- Abeya's Background - Abilene and Findley had lived in Fangroot all their lives, but they felt that time had come for them to make a change, to move themselves and their young daughter to somewhere safer. While traveling from Fangroot to their new home in Woodhaven, they crossed through Fleuve, taking their time as they went. On day three of their six day journey, they settled down to make camp, when Abilene heard an odd chittering sound. Knowing Fleuve was relatively safe, she went off alone to find the source. Just a few yards away was a small red and purple bundle. Getting closer, Abilene realized that amongst the red and purple blankets was a tiny baby mouse, the creature that had all along been making the cooing and chittering sounds.
Picking up the tiny creature, Abilene headed back to her husband and daughter. “You’ll never guess what I found!” she said to Findley. “Huh? Oh…no, what?” he asked, only half listening. “A Baby!” she replied excitedly. “Abeya? Who’s that, a friend of yours?” Abilene raised an eyebrow and shook her head, leaving Findley to carry on with building the tent. Taking their daughter Fauna with her, Abilene headed to the nearest town to ask about the abandoned mouse. After what felt like forever, Abilene returned to her husband, still with the baby mouse. “What are we going to do with it? We can’t just leave her…and no one in the village knew who she was or wanted to take her in.” Abilene paced back and forth, fretting over their next move. Findley placed his hand on her shoulder, “Well, we’ll just have to take care of her ourselves, won’t we? Two isn’t much harder than One, and Fauna would love a little sister.” After a bit more talking, they decided that adopting the baby would be the best thing, the right thing. “What should we name her?” asked Findley, looking at the baby in hopes of getting an idea. Abilene chuckled, “I know!…Abeya!”--- [More on Her Childhood to Come]

- Sad Songs Say So Much - “Lovely Morning, Isn‘t it?”, “Good Morning, Abeya!”, “Hello Abeya, Off on another adventure?”
The little mouse laughed as she waved hello to the various beasts she passed. It truly was a lovely morning, the perfect morning for another adventure. Normally she headed left out of her door and circled around until she arrived back home, but something in the air told her that today she should head straight on. And that’s what an adventure is all about, going somewhere new, doing something different. It was about time she changed her habit.
Stopping here and there as she went, Abeya gather various treasures: seeds, berries, acorn tops. Eventually her arms became just too laden with stuff, so she settled down by a fallen tree limb to rest and have some lunch. Had she not been munching away so loudly, she would have heard the whimpering cries earlier. Sniff-Sniff, Squeak-Squeak…Where was that coming from? Abeya’s ear twitched and she looked around, but there was nothing out in the open , so she abandoned her snack and went off to locate the source.
A tiny mouse sat huddled in the hollow of a log, hugging his knees and crying. He was cold and wet from all the rain the previous evening, and very hungry as well. His mother had gone off in search of food and never returned. After a few days, He had decided to go looking for her, but succeeded only in getting lost himself. Having come to the sad realization that he would never see his mother or other family members again, he found sanctuary in a nearby nook and waited for a miracle.
“Hello!” Abeya called out, “Anyone there?” She figured it was safe to call out, since any animal that could be a danger to her would have made a much louder racket than that. “In here.” Came a small voice a few feet to her right. Spotting the opening in the log, she ducked her head inside and smiled, spotting the tiny brown mouse. “Oh, hello there…why are you crying? Is something wrong?” The little fellow sniffled and nodded, “Lost my mommy. Think something bad got her…She wouldn’t leave me.” Abeya’s smile soon fell to a frown, not really knowing what to say to comfort him. With a sigh, she sat down next to the boy and patted his back, “It’ll be okay…I can promise…I lost my mom too, and my dad…twice.” The little mouse looked up at her with a curious but slightly comforted look, “Twice?” Abeya nodded and told him the story of losing her parents when she was tinier than he was now. She had been found by a nice couple and raised as there own. But they soon died as well. If anyone knew this little fellows pain, it was Abeya. “By the way, what is your name?” she asked him. “Newt,” he replied, “Not Newton, Just Newt.”
“Nice to meet you, Newt! My name is Abeya.” She extended her hand and gave him a firm but friendly paw shake. “We should get you cleaned up and dry. You look real hungry too. Let’s get you fed.” With that Newt and Abeya left his little cubby and headed back to her place, stopping off to pick up the seeds and berries she had left behind. After getting him cleaned up and dried off, Abeya sat him down at the table to eat. While he nibbled away, she went searching for something he could wear. “Ah! Here we go…This will definitely do!” She announced proudly as she presented him with deep green tunic with brown laces. It was a tad bit big, but he would be sure to grow into it.
“Thank you. I feel a lot better now.” Newt smiled and hugged Abeya’s waist, “I was asking for a miracle back there in the hole. And then I heard you calling. You found me just when I needed somebody most.” A tear came to Abeya’s eye as she hugged Newt in return. Maybe he was her miracle as well. What better way to honor those who cared for you, than by caring for the future generation. Abilene and Findley would be pleased. “Newt?…Would you like to stay here? I could take care of you…”, She took a deep breath and wondered what his answer would be. “Really?…You mean, like, be my big sister or something?” Abeya let out an excited breath, “Yes, that’s exactly right…We can make our own little family. And I promise I won’t go leaving or disappearing. Promise!” The two mice clung to each other joyfully. She had gone looking for an adventure that morning and she sure did get one!

