Tendaji was still trying to get his paws under him when it came to his new pride. Since Mei returned from the rouge lands with him in tow Ten had spent most of his time learning the pride's ways and beliefs so today he decided to take for himself. A day when he can explore the runes and maybe even a bit of the desert, only the edge though since he was well aware of the dangers. As a crafter Tendaji was practically itching to make something with all the ideas that were popping into his head with each new thing he learned.

Tendaji being Tendaji was not really paying attention to his surroundings as he slowly walked the halls of his new home, studying the walls and markings left there by those that came before.

Nailah tensed from her hiding spot, which was behind the temple wall. Thankfully, her hide was similar to the color of the sands so it would be rather hard to spot her. Her brown eyes followed the new lion, wondering who he was and why he was here.

She would have to find Runako and alert him of this new lion's presence. But what if he did something bad while she was gone?

Tendaji stopped in front of a particularly interesting wall. The markings were something that he had never seen before coming to this pride and it made the poor lion practically beg for some sand he could draw in. While the crafter could and often did create objects from his mind with no point in reference sometimes he felt the need to draw out, more accurately carve out, the idea in sand or dirt so he could look it over and change things before creating the piece. The markings on the wall were one such thing, he felt that just memorizing them would not do them justice so in typical Tendaji fashion he began to mutter to himself.

It was a bad habit he picked up in the rouge lands where no one could really hear him. "If I use that one as a base and tie it in with that one..." his musings faded until he was staring intently at the markings as his mind created something that even he didn't know what it was.

Realizing that the male was now in front of the wall she was hiding behind, Nailah curled up, even more frightened. As he started to mutter, the lioness let out a small squeak of fright, realizing half a second later she just blew her cover.

Oh no oh no oh no, she thought, as she dug a hole in the sand knowing the only possible way out of this solution. If she dug a hole deep enough she could hide herself in, he would eventually leave and not harm her pride.

Ten was so wrapped up in his thoughts that he only barely heard the squeak. "Quiet please." Even not paying attention Ten was polite. It was the sound that followed the squeak that pulled the lion from his musings, the sound of digging and sand.

"Sand?" He began to look around to find where the sound was coming from, maybe who ever was digging could help him for a few moments. He finally noticed a shadow that seemed to be coming from the wall he was studying. Ten poked his head around the corner only to get a face full of sand. Sputtering and coughing the lion did his best to clear his face. "Well that was not how I was hoping to get sand," he said with one last shake of his fur.

Nailah had dug about two feet into the sand, still frantic, but she heard the male's voice behind her. Practically crying in fright, she scrambled away from the male as best she could, "P-please don't kill me." she said, slipping and sliding in the sand. Oh dear. Now she was going to be killed and never be able to see her family again or the rest of the pride for that matter.

"Wh-why are you here? In our pridelands?" Nailah demanded, still backing away.

"Kill you?!?!?!" Tendaji took a few scrambled steps away from the obviously terrified female. Ten is one of the peaceful lions one was ever likely to meet and even the thought killing something without a very good reason was against his nature, hunting for food excluded.

"Why would I kill you and I live here!" He was quite confused now. Why was she hiding, why was she digging a hole, and why did she think he was going to kill her. "Look I think there has been some misunderstanding." He remained where he was not moving and doing his best to look harmless. "My name is Tendaji and I just joined the pride. I came back with Mei."

"...O-oh." Nailah said, suddenly bashful. "I'm sorry." she continued shyly, composing herself best she could and covering the hole best she could. "I didn't know..." ears flattened against her skull as she looked at her paws, much like a small cub being chastised by her parents.

If she was a cub, she would be crying right now, but she was almost an adult. That just wouldn't do. So she just stood there, embarrassed out of her mind.

"It's ok. I didn't know either." Ten said with a smile. He didn't even realized that what he said didn't really make any sense, his mind was already slipping back to the other side of the wall and the markings that were on them. Something tugged his mind back to the situation on hand.

