A splatter of green acid soaks through your clothing, burning your skin while its reek attracts a scrambling hoard of clawing hands and lifeless eyes. A roaring cry slices through the night, and a hooded figure jumps you before you can raise your gun, tearing your insides free flourishingly. Desperate sobbing leads you to the shuddering form of a woman - until your flashlight sends her into a fit of rage, massive claws scraping the flesh from your bones. A shudder runs through the pavement beneath your feet, and your comrades crouch low to the ground, hurrying to reload their weapons as a massive, muscled beast comes barreling across the street, heaving a chunk of concrete over your head.

Each chance at escape is thwarted by the Infected. Each safe house provides only ammunition and medical supplies, cryptic warnings and discouraged messages scrawled on the walls. CEDA and the military offer nothing but lies - and locked cells, even certain death, if rumors on the wall can be trusted.

Hack your way through miles of screeching Infected with a machete, splattering blood; scramble through torrential downpours, heavy swamps, overrun airports, an abandoned train station; struggle through zombie vomit, the snatching length of a Smoker’s tongue; fail again and again to achieve even temporary safety, the infection claiming even the sanity of some of your would-be rescuers…

You are a warm-hearted Southern mechanic; you are a strong-willed newscaster; you are a college drop out with nothing but horror movies and a few afternoons at the shooting range to help you now…

Welcome to Left 4 Dead. We’ll see you in the next campaign - if you can make it that far.

User Image» About Left 4 Dead »
Left 4 Dead (as well as its sequel) is a first person shooter, in which a team of four characters make several attempts to seek freedom from zombie-run America. CEDA - the Civil Emergency and Defense Agency - failed to contain the mysterious Green Flu, and further failed to evacuate every citizen before being overrun by the Infected. In each game, the survivors featured take several different routes to escape, with Safe Houses - designated rooms barricaded against the Infected and stocked with supplies for survivors - to aid them in their travels.

Finally finished L4D2, which, to be honest, was a thousand times better than the first one. Though the team from the first game felt more connected during play (seemed to me, anyway), I found Nick and Ellis to be, overall, more engaging, and not even just because I’m a Nellis shipper. Coach and Rochelle sucked balls as a support system.

Definitely like the special infected in the second game. Spitters and Chargers are my favorite to run into. After I got the hang of aiming, Tanks and Hunters and Smokers became more of a nuisance than anything. Chargers’ll ******** my s**t up worse than a stupid-a** Tank.

And, for ******** real, Hard Rain is the BEST ******** thing on ANY ******** game EVER. I can and probably will play those levels over and over forEVERS.

I agree with liking L4D2 more than the first, but I think the characters from the first game are definitely a little more refreshing as far as it being a survival, team-based game. Like, you feel like your back is covered more in the first.

I do enjoy the whole, you're on your own, feel with the 2. With all the additives of the new Infected and the complexer levels it amps up the difficulty of it. Plus, it's always fun to have that, "We'll make it through this, man" thing you get when playing as Nick or Ellis and you're constantly having to help the other out while Coach and Ro are off saving themselves from a Smoker or Jockey.

Also, your intro for the game gave me chills, Naz. Awesome wording.

I love Ellis's "we are kings of the WORLD!" comment at the completion of almost every level. I swear to God slamming that saferoom door shut is like a mini-orgasm of relief. But Ellis sounds so elated that even when I'm like "omfg hated that levellll" he cheers me up. <3 Again, another reason I like L4D2 more.

Yeah, the levels and environments felt more engaging in this game. The only part of L4D1 that stands out to me is getting on that boat, with the Tank raging up the dock after you. I could play the concert finale a thousand times and not get bored lol. XD

I think we should replay the game on Advanced before tackling Expert. I'm okay with Expert until a slew of commons come -- then I'm ********, because I suck at shooting and dodging at the same time. sweatdrop

I think we should upgrade to Expert because when I was playing it the other day I actually got a bit of a rush sweeping through the first few levels of Dead Center. Like, I love games that have me on edge, and it's pretty literal when I'm trying to run across the ledge without getting taken out by a Charger.

That has to be one of the best, albeit underrated, levels in the whole series. The whole hotel concept is badass, but for the building to be on fire and making the player work their way through towering fires and billowing smoke is ******** awesome. I really enjoy the additive of the characters not knowing one another. I just ******** love the whole, "First time meeting" thing with Ellis and Nick. That goes in their thread, but s**t I love him calling Nick, "Sir" and Ro "Miss" even though they aren't really that much older than him.

I wish that Nick and Ro had some sort of line to be said during the concert because the whole El and Coach singing is such a fun Easter egg type thing. S'like, ******** let El sing the whole damn thing with Coach doing the guitar noises in the background. Listen to that ********' zombies.

And I wanna know who the hell performs those two non-Midnight Riders songs on the jukebox, like bad. That ******** zombie one cracks me up every time and I really want to know what the tiny loli voiced one is saying.
