The sun was setting on another lovely day, Spring was coming and Marrow was enjoying the warmth of the days and the decreasing chill of the nights. He was a loner mostly, living by himself, for himself and the graves he kept watch over. Though there was a very obvious love in his life, it wasn't a mare or a stallion, it wasn't even sugary sweets, though he had to admit that would come a close second. No, first and foremost, his love was for his roses. He had planted dozens of rows near his livingspace, from deep crimson to pure white, he loved each and every row tenderly. He often plucked them at their peek to give as offerings or re garnish his tail and mane. He clattered around, the beads strung in his mane and tail letting anyone within a certain distance know that he was there. He did not fear others, nor was he particularly welcome to them, he was just...there. Sometimes it did get lonely, but he didn't need company, he took care of himself well enough, though he would like another gardening partner, he once met a stallion with a similar affection for gardening, his name had been Nightmare and his plant of choice, pumpkins. They had understood each other in the closeness they felt to their form of art, but the stallion had not dallied. And so Marrow stayed with his roses, wondering if there were more like that strange stallion. He shrugged, beads rattling and went back to work.

Buttercup was walking through the lands, just hoping to find one person who understood the things she loved. One of those main things being roses or flowers in general. Flowers where such magical things, they bloomed all on there own sometimes without any help. Kind of like how she had become who she was. She grew up fending for herself and not really caring about others. People were people she figured, they'd just come and go as they please. Still she would always just smile and try to be friendly to every person she ran into. Though every person she had met seemed to only care about everything else she didn't. Sure eventually she wanted to find someone to be with, but right now all she wanted was someone to talk too. That was her task to Find someone who liked what she did. Which was proving to be more difficult than ever ... since what person would like music, skulls, or mainly flowers - roses like she did? Her head was so high up in the clouds with thinking, she didn't even notice where she walking or where she was at. All she knew was the sun was setting and it was about to be her favorite time of day. Soon she was brought down from the clouds as she suddenly tripped over what looked to be a grave. As she tripped over the grave some of her roses from her tail and mane went flying into the air.

Marrow was not unhurried in life, he went about things in a timely manner, especially when taking care of his roses, he knew what treatment each one needed to survive and spent a good deal learning about each specific plant, one would call him obsessed, but there was no one around to nitpick, and so he continued his daily mulling.
Quite suddenly he heard something, something not far away, the scraping of a hoof on stone and then there were roses! roses, smaller than the ones he grew here flew up into the air, as if by magic! He stared at them for the brief second or so they were airborne, his blue eyes fixed upon the sight until they were snatched down by gravity.
His mind worked slowly, well roses couldn't fly, he reasoned...so someone else must be here...
Someone with roses...
A smile lit upon his lips " a comrade...perhaps" He set his work aside and clopped towards the direction he had seen the roses, with sure, and always unhurried, steps.

Buttercup had landed right down on her jaw in the dirt, with a rose on her nose. "Owww..." Buttercup said as she slowly opened her eyes after tripping. Her jaw was slightly hurting right now, as she slightly shook her head. What on earth had she landed on, it was so hard it was unbelieveable. "Guess that's what happens when I don't look where I'm going," she thought in her mind to herself.
With that thought she slowly lifted her jaw from the dirt and looked around. This place seemed darker than most places she had stumbled into. Though in her eyes it was amazing, who knew such a place could exist. She felt like she could fit in here almost, a place that fit who she was on the outside and where she didn't have to hide. As her eyes began to shine as she looked around slowly, since her jaw still hurt a bit. A rose came floating down on her nose. "What the...?" she whispered to herself as her eyes looked at her long nose. It didn't take her long to realize that rose that had fallen, had come from her! "Oh no! My Roses!" she cried out grabbing the one off her nose carefully and then wincing in pain from her jaw that was hurting.
She looked around frantically as every other part of her body was still in the dirt. Except for her head that was of course. She was so busy looking around for roses and trying to contain the pain her jaw felt. That she didn't even hear the hoofsteps coming her way.