Oh, that's right the sand. He glanced down at the now covered hole and the disturbed sand. "So, um, can I borrow some of that?" He wanted to smooth the material out and sketch a few designs in it with his claws. Ten knew it wasn't perfect but it was better then remembering the ideas and likely forgetting them. A inner voice that was suspiciously like his mother's voice reminded him about his manners. Looking at the lioness clearly now, his mind fully on her he said, "I am sorry about frightening you by the way."

"O-oh. Sure." Nailah backed away obediently, giving Tendaji enough space to do whatever it was with the sand. "You sure seem interested in those temple drawings..." she commented politely, trying to drive the recent scenario away. He wasn't a bad lion, just someone new from the pride that was exploring his new home. There was absolutely nothing wrong with that.

"Ah. It's alright." she smiled shyly, "It's my fault for being such a scaredy cat." she felt her cheeks grow hot, knowing full well that she made a fool of herself in front of an elder.

"Thank you" Ten gave her a quick nod in thanks before using a paw to drag a bit of sand in front of himself. He painstakingly smoothed it out before even taking a claw to it. "Hum? Oh that's because they were giving me ideas." He sketched a necklace in the sand. It was a collar with the hieroglyphs sketched in the two lines showing the edge of the collar. An ankh hung from the center of the collar. "See if this could be done right one could incorporate many of the temple drawings while still making the piece beautiful." He backed away from his sand drawing in case the female wanted to see as well. "Of course it would look just as well if you could substitute the solid piece with many strands, working the beads and markings trough out."

He glanced up from his drawing and smiled at the young lioness, "Being a scaredy cat isn't such a bad thing. After all there are many cases when running away could save your life."

Nailah peeked over to see what Tendaji was sketching, "Wow." she said, "That's really pretty...." The lioness smiled up at the older male, "So are you a jeweler?" she asked, awed. "Are you making jewelry for the pride?" She did her best to hide her excitement, but like any other female (and child), Nailah loved jewelry. She loved the way it looked on others, and the way it caught the light and shined. She hoped one day, when she was older she would be able to wear something as beautiful as that.
"Or..." she started, "Are you making it for someone special?" she asked, a rather coy smile on the lioness' face.

"B-but." Nailah said, "Isn't it more courageous to stay and fight? Like our guards?"

Again Ten said, "Thank you." He always enjoyed it when others admired his work. "Yeah I guess so although I always thought of myself as a crafter. I'm still getting use to the different titles here." Ten smiled a big goofy grin, he had no issues making fun of himself since he knew that he told nothing but the truth. "Honestly I just make it. I don't really quite know how I would even go about making jewelry for the 'pride'. I just make things and if someone likes it they can have it." Ten also had this habit of making items and leaving them places so others can find them and enjoy them. He had yet to do that at his new home but if one was lucky the might find one of his pieces out in the rougelands.

"I was always told that 'courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear.'(Ambrose Redmoon)” Ten looked the younger lioness over. "If one does not have the skills to fight and the reason is not worth fighting then leaving is always best. After all you can't do anything about it if you are dead."

Nailah listened attentively to the elder lion's words of wisdom, "Oh wow." she said, awed, "I never thought of it that way." her tail thumped the sand lightly, "Where do you get all your knowledge from?" she asked, quite eager to learn more.

"Wow. I'm sure whoever finds that will be quite lucky." she said, giving the drawing in the sand another look, wondering what the colors of the gems would look like when it would be made.

Ten smiled down at the younger lioness, "Most don't and I just pick it up here and there." The green lion really didn't know where most of his thoughts of wisdom came from, some he picked up from others but most came from his own thoughts. When she complemented his idea Ten thought a moment before replying, "Tell you what if I make it its yours. You just have to remind me. Apparently I get a bit absent minded." He smiled ruefully as he glanced at his drawing once more. "I guess I should start work on it before I lose the idea so if you will excuse me. It was nice meeting you by the way." Ten's mind was already on the materials he had on hand as he wandered away in the direction of his workshop to gather work materials. Once he had everything he needed he would be back to study his sketch as he made it into a reality.
