Abeline didn't remember what she had said to get in on the 'street performance' designs that one of the more charitable girls had suggested. She hadn't, honestly, been paying any attention until someone decided to volunteer her. Something about only the best leads would be allowed to perform. Next thing she knew, they were in practice leotards, a bright sunshine-y day, with some horrid taped music blaring. The Destiny City community park was hosting a 'performing arts' day. Which involved competing performances, loudly vying for the public's attention.

Abeline didn't like it. She could actually see these insects watching her- her brilliance was supposed to be appreciated on a stage, with a live orchestra.

"Alright girls, lets show these street performers what real grace and dancing looks like." The instructor cheered.

Abeline felt the foam mats that had been put down over the hard concrete and turned her gaze to the instructor. If looks could kill. She said nothing, afterall, some of the other 'volunteers' were actively bemoaning their fate, her voice hardly needed to add to their chorus of groans.

The girls finished their stretches, and took position, a likeness to the nutcracker was playing, one of those edgey, new versions with modern instruments to give the ballet sounds a 'beat.' Live, it was good. Now, Abeline was griping about everything.
Abeline was further incensed that she wasn't in the lead position, she was acting as first-row back up, which meant most eyes were on the girl in lead. But even not as a lead, Abe outstaged the other.

She had what was a natural poise and grace, the backup rolls didn't suit her for the simple reason that she flowed naturally from pose to pose, as though born en'pointe. Eyes inevitably drew to her, performing basic twirls while the lead threw themself into fantastic loops. It was contrast. Her eyes closed, her thoughts elsewhere as her body warmed to the dance.

There were a lot of school kids in the park, including some from her own academy. She didn't recognise most of them, the trouble with being aloft.

Castille had heard a rumor during lunch period about an "Arts Day" of some sort, and was immediately interested. Apparently Destiny City, in order to liven up the melting city decided that since the snow was going away, the dancers, painters and singers should come out! So the park would be filled with all kinds of arts in stalls, and makeshift dance floors would be sprinkled among the trees.

There were a lot of people there. Varied ages watched students paint, got their characatures done and listened to singing. Traditional dance and contemporary dance could be seen from all over Destiny City and the surrounding towns. Castille wandered, admiring all of the arts, her camera wrapped around her neck. The noise was intense. With so many performances going on at once, she could hardly hear what songs were being used...

After an hour or so, she paused to stand in front of a coffee shop just outside of the park to drink cocoa and skim some of her pictures. She made faces varying from pleased to annoyed at the quality of some of the pictures. Hearing a slightly different tune, she looked back to the park. She tossed her empty cocoa cup into the rapidly filling trashcan and wandered back across the street to a foam stage just inside.

-Ballet- She thought, raising her camera. ow there was something she hadn't seen yet. As she clicked away at the dancers, she felt a slight bit of envy towards them. She always thought that ballet dancers were so graceful, and longed for that grace herself. But the thought of being seen in those outfits...she mentally cringed.

The song finally finished and after a quick bow the girls strode of the stage. The crowd had packed quite firmly around the display-- ballet was rare in this day and age, and her troupe was pretty small.

While the day was sunny, it was still a little chilly, and after a single song, a second set of dancers came on. They were here for several hours and the plan was to alternate so no one got too tired. Abeline still couldn't believe she'd been suckered into it. But with the confusion of the town lately, she shouldn't have been that surprised.

Abeline grabbed her wallet and started shoving through the crowd, trying to get to the drink stand not too far away. The crowd was unruly and still settling, she hit shoulders and was soon spinning in a smaller and smaller circle, she started shoving, rudely. Unfortunately, someone pushed back harder than she was expecting and she went flying straight into another girl that had been taking photos, *Castille*.

Her hand shot out as she stumbled, grabbing for anything she could in an effort not to take them both to the ground.

As the song ended, she lowered her camera, twisting the lens back into itself so that it didn't get damaged in the crowd. She started to pull out her IPod to listen to a song that the one on stage had reminded her of.

The second set of dancers was taking the stage, posing and doing last minute stretching to keep their warm muscles from tightening in the chilly air. The crowd bustled together, vying for a spot either in the weak sunlight, or in the front row for the show. Castille felt herself jostled, and then a hand flew out and grabbed her shirt dangerously close to what some people would call groping. She let out a yelp of surprise as the hand slid down to grab ahold of the camera strap, and her yelp was cut off as she was almost strangled by the weight of a human around her neck. She threw her hands out sideways, bending to keep from falling.

Abeline had something fleshy under her palm, and then cloth, then--counterbalance. She twisted at the last second her, hands also trying to balance- but she was going one way, the other was going another way and, they began to tip.

She had a moment to realise that the girl was holding an expensive looking camera and reflex kicker her to flipping under the other as much as possible. Abe flailed, only to find herself now under the body that she had impacted- SMACK, went her a** on the ground.

It was not, in any way, dignified. All the air rushed out of her lungs as she impacted with a girl on top of her. This was not the first time this had happened. Abeline needed to stop walking places and just be carried like a queen in a liter. It was the logical solution.

