Apoletta was very content in her spot, her "spot" was located in a forest lake shadowed with white and purple wisteria, the colors melded together made her nearly invisible in the clear waters of this place. She had been swimming idly around for most of the day, Spring was coming and everything was getting warmer, she didn't like it too warm, but this time of the day was perfect for sunning her fins, and that was exactly what she was fixing to do.
She slipped out of the water with a liquid like grace, shaking her tail of excess water, Apoletta was a odd hue for a fish, she was more in tune with the sea, but she could do both. She found a soft patch of grass and settled down, splaying her fins as far as they would go to catch the late day sun. She had not met many others of this land, but maybe they weren't interested in her spot, that was fine with her...but sometimes a fish could get lonely, you know? She closed her eyes for a bit, letting the wind tussle her mane and tail dry. Maybe someone would show up...sooner or later.

The sun had risen to a high point in the sky as a bright red eye cracked open from under the shade of tree's and brush. Seraphino, was not appreciative of how warm it was getting. He always felt like with each hot ray burning down on his bright shimmering skin, it was baking him into darker colors. This of course coupled with his paranoia and delusions, left him a chattering mess as he stood, talking to himself and grumbling about the sun and it's conspiracy to make him ugly. As he stood, shaking off the leaves, he stretched a little, his tail flitting back and fourth as he looked around, trying hard to adjust. In mid stretch he yawned, shrinking his head back at the thought of how dry his throat really was. "I...must have snored...do I snore?...maybe you just left your mouth open again...I didn't....wait..what?" he shook his head realizing that his inner monologue was already making itself well known. "Water..." escaped his lips as he took a step, tripping over his long braid and crashing to the ground. "Sleep..." he thought as he laid there closing his eyes for the moment, "No water...." His mind could not be made up. After a few minutes of yes, no and water, sleep. He stood again, flipping his long hair around his neck and heading towards the lake. As he headed there, he continued to talk to himself, arguing over the need and want for the sun to be in the sky with snippets of how its all conspiracy to make him ugly. He hadn't noticed the pale colored female laying in the grass, at least he hadn't till he stepped down, the soft yet firm feel of her tail under his hoof.

Apoletta hadn't heard the brightly colored male, she had been so lost in whatever dreamland that she was in, that she had not noticed the hoof falls until they fell right on top of her delicate tailfin.
Her eyes flew open and she let out a shrill yelp that scared the birds out of the nearby trees and like a shot, dove into the water, away from whatever it was that had trodden upon her. She was angry, she had only seen a flash of bright colors before she had dived in...what was it~!? who was it~!?
Who dared step on someone's tail~!? how rude!
She waited for the ripples to calm before she poked her head out of the water to check, being far enough into the lake that she was sure nothing withOUT fins could get to her. She peered over the waters edge, submerged up to her eyes. Her ears flat against her skull.
It was a stallion! and a rather bright one at that!
Instead of looking mean he just looked, confused. Fine ennough, Apoletta was a capricious being but she decided, even at the expense of her poor tail, that she would at least attempt conversation with this colorful outsider.
" Excuse me" she murmured over the water, now still " that was my tail you just stepped on, if you didn't realize..."

Seraphino was caught off guard, almost falling over his own feet when the object shrieked off, making its break and splash into the water. The actions surrounding him were like a whirlwind. He couldn't tell up from down or left from right, mainly because he didn't have a starting point to begin with. Standing around looking mighty confused, he looked around, slowly making his way to the water. He had grown very unsure of it now, that whatever screamed had jumped into it.
As her head raised and she spoke, he looked at her, taking a hard seat by the water, watching the crickets hop away from his bright blue rear coming down at them. He stammered a little, with a awkward smile on his face.
"I am really sorry...we...erm...I didn't think anyone was around..erm...I didn't see you..." he paused for a moment, catching a tanget, as he stared at her, slightly talking to himself in a low voice, "no no..thats not right either..." he paused, looking up again. "Your not hurt are you?"

She narrowed her eyes and watched him intently, landwalkers were weird, but certainly not THIS weird. She watched him continue to try and orient himself, finding it strange how incredibly bright he was, she'd never seen anyone like that, she was all nearly the same pearly color...were there others like him? goodness...there was a thought. " Hurt? of course i'm hurt, you stepped on my tail fin. You wouldn't understand but these are pretty sensitive things." She swished her tail on the top of the water, making it froth in emphasis. She flicked one ear up from her skull and circled around in the water, watching. With what she had gathered thus far she wasn't in ANY kind of danger, this stallion had something funny going on in his head. She rolled her violet eyes and slipped out of the water on a nearby bank, still keeping some distance. " But i'll be fine, thank you for your apology landwalker..." She felt the words drop as if from royal lips, she was queen of THIS lake for sure. "What is your name? and what are you doing here?" She ventured, trying not to act as curious as she really was. As if by magic, even with a little pain the tail, someone to talk to!

