Pretty much everything made Tay happy. Even things she didn't like, she was able to find something good about. The same couldn't be said of people, but only because she had never encountered someone she didn't like. So far in her short life, she also had not met anyone who hadn't liked her, which was for the best, since she would only have been confused by their aversion and tried even harder to befriend them.

In keeping with her fondness for everyone and everything, Tay's favorites changed constantly in accordance with whom- or whatever she was currently experiencing. Since the sun was setting and casting long shadows in the temple, sunset was Tay's favorite time of day, even though the long shadows sometimes scared her because they were so very, very distorted.

"It's like an adventure," she told herself as she walked cautiously through the darkening temple toward where her family lived.

She wasn't lost, exactly, but she also wasn't sure where she was, and that made her a little uneasy because she didn't want her family to worry if she came back late. She didn't think anything in the temple was likely to hurt her.

A real boys boy, Ajax had been exploring the temples. He was rather fearless,
ready to go on the next adventure with the drop of a hat. Shadows didnt scare him, in fact he preferred them as
most times he blended...Well for the most part anyway. He looked down at his orange bands around his ankles and groaned.
If he had been a true spy, he would have to be all black! He needed to match the darkness. But he lowered himself to his belly,
and began scooting through the temples as if he would find something he needed to sneak up on.
Spy was his favorite game, and one he normally played alone. Couldnt be a spy with a partner, of that he was sure.

His tail flicked side to side, and he tossed the braid at the side of his head to the other side and out of his eyesight.
"And here he comes, stalking his prey with great strength and skill. Be careful! Hes sneakier than most, and more dangerous than ALL!"
He said to himself, narrating his journey.

He heard a sound and his ears perked, and he lifted from his belly to his paws. He still couldnt see it however.. Maybe this temple was haunted!
That was a terrifying thought.
But he chuckled. He wouldnt fear any ghost! They were like clouds, they couldnt hurt him.

"Best watch out! Im an assassin!" He called out.

Tay stopped in her tracks at the warning. She had no idea what an assassin was, but she was fairly certain that if a person was going to warn her to watch out because they were one, she would do well to follow their advice.

With her tail tucked close to her hind legs to keep it from swishing and getting her into trouble, as tails were wont to do, Tay turned her dark eyes around the temple. Being dark grey all over except for her lighter grey belly fur, she blended in well with the shadows, but she was unaware of the protection and semi-invisibility her coat afforded her, and the advantages which came with being unseen, particularly by assassins.

"All right," she called. She thought she saw a shape in the direction the voice had come from, but she wasn't positive. The temple had a tendency to distort sounds and make them echo. It was a fun, sometimes spooky effect that Tay enjoyed playing with most of the time.

"Thanks for the warning."

Buffy_the_Bloody
When she spoke back he stopped in his tracks. Aha! So the ghost was female.
He would find it and beat the cloud up! He was almost sure that ghosts werent really
girls, and they could be beat up.. Momma wouldnt have him beating up any REAL females after all.

"Imma find you, you old cloud." He yelled back, following the direction of where the voice had come.
The temple had distorted the sound quite a bit but he could still get a feel of where it was coming from.
He ran through the temples halls and stopped when something hit his nose.
He took another breath. Someone WAS here. It smelled real though. What a clever trick.

"Show yourself you coward!" He yelled as if he was bigger than he really was.
The cub, still small and runtlike, didnt stand much of a chance if the other was large..But for now hed
let the other THINK that he was just as big.
He wasnt aware however, he stuck out with the vibrant color that danced across his body.

"Cloud?" Tay repeated softly. Speaking more loudly she said very politely, "I'm not a cloud, you know. I'm a lioness. Or, I will be when I'm older."

She didn't move, largely because she was still unsure what an assassin was and why she should watch out for one, or how she should watch out for one, for that matter. Perhaps they were like scorpians and could be dangerous when stepped on. Asps were like that, too, she remembered, and assassin sounded a little like asp. It would be best to hold still.