- Home is Where the Heart Is - - WoodHaven ۞ -
۞ - Woodhaven - ۞ Located in the western forest, this area is forest that is very spacious and easy to navigate around in. This tribe is generally peaceful so they do not feel the need to use subversive tactics when dealing with others. They tend to build their houses in the hollows of trees and have a tunnel system that leads them to one tree to the next. This can be used as an escape route when dealing with harmful predators or warring tribes.- In A Hole In The Ground... -
Abeya & Newt live in a hollow space in the roots of a large Oak tree. It’s quite a tiny place, but as it’s just the two of them, it’s just the right size. Entering the home, directly in front and spread to the left is the living area and to the very far left is the bedroom area. Very cozy and warm, there is a small hole in the ground that works as a fire pit and acts as the kitchen, a knot in the tree root functions as a chimney. They have a shelf made of pebbles and smooth pieces of slate. The table is a dried piece from a log of Ash wood, covered with a woven grass tablecloth and accompanied by the caps of Boletus mushrooms for seats. Their beds are made of four layers of Rockcap moss with Maple twigs forming the bedframe and a sheet of Birch bark for a blanket. Scattered throughout the home are all the various trinkets and treasures that Abeya has collected over the years, with the most sentimental or important having a special place on the slate shelf. Nature: Distrustful
Personality: Very wary and distrusting of others. A grumpy guy with a [not so] healthy dose of paranoia. Always seems to be on edge and ready for a fight due to his impaired vision and the incident which caused it. Greatly damaged his left eye during a skirmish with an eagle, and is now completely blind in that eye. Since then he has limited sight, no depth perception and diminished peripheral vision. On rare occasion can be pleasant or even on the verge of cheerful, but moments like that are few and far between, and almost never happen outside of Breezemoor.
Voice/Attitude: A mumbling, grumbling sort of voice. Think John Rhys-Davies, only not as deep.
Likes: Fishing, Chopping Wood, Building Fires
Dislikes: Surprises of any sort, Large Crowds, Eagles [and other large birds]
Gormen the Ghastly! [a.k.a. Gormen the Grumpy] Gormen in the flannel he wears to keep off the chill while fishing. Poison! Where did that come from? Just the thing for a Hedgehog with a latent Gambling problem! Like a Hermit really needs help in hiding!

- No Place Like Home - ∮ - Breezemoor - ∮
∮ - Breezemoor - ∮ Despite the wide open spaces, this is a place that holds a lot of mysteries. Since it is so close to route 65 (on the north and eastern end) a lot of the scary stories about the 'hot lands' originated here. It is said that raging monsters haunt the lands at night and sometimes, because of the wide spaces, glimmers of their eyes can be seen in the dark. Though in reality this is probably just the headlights of passing cars miles and miles away. This land has a lot of marshy areas, which is both breezemoor's greatest defense and weakness.