Of course, her movements seemed hardly clumsy to anyone else, if anyone noticed, it was as though she threw herself into the already falling girl's path and saved her from a bruised knee with her own body. Abeline's grace and poise was also a curse. She couldn't look clumsy if she tried.

It was no good. With the weight of someone else on her neck, she was falling forward. Castille grabbed ahold of her camera, bringing toward her body and twisted when the girl pushed her way underneath her. Then she was falling...

She landed face upward on top of the girl, her camera wrapped in her arms, the camera bag flopping on the ground but remaining closed. She gasped as the air left her lungs, and her a** hit the ground, her head and shoulders landing on the girl (her stomach maybe? Castille couldn't tell) She lay there for a second, the stares of the crowd burning into her. There was a growing circle around them now.

-Of coarse, now that there is something to stare at.- she thought in annoyance.

That was not Abeline's stomach.
"Are you alright?" Abeline had a pleasant, calming voice, aside from the usual icey-ness that spread at her every thought. She shifted her weight and Abeline's sharp gaze fixed on the girl she had taken down in what might have been a strike maneuver in bowling. She was cute and bouncey. Totally not the sort of person that Abeline would pick on. Not that Abe picked on people, but she had seen a TV drama where girls smacked into another one because of some sort of complicated jealousy thing. It had used a lot of big words.

"I am not attacking you because I am jealous of implied favoritism by a teacher who is secretly in love with you. Actually, we have not met before." Yes, that made plenty of sense to Abeline at least. She just wanted to sort that out before the other one started crying.

The ballet instructor had said if she made one more girl cry, Abeline would get stuck in the back row. Not like she had known the ferret-girl was sensitive about her nose~! Besides, she'd started the fight with Abeline, and Abe never backed down from a fight.

She was one of the dancers.

Castille struggled to get up, butt aching from the rough landing. She rolled to the side, pushing herself up with one hand, clutching the camera in the other. She did a mental check, and concluded that no, her tailbone was not broken as suspected before. She turned to the girl on the ground, and offered a hand, looking at her quizzically while she spoke.

"There's a teacher that is secretly in love with me?" her face blanked, thinking about how old...or unpleasant...or female her teachers were. She then concluded that the girl must be joking. But from the look on her face.....she must be a good actress!

"Well your right on the never met before." She said, smiling finally, "But what a way to meet!"

Abeline took the offered hand and stood graciously. She dusted her practice skirt and her legs off as she examined the girl she had knocked over.

"I have no idea. Is there a teacher who makes up excuses to be alone with you after class? That was what the movie showed." And Abeline knew most movies were totally based on reality.

"Someone pushed me before, I did not attack you. I don't think that we are even in the same... school." She indicated the bumping and falling. Of course it was not intentional. Abeline didn't throw herself at people she liked! That would be ridiculous!

Abeline glanced around realizing that she'd dropped her wallet when the two had collided. "My wallet is... gone." With no concern for her outfit getting any more dirty, she knelt and began searching for it. The people watching the commotion had returned to other things now that the two involved didn't seem to be causing much of a fuss and the hoard of feet made searching no easy task.

Castille looked upward, indicating searching her memory. "No I don't think there are any teachers that do that. I try not to hang around after class unless I'm being yelled for something." She looked the girl up and down, as if her dance uniform would give any indication to what school she belonged to.

"I go to Meadowview." she said as the girl rose "Is that the one you go to?" she unwound her red and white scarf and rewrapped it around her neck, pulling it up over her ears while she pulled off her earmuffs and dusted the snow off them.

Castille immediately dropped to her knees, looking bewteen people's legs saying "What did it look like?" She scoured the ground for the lost wallet, knocking into people's legs and muttering "Sorry" while getting more and more frustrated when people who wouldn't move.

Abeline shook her head as she searched.
"I go to Crystal Academy." She pulled her hand away as someone practically stepped on top of her. "But I used to go to Barren Pines." She picked up a lost earring, it was a pretty silver thing. Abe sighed.

"There was this big incident that we're not supposed to talk about; and I transfered to the academy. But I know people in your school." She was trying to say that brightly, but it came out a little high-and-mighty. Abeline wasn't good with tone.

"My wallet is white with pink hearts..." How far could it have gotten? it must have rebounded or something! Her mother would be pissed if she had totally lost it.
PostPosted: Mon Jan 31, 2011 4:30 pm

"White with pink hearts..." she muttered, looking around. She thought she spotted a bit of pink off to her right, but she turned and faced the girl "Barren Pines? Never heard of it." Castille paused and tilted her head to the right "Serious incident huh? Sounds all sneaky-like. Was it like, a huge drug ring or something? Or maybe a giant tuition scam?"

She looked back, and was sure she saw pink that time. She rose off her knees and bear walked over to where she found a small wallet, covered in pink hearts. Castille grinned in triumph, picking up the wallet and standing, bumping into a lady's purse. She glared at the woman, who glared right back, and then walked back to the still searching girl.

"Is this it?" she asked, holding out the object.