"It could be interesting to be a cloud, though," she mused, speaking to herself. The shape she'd been looking at was not moving, even though she heard sounds of movement, so clearly that wasn't an assassin. She wondered what it was, and moved toward it, sniffing softly, to investigate. "I bet the view would be amazing, as a cloud."

It was just a pile of furs, she found with some disappointment. But she didn't have long to be disappointed because she caught a glimps of something that was definitely movement and a light pelt. She frowned in its direction, assuming that this was the assassin who had called her a coward.

"I'm right here," she huffed. "And I'm not a coward."

Buffy_the_Bloody
When the voice had said that she was no cloud, he scoffed. He was almost
positive that clouds wouldnt know they were clouds! Maybe it thought it was going to be a lioness..
"Hate to break your bubble." He mused, and began looking with narrowed eyes as if that would help him focus.
Finally some light landed on her pelt and he saw her, regardless of her being as dark as she was. Well that was a lucky break..
But. But. She was just a cub! She was no cloud at all. With a groan, he shook his head. Girls, always had to go ruining fun games.
It just HAD to be a girl didnt it?

"How do I know you arent a coward? I barely know you?" He said sitting and cleaning his paw. He was rather annoyed
that his ghost had turned out to be alive. She would have been far more interesting had she been a ghost.

"Whatre you doin' hiding in here, anyway? Dont you know that I could have gotten you! Im an assassin, and I was searching for ghosts.
You just ruined my game."
He huffed, very much in a little boy like manner.

"Because if I were a coward I wouldn't be walking through the temple on my own, now would I? It's dark and full of strange shadows and all sorts of things which could scare someone. Especially if they're the kind of person who gets scared easily. Which I'm not." Lots of that was said to convince herself as much as the assassin.

She was fairly certain that what she was looking at and identifying as an assassin was actually another cub, but he claimed to be an assassin, and she wasn't as incredulous as he was. If he said he was an assassin, she supposed it must be true. But that didn't mean he couldn't also be a cub. Which meant maybe she could be an assassin, too. If they searched for ghosts, that sounded really scary, but it would be fun with someone else, maybe.

"I'm going home so my parents won't worry about me," she said truthfully. "But why would you have gotten me if you were hunting for ghosts. I'm not a ghost any more than I'm a cloud or a coward. Maybe you should ask a healer to look at your eyes. It would be horrible if there were something wrong with them."

The idea that she'd ruined his game was distressing, but not as distressing as the possibility that this poor, confused person was just wandering the temple, convinced he was seeing ghosts and clouds and all sorts of things. Maybe he wasn't even really an assassin, and only thought he was. The poor thing. She should just go along with his ideas, she decided.

"I'm sorry to have ruined your game. Can I make it better?"

Buffy_the_Bloody
He snorted. She had a point, though he supposed it was possible maybe she forgot
what she was. But for the moment, he would say she was just your average female cub.
He looked her over and snorted again. He had a firm dislike of females, if only because his cousin had told him
that they had cooties. He didn't want to get the cooties! He shivered at the thought. Those were far more terrifying
than any cloud or ghost he could run into. Of that he was positive.

"Theres nothing wrong with my eyes." He said, narrowing them at the female.
She was being kind, and her voice was soft, but he still didnt let that get to him. All females had
soft voices, and some were kind. She was no different than the rest.
"Im an assassin, I can see these things." He lied. He was no more an assassin than he was female, but
he still enjoyed letting others believe in his game with him. Especially if they were easily influenced.

Could she help? Absolutely not! No females were allowed to play assassins, it was just an unspoken rule. He rolled his eyes and shook his head.
"Why in the world would you wanna help? Girls dont play assassins." He said as if it was common knowledge.

Maybe assassin was the name for people who saw things which weren't there. Like some of the priests did. But she didn't think that was right. Oh, botheration! She hated when she couldn't remember the correct word for who or what a person or thing was. It made her feel so dumb, and it made her teachers unhappy, too, which she hated.

