Arachne was at a loose end again; she'd lost her place at several classes thanks to having to leave the Academy for a family emergency (her Grandmother had taken ill). The old demoness had insisted that her granddaughter had returned home for nothing, and sent her back forthwith, chiding her that her studies were more important than anything. Especially if she was to become the next seer in the family, the one that represented the female line and the one that represented the family in all far and foreseeing duties.

She wasn't happy about being back; she'd made so few friends and they were all busy with classes and homework, and despite her self assertion that she didn't need them, she was finding herself alone in the demon common room more often than not. Well, hopefully - as she laid out a tarot card from the pack on the table and looked at it closely - hopefully she would catch the signup period for some new lessons and start to catch up with her studies.

Arachne flicked at the card that she'd laid out, frowning at the rectangle that lay on the tabletop, taunting her with its wrongness.

'The Lovers? Don't make me laugh..' she muttered, crossly picking it up with a gloved hand, bending it slightly as she jabbed it back into the pack.

Gabrian had swiftly realized that perhaps... just perhaps, he had enrolled into one too many classes. Despite the fact he liked to believe himself to be a naturally good worker, he also felt the need to drop things and take a breather quite often. After having locked himself up in his dorm room (turning off his Predator computer so that groanspring would not distract him - dear Jack was that thing addictive), he now felt the need to simply disconnect. He'd pondered going to the Monster dorm in an effort to seek out LW, Ren, or Alessa, but had swiftly decided against it. If he went to the Monster dorm, he very much doubted he would be coming back to his own that day. Somehow, whenever he went, he usually ended up sleeping in a comfortable, warm, furry pile of animals and pillows while in serpent form. The fact that he was becoming fond of that was almost scary in a way, but that was not the reason he was avoiding the place; it was the fact that after this breather, he was going to have to go back and study some more.

As such, Gabrian had decided to visit the demon common room, in an attempt to see if anyone was around. In his arms, he carried his little Wishing Secret minipet, whom he still did not feel safe leaving with the rest of his pets; the lithe thing was quite the rascal after all. When he arrived there, all he was that a ghoul clad in red. Blinking, his curiosity got the better of him (Hey, he was, in fact, trying to distract himself for a while, wasn't he?), and he drew nearer, choosing to sit himself beside the demoness, but leaving more than enough space so that she wouldn't feel uncomfortable, "I believe," he said as he sat his pet on his lap, "That this is the very first time I've seen you around. I've not seen you in class either; are you new?" catching himself and the fact he hadn't introduced himself, he motioned slightly at his chest, "My name is Gabrian," at that moment, the wishing secret batted at his arm, and the nix looked down at him before he turned towards the demoness, "And this demanding little thing is Bell. Who might you be, my dear?"

Arachne had glanced up when the boil had entered, but beyond noticing that he appeared to be some sort of demon she hadn't been too interested. Though of course, just moments before she had been hoping someone would walk in. She was being difficult to herself, and so when he chose to sat down next to her she turned towards him and made conversation. Which, given that he was the first boil she would have said more than two words to since coming to the Academy was quite the occasion.

'It probably is at that. I'm not exactly new, I had to leave for a while, and so have missed classes.' she looked directly at him, looking him over infact in a very obvious manner, before looking at the little creature that he had introduced after himself.

'Arachne.' she said, placing a hand briefly on her own chest, before tapping the tarot cards.

'Want a reading?'
He was pretty attractive, and it wouldn't be the worst thing for him to stay in her company for a little while, he was more interesting to look at than say, the walls.

Gabrian found the ghoul's name rather fitting, given her choice of clothes; obviously she was somehow affiliated to spiders? Were there spider demons? He didn't really know, seeing as how he had more knowledge in the 'water' department, as far as demonology went. Alas, he'd have to ask her at some point, "Pleased to meet you," his eyes went from her face, to the tarot cards she was holding up, and he found himself tilting his head to one side, making him look almost like a curious puppy for a moment before the smirk that graced his lips ruined the innocent gesture, "Why... sure, please do go ahead. I don't think I've ever had anyone offer me a reading, and it's bound to be more interesting that the literature assignment that's due tomorrow."

He nodded and shifted slightly in his seat, trying to get more comfortable, seeing as how this might just take more than the few moments he'd thought it would. While it was true the ghoul seemed to be rather ahh... well, acidic was not quite the word he was looking for, but 'cold' seemed to draw nearer to what she felt like. Not that he minded much; after all, he was a bit of an expert in giving people the cold shoulder, and had only recently begun to warm up to people, "Do you need me to do anything? Or should I just sit and wait?" the Secret curled up on his lap but kept his pink hued eyes on the demoness, watching her every move.

'Likewise.' Arachne replied, shuffling the tarot deck without really thinking about it. Her fingers ran along the edges of the stiff cards, and she closed her eyes for a moment, trying to focus, trying to tap into the natural ability that her Grandmother said was there, she just had to use it.

'I haven't met any other seers so far, so that might be why.' she put the deck on the table and laid a hand on the top of it for a moment.
'Literature? That was one of the classes I was meant to attend.' she said before answering his question.

'Not really, I mean, if there's anything specific you want clarity on in your life than feel free to concentrate on that, but otherwise I'll give you a general reading.' she waited for his answer as she cut the deck, placing one half next to the other.

