head towards the bird-type pokemon then smiled lightly.

“Ce qui est mauvais Gui, je vous assure que je n'aura pas blessée. Faites-moi confiance. Je ne suis pas le genre de femme à tort une autre, en particulier un si jolie.” She affirmed in a small voice, the accent was less than well-trained but for the most part her French was decent enough, she didn't butcher the language but it certainly was something that was taught and not natural to her. Slowly leaning forward she brought the straw to Aila's lips. “Drink it slowly---” Acacia stated. “So how did you end up like this anyhow? Was it the last Raid? I heard about it a little bit, but I was still a trainee up until---” she lightly blushed as she cleared her throat. “Yesterday.”

Gui blinked, startled by his own comprehension, and responded with a brief "geo." Her words allayed a number of his suspicions but also ignited a few new ones, and he relocated his perch to one of the bedposts near Aila's head. There was no guarantee that the woman was telling the truth, after all, and he would continue to stand as his human's attentive guard until any and all potential danger had passed.

Aila had already missed the majority of what had been said before she realized Acacia had been speaking French. It was vaguely surprising, even though she had alluded to an ability to do so earlier. She considered making some comment on the matter - it was exceedingly rare that she had the opportunity to converse in French with others - but then there was juice and a question. The fingers of her right hand fidgeted with the bed sheet. The last time someone had needed to hold a drink for her was when she was a toddler, and though circumstances found her increasingly uncomfortable, she felt obligated to oblige the offer, "Ah, um... Thank you." On Acacia's advice, she drank in small, slow sips. "What? Yes. The raid." She pressed her lips together in quiet consideration, attempting to recall the muddled memories. "Sky Attack, from what we suspected was a high-leveled Ho-Oh. I wouldn't recommend it." Not that she would recommend being injured at all, but mutilated by a legendary fire bird was slowly making closer and closer to the bottom of her list.

The medically inclined blonde smirked slightly, Aila was an odd one. Very feisty, Acacia never really understood why some people were so bullheaded about receiving medical treatment. It was irritating to a small degree, she had never had amazing bedside manners though she was far from being brash with her patients.

Tugging on her long black pant leg the little totodile nuzzled against the lithe framed girl, he was bored and the large bird-type pokemon was beginning to make him nervous. Leaning down Acacia patted the top fin on the little blue creature's back, he was behaving and she would owe him some water time later on in the evening.

“Intense. An Oh-Ho, huh? Erm--- I meant Ho-Oh. Wow, that is totally something that I wouldn't want mad at me. Though I wish I could have gone on the raid. Nonetheless.” Declared Acacia in a whimsical tenor. Stepping away from the bed the former medical student pulled a small chair out for herself and sat down rather than on the bed. Crossing her legs at the knees the light haired grunt relaxed, eagerly Ampule lifted himself up so that he was now seating in his owner's lap.

“You're sticky, you're going to need a bath sometime today little mister grubby paws.” Bemusedly chuckled Acacia as she coddled the young pokemon in her lap. “So, tell me a little about yourself Aila, if that is alright?”

"It was beautiful, though," she said. "The bird, the volcano, everything. I'm glad I had the opportunity to participate, even if meant I would wind up like this." Well, the last part may have been a bit of an exaggeration, but she did feel a distinct sense of pride in having contributed.

She watched as Acacia seated herself and as the Totodile crawled into her lap. Her question drew a slight furrowing of her brow, though. Tell about herself? Was the woman as bored as Aila? It seemed impossible that she was really that curious, and to begin with, it was a terribly broad question. "You mean since I joined Rocket?" she assumed. It was a good starting point, at any rate. She didn't feel particularly inclined to go into family life after all the nightmares that had been plaguing her sleep. "Um, I joined about half a year ago. I worked for a few years as a freelance thief before that. I primarily stole valuable gems, if it's of any interest to you." What was of interest? Aila was floundering trying to pin down the exact question.