"All right. If you say so. It must be nice to see all those interesting things."

he really didn't think he saw any of those things. Weren't clouds and ghosts also things a person could feel? In the stories she'd heard about ghosts, they made people's fur stand on end, and clouds lived much too high to be in the temple. Just the same, she didn't want to get into an argument, and maybe he even did see those things, though if that was the case, Tay was pretty sure there was something wrong with his eyes.

"Well, I wanted to help because I felt bad about ruining your game, but if girls don't play assassins I guess I'll just go home. Be careful in the dark."

Buffy_the_Bloody
She was such an odd girl. What kind of girl DIDNT argue with him
and beg to play? His sisters sure did and that annoyed him. But what annoyed him more
was a girl who knew she couldnt play. Why did they ever offer to play if they didnt think they could?
They should know not to listen to a cub and his ramblings.. But he felt rather proud that he had managed
to scare her out of wanting to play.

"Girls dont play.. Girls have cooties and they dont like to play. Assassins have to be mean and like to bite.
And they have to be sneaky! You cant be sneaky, you were far too loud." He said and lifted his head in a snobbish manner.
He didnt take into account that maybe, just maybe, he hadntbeen the quietest seeking her out either.

"Go running to mommy and daddy." He exclaimed with a sigh. Go figure. Another girl thing to do. Mommy and Daddy were hardly entertaining enough
for anyone to want to be around theirs.

"What do you do for fun anyway? Play princess?" He asked and chuckled at his joke, even though he didnt realize that she might play something like that.

Tay was a little sad that she couldn't play, but she didn't think she'd want to play a game like that anyway. It didn't sound very nice, and she didn't think people would like playing with her. That was probably why this cub was playing all by himself. She wouldn't really want to play a game that involved biting and sneaking and meanness, and she said as much.

"I like to play," Tay argued. "But I don't like to be mean or sneaky, or bite, so I don't think I'd be a very good assassin. I am a pretty good princess, though."

Tay didn't see anything wrong with going to her mother and father, since they'd be worrying about her if she wasn't home before full dark. She did wonder if his sigh meant that he was unhappy about her doing that, but there was no way she was going to disappoint her parents.

"Maybe tomorrow, when it's lighter, my parents will let me play after lessons, and we can play something we'll both like, but right now, yes, I have to go home. Your parents are probably worrying about you, too."

Buffy_the_Bloody
He chuckled. He had so called it. She was just another girl who liked playing princesses.
She liked fairy tales and he liked action. The classic difference between girls and boys. He
listened when she said she didnt like mean games and rolled his eyes. How would she learn to hunt,
or learn to fight if she just wanted to play happy games all the time?
He didnt understand it one bit.

"I never said I wanted to play with a girl." He voiced, though he likely would speak to her again the
next time he saw her. He normally hated girls, but he figured it would be fun tormenting her. He wanted to try
to anyway.

"Fine fine, run to your mommy and daddy. Im sure theyre soooo worried." He said with another eyeroll. The cubs attitude was definitely
something he got from father.

"That's true," Tay said, hesitating. "But if you ever want to play, I'd be happy to play with you. Maybe not assassins, because I probably wouldn't be very much fun at it, but something else. Maybe you could could be an adventurer and I could be your familiar or something. But it's up to you."

Tay didn't mind not taking the lead in games. In fact, since most people seemed to prefer to be the leader and the boss when they played, she actually preferred not to. It made them happier, and she was happy when the people around her were happy. Also, she didn't have to come up with bad things to happen to people then.

The last part about it being up to him, however, wasn't quite true. Tay was the kind of girl who would try to play with anyone who didn't look like they were actually busy with work. If they were working, she'd offer to help. But it was unlikely Ajax would be given much choice about playing with her if she caught him in a game unless he explicitly told her he didn't want to play, and that would start another long conversation while she tried to convince him otherwise.

"Not yet, I think. But I should be going. Bye!" She took off at a scamper, excited to tell her family about her adventure.
