Tanner had a habit of looking out of place no matter where he went, but this time he must have been quite the sight. He had been to this area of Hallowmarl before, and was just certain the entrance to the tunnel he was looking for was nearby, but he just couldn't locate it. As a result, he was kicking up his own personal dust storm as he would scratch in the sand with a talon before spreading his large wings to lift up to another spot to scratch again. The gusts from his wings would make quick work of the piles of dust he created, scattering it into the air creating a dirty cloud that could be seen from quite a long way away in the flats of the desert. He hopped about in frustration when he realized he looked behind him and realized he couldn't even tell where he'd searched already because the sand had smoothed over from his own beating wings.

Leandar meandered out of a tunnel, the entrances and exits were many, and he only knew a fews location by heart. It was indeed hard to keep track of them, because of the shifting sand, and occasionally they temporarily went missing, covered by a sand dune. At any rate, the sun was high in the sky, and the cat almost regretted exiting the underground tunnel system, but home was nearby. The wildcat had made his home underneath an elephant tree's roots. Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted Tanner, digging for something, he stopped, and called over to him; "looking for something?"

Tanner startled at the voice, he's been so wrapped up in his digging he hadn't noticed the wildcat. "Oh, oh! 'Ey there!" he called back to Leandar before taking off and landing nearer so he didn't have to shout. "'Ey, kitty, do you know where the tunnel where they store those tasty cactus berries is?" He smiled a charming smile hoping this stranger would tell him.

Leandar displayed an awkward smile while he thought for a moment... Although he was a friendly cat, he was not willing to take from his tribe and give to a stranger. At least the wildcat thought he was a stranger, but Hallowmarl was a vast land. "What tribe are you from," Leandar questioned curiously, watching intently for signs of deceit.

"I don't associate myself with any clan, I live in Mossflower." He looked a little puzzled, "are you from here?" he inquired.

Leandar must've had a confused look on his face as his brain processed the bird's words. "Yes, I am a Hallowmarian, but I was unaware that there were individuals who don't affiliate themselves with any clan." The idea was simply unheard of to the wildcat and preposterous. Retracting his claws, and taking a stand on two legs, he stroked his chin with a single paw before speaking once more. "Why don't you join a clan," he questioned.

"Eh," he shrugged, "just never found a home that called to me, I guess. My dear mother wasn't in a clan either, but she never would tell me why. So I guess I just had too many friends from too many different places that I couldn't just pick one!" He chuckled a bit to himself before turning back to the wildcat, ".....so....?" he inquired expectantly.

Leandar smirked, "Hallowmarl would be a terrible place for a bird. You winged sky lovers. Just trust me." Only a true denizen of the Hallow could truly understand why there were very few birds who lived in Hallowmarl. To live ones whole life underground when they yearn for the sky would be horrific. The wildcat plopped down a few yards away, under the cover of a lone tree. Every once in awhile there was a tree, but they were incredibly hard to come by. Leandar purred, commemorating his good luck, he laid down in the shade of the tree, and called over to Tanner, "come over here, relax for a bit."

"'Ey, yeah, I know. I've been down in your caves before. I could hardly stand it," he shifted from one foot to the other, realizing just how hot the sand really was this day. He was also tired from the search, so he conceded, "I don't mind if I do." He settled himself in a shallow spot between two roots of the tree. "'Ey, what's your name, kitty?" he inquired.

"The names Leandar," he replied cheerily to the avian. Thinking to himself, he wondered how to bird managed to enter Hallowmarl's tunnels, but his worries were quickly quelled when he remembered the bird mentioning he had a lot of friends. The clouds passing by overhead moved in front of the sun, providing a far more expansive covering of shade. It was glorious. "Tell me, what is your purpose in this world. What makes you happy?" Most people would've asked Tanner's name in return, but being the hedonistic wildcat that he is, Leandar asked only what he truly wanted to know in the moment.

Tanner pondered a bit, "That's quite the question, new friend Leandar," he remarked. "I guess I'm just a little bit of a philanthropist when it comes down to it. I like to look out for the little guy." Which, considering Tanner's size--even for a raptor--meant quite a few of the forest creatures. "What about you?" he returned the question, "What's your lot in life?"

Leandar smiled when Tanner uttered the word "friend." The wildcat sat up, leaning back against the base of the tree. "As of late, I've been feeling quite the same, which is why I started the Hallowmarl Court. A club whose sole mission is to protect the citizens of Hallowmarl." The feline spoke passionately of his newly formed group, and his words would be dripping with that passion. Yawning Leandar continued, "I go where the wind takes me."

Tanner laughed, "Ha ha! Shouldn't it be the tunnels... or the sands? The winds carry birds to places, not kitty cats!" Tanner found the concept far more amusing than he really should, but that was just how his simple mind worked.

Leandar laughed too, he liked to laugh, moments were you're laughing can never be bad, the wildcat thought to himself. "Tell me stranger, where did you get those awesome threads? I've been wanting some clothes myself." Leandar found his eye drawn mostly to the bird's scarf.

Tanner lifted the end of his purple scarf with his wing, "oh these," he brushed a bit of dust off of it with a feather from his other wing, "I got them from some Fleuvian friends when they visited Mossflower. They owed me a favor, and this was how they repaid me." He shifted in his seat, "It's rather warm attire for Hallowmarl, though. I maybe should have left it at home," she fidgeted some more, suddenly realizing that he had grains of sand wedged between his feathers. "The hat's good for the sun, though," he added as he started to use his beak to clear the offending grit.