He watched with interest as she cut and shuffled the cards; he'd never really seen anyone whom claimed to be a seer. This was rather interesting, actually, "A seer, you say?" a pause followed as he narrowed his slightly, as if pondering something, "Does that mean that you can actually predict the future with accuracy?" after all, when he'd agreed to the reading, he hadn't really expected the ghoul to be a seer; he'd just been expecting... well, a game of sorts, really, "Are you able to predict your own future too? And... wouldn't that get slightly... frustrating in a way?" he wasn't sure he'd be able to live with always knowing.

But then again, he didn't really know how this whole Seer thing worked. Maybe things were not as they seemed, "Ah," Gabrian offered her a sympathetic smile, "If it helps any, I enrolled late, and was only able to join in after the first class. I'm sure they'll open up sign up soon enough again. After all, the school seems to have a steady influx of students coming in all the time. you'll be just fine," he reached out instinctively and gave her leg a small, hopefully reassuring pat before leaning back against his seat, "From what I've noticed, they seem to allow new students to join in, after most new classes, so long they are willing to make up for the lost ones."

That said, the demon closed his eyes and did as he was told, trying to focus on figuring more out on the friend and love front. After all, he was quite sure he'd do well enough on the academic field, "Alright then. I'm ready when you are."

'A seer.' Arachne confirmed with a nod, laying out four cards, taking two off the top of each of the cut piles. She lay them out in a diamond spread, and then looked at Gabrian.

'Accuracy? Hmm, well..' she wondered how to answer his question without seeming as though she was less than able. Truthfully her gift was always a bit iffy because she didn't practice as she was meant to, but she rarely admitted it.

'Not as well as my Grandmother.' she decided to be slightly evasive. It was the truth; her Grandmother was a very accurate seer, and it was one of the reasons she'd sent Arachne back to school, she knew that her illness wasn't serious.
'Frustrating? No not really, if the signs bear out it can be helpful to steer your way through lifes little..trials.'

Arachne listened to his sympathetic words, wondering if he was being genuine or not. Though when he reached and touched her leg she had to push down her immediate instinct to stand and leave. She'd not been touched by a boil. Ever. Instead she pushed back her hood and shook her bobbed hair, a hint of colour on her cheeks as she looked at the backs of the four cards laid out on the table.

'Okay then.' she said, as she turned over the top card of the diamond spread. The Lovers. Again. What was up with that? Second time, once just before he entered and now with him sitting right next to her. I know I was feeling lonely she thought to herself, but not this lonely!.

'You have questions about relationships, a possible choice to be made. Maybe a friend who you want to be more than that? Or vice versa, someone who wants more than you want to give.' she looked at Gabrian.
'It's not very clear, but you have to make a..heart decision and not a head one.'
This was one reason why she hadn't practiced so much, she didn't like the airy fairyness of some of the predictions, and alot of so called seekers of their true path just wanted to know if they were going to find love.

If Gabrian noticed the fact she'd deflected his question by comparing herself to her granmother, than... well, he didn't really show it. Instead, he took a moment to let out a soft, "Ahh..." before he nodded, his free hand still stroking his pet's head. It was almost as if he understood what she was trying to say; then again, he didn't particularly deem himself as good a nix as his father was, so he did know where she was coming from, "Hmmm... well, I always thought that one learned from their mistakes. In a way... knowing what's coming up allows you to navigate in a way so as to avoid those mistakes. As such, it negates the learning experience... so in a way I figure it must be hard," a pause as he looked up from his pet, gazing directly into her eyes, "It also makes you different. And being different is never easy."

He did notice how she reacted to his touch and he offered her a mild tilt of his head before lowering his gaze down to the cards she was spreading. He was comfortable around ghouls, but that might be because two of his best friends... happened to be ghouls. That, and well, the Christmas raid had pretty much rid him of any sort of shyness he might've had in that regard; after all, he'd had to cuddle for warmth. It'd been a matter of life or death.

He frowned at the cards, and then for the first time since he'd entered the room, he glared. It was almost as if the cards were telling him something he wanted to know and yet... not quite what he'd been expecting, "Hmmmm..." the glare dissolved after a moment though, and he leaned back against his seat, his hand coming up to hide his mouth as he the rubbed his chin in thought. Well... that wasn't entirely unexpected, seeing as how he'd been wanting to go find the she-wolf in order to have a talk with her, and yet, "Well, your cards are much more accurate than you might think, Arachne."

'Oh yes?' Arachne asked, her hand hovering over the next card in the diamond, wondering what story of romance he was about to tell her. Of course, there was bound to be many ghouls, he was attractive enough, and had an easy way of speaking that let you think he was paying attention, and cared what you had to say.

'I suppose.' she admitted. She was different, and had yet to fully acknowledge that it would set her apart from the other students even more than her demeanour. She had made a very few tentative friends, and with practice would come more control over the premonitions, and mean they would show further and further into the future. What if she saw something happen to somebody she got close to?

She added;
'Look, I'm not the hug and share kind of ghoul, but it's difficult. I can look and see, and choose what to do. I don't want to have to make a decision that affects the life of someone I like, or even care for. But it'll happen.'
The use of her ability for her own needs and gains, well that was one thing, but the other side of it she'd yet to face. Arachne realised she'd shared too much and fell quiet, looking away for a moment.