He let out a small laugh as she went on about how it hurt, he couldn't help but find it a little funny. She had come back out of the water and moved herself further down the bank as if he was vicious. "I..really am sorry...sometimes, I'm a little distracted.."
He paused for a moment, following the trail of a wandering butterfly. "Oh, Um..I'm Seraphino" he said rather happily, looking over at her, his eyes now wandering over her. He had never really seen one who looked so...unique. Then again, he spent most of his day sleeping away or laying around lazily under trees and brush.
"I just wanted a drink, figured here was nearest to where I woke up. Honestly, I didn't expect there to be anyone else around..." his voice was rather soft for someone his size, "Though not to seem very rude...but if you have fins...what were you doing on land?"

She eyed him for a minute, her face impassive before she decided he felt bad enough and sighed " it's fine" she flicked the water from her tail, the pearls strung on it clacking together. "I was probably more shocked than hurt, i was sleeping pretty heavily" she muttered, eyeing him closely and sidling a bit closer to she could hear him speak.
" Seraphino huh? that's an interesting name...you're an interesting creature yourself, very...colorful" A smile tugged at her lips " i've never been "unique" really but thank you for the compliment."
She shook her mane free of the last remaining water drops and wiggled her nose " my name's Apoletta, i was named after some fantasy creature of the seas, i'm normally a seawater kelpi you see~ but i can handle brackish and sometimes fresh"
She chuckled " well you can have a drink if you want" She flicked an ear at his question, a slight hint of irritation lighting in her eyes, but she just shrugged " as i said, i'm a Kelpi, i may travel between land and water, but i prefer water."

He was mesmerized, completely lost for the moment in the fact that she was like no other he had seen. He watched her flick her tail, tiny droplets beading off the edge of her fin, flying into the air and landing on the ground without a sound, splattering across the blades of grass that lay between them.
Shaking his head, snapping back to reality, he pasted on a little smile. "Ah it must be a complement, to get to drink from your waters, hmmm?" he said, with a small air of pride as he stood, unraveling his hair from around his neck as he made his way to the water, taking in a few crisp gulps.
"Apoletta..." he paused, taking a few more, before looking over his shoulder at her. "That is a rather lovely name, if it's a creature of the seas, it must suit you. I was told, mine means 'burning ones' but I am not very sure how that suits me." he laughed a little, with a shrug, plopping back down into the grass with a huff, swishing his tail over his legs. "Other than the fact that I'm told I'm rather bright, maybe it means, 'burning ones eyes out'.

She frowned slightly but let his coy comment slide " the water is for anyone who wishes it, i was merely staying here for a while" She watched him drink the water, smiling a little, she knew the water best, she had stayed near it for quite a few days after finding it adequate to her needs, the waters were cool and sweet. She let him enjoy the water, still flicking her tail from side to side, drying off a bit. When he spoke she looked up, replying in a calm voice " Why thank you" She twitched an ear curiously " burning ones?" she mused over it, wrinkling her delicate nose in thought before shrugging. She laughed at his comment " perhaps so, though while you are rather bright, i dont think you are painful to look at, if that's what you mean" She sighed a little, like a sea breeze. "Do you have any siblings Seraphino? they must be just as bright as you, if not more, correct?"

For a moment, his personality almost shifted, his smile fading quickly as he snapped at the air in slight agitation, "I have a brother, Ulliel, and a sister , "Camie"". He brayed for a moment, before digging his hooves into the ground. "Sorry, I don't see them often, it gets a little bothersome, though it's more my fault then their's I guess. Since I don't stay around home often, if ever. I guess you can say, I value the ability to travel and wander, slightly more than my family. Cruel? I guess...."
"But they are indeed very bright, My sister, Bright green with hair like flames, pretty reds and oranges...my brother much like my sisters hair, bright red and a little orange with bright white hair." He laughed for a moment, "I'm the only one who seems to encompass both of them. Even if the reds are just in my tail." he laughed, shaking his stubby tail.
He paused for a moment, looking back at the water with a wide smile, watching the calm ripple streak across with each breeze dancing across it's clear structure. "What about you? Do you have any siblings? Are they fishy like you?"
