Matthew was click-click-clicking away on his keyboard, paying little to no attention to Leander, who was locked up in the playroom with a babygate for now. He had to focus on his work, as he'd spent the last four hours playing with the child, and had left-off when the boy had started to fall asleep.
It was work-time now, and Matt was concentrating mainly on that, secure in his knowledge that Leander was, if not asleep, at least sleepy enough not to get into trouble.

... Upon which point, Matt would have been wrong. Leander was sleepy, yes, but he was also curious, and HAD to figure out a way past that baby-gate. And he wasn't entirely sure, but he suspected that his twin already knew how. Well, that just wouldn't do. He'd have to see about wrestling that information from Logan - perhaps literally.

Because he was young, he couldn't exactly speak in complete sentences, and didn't know very many words. But he had a STRONG empathy with his twin, and it showed.
Toddling over to where his twin was, he tugged at his clothing, then pointed at the gate with a serious expression on his face, as if demanding: Tell me how to open it!

The shorter of the twins was tired. He was tired, and when he was tired, he was grumpy. When Logan was grumpy, no one was happy; save for Leander, who seemed to be immune to that mood. Unfortunately, he would say, if he knew the word. He was in the playroom, he hadn't really seen his daddy all day because of something or other. He didn't know. Nor did he really care. With a hard yawn, he laid on the stuffed animals and pulled the blanket over him, shifting when his feathers ruffled the wrong way. Sometimes he wished for tentacles like his brother.

A tug got his attention and he sat up, whining. Go away! his grumpy face said. He shooed his twin away with his hands, wings fluttering in annoyance. Everything was annoying him; everything. Brother included. He looked to the baby gate and back at his brother and rolled his eyes. Yawning again, he laid back down, confident in the knowledge his twin would do whatever he wanted, without him.

Petulantly, Leander crossed his arms and stuck out his tongue at his brother, before using good sense, and leaving Logan alone as he set out to try and tear that thing down by himself.

Crawling at a brisk pace, he made his way over to the obstacle, and used the small square cut-outs in it to peer into the hallway beyond. If he was going to have to do this by himself, he'd do this by himself. And he knew the key to surmounting this thing was here somewhere.
Using the holes as climbing-aids, instead of view-holes, he pulled himself to his feet, and toddled over to where he'd seen Matthew latch the gate. The opening was very high up, comparatively to his size, and he was quite sure he wouldn't be able to reach it. Not without help. .... Help that might be obtained in the toy box.

He lowered himself back to the floor, and crawled over toward the large plastic, planet-shaped box where they had all the toys that their fathers had bought for them. There HAD to be something long enough to help him reach that latch in the depths of their playthings.

Reaching the box, he opted for a headlong climb inside of it, as he sat on something soft and fuzzy - probably his brother's - and searched around for what he needed. Long and straight. Long enough to reach the gate's latch. Mr. Elephant? Nah - He wasn't big enough... And his nose was too soft.

After searching through the many toys, he found exactly what he wanted. The toy firetruck! With the ladder extended and locked into place, it was MORE than long enough to reach the latch!
He crawled out of the toy box, and back to the gate... Now contemplating standing up with only one hand to assist.... This wasn't going to be as easy as he'd thought.
A quick glance back showed that Logan was still pouty, but he HAD to open this gate. Steeling his nerves, he used one hand to pull himself up, almost tottering completely out of control. Then, it was simply a matter of reaching up... up... up.... And pushing! And the latch popped from the post, allowing the baby-gate to slowly swing open. And leaving the hallway ripe for exploring!

Another glance back at his brother, and he began his journey, crawling from the carpeted playroom to the wooden floor beyond.

The baby gate swinging open and hitting some of the furniture scared the tar out of the almost sleeping Logan. those eyes came open once more to glare at his twin before blinking. Wait a minute. The gate was open? He thought Leander was like going to go over it or something. That's why he was being such a pouty little snot. Seeing it was now wide open Logan shifted so he was sitting up. His wings stretched and fluttered as he got this his hands andknees and he giggled.

Well, what kind of brother would he be if he let his brother go off by himself? Not a very good one, was it? So, bumping into his brother, he led the other out of the room by crawling. Why? Because it was easier than trying to find something to hang onto the whole time he was walking. So maybe Logan was a little slow at this walking business. Was that so much trouble? He'd just learned his 1, 2, 3s and ABCs. Who needed to know how to walk at the same time as all of that?

Sometimes, his little knees slid, causing him to flatten out like a pancake. To this, he just somehow scooted himself back to his hands and knees and kept on. Turning randomly, it appeared they had made it to the bathroom! Hm, what to do here?

Leander followed his brother's lead, into the bathroom. Now, THIS was an interesting space! Interesting, and big! And there was a white thing there that simply BEGGED to be explored. Well, who was he to deny a begging thing its due?
Carefully, he inched into the bathroom, and pulled himself up by the white thing, looking down into it. Such an awesome thing! It was big and looked like it was supposed to hold something - and there were silver things poking out of the wall, and ALL sorts of wonderful colored containers all over the place! Oh, this was a DREAM! And there was a long piece of odd-feeling stuff that hung down from more silver stuff. It was neat!
He tried to get his brother to come over by crawling over to him, and tugging him to come see this awesome white thing.

"Kenzie!" Matt shouted from the computer room, hoping to reach his brother in the other side of the house. "We have a request to partner with Gay4Life.net - It's a multi-million user site! Come look at this! Official and everything!"

Logan was at a loss for even thinking words! This place was brand new, huge, and it made him want to explore and get into things. Looking to his brother, he fluffed his wings a bit and moved over to him with a look that clearly read 'what?' but not in annoyed way. Logan's eyes were wide and bright and there was a grin on his face.

The big white thing? It was weird. Logan moved over to it and tilted his head to the side. "...." Reaching up, he pulled himself to his chubby little feet and tried to stand on his tip toes to peer over, wings a constant blur of motion.

Mickenzie heard his brother shout his name and then something else. Rolling his eyes, the man got up, closed his laptop and started walking through the house. Might as well stop in and check on the kids, eh?

"What? I can't hear you, stop screaming at me!" Way to take your own advice, Mickenzie.

Leander poked excitedly at the side of the large white thing. He grinned as they looked it over, and actually was brave enough to climb right inside. Of course, then he was stuck in it. When he tried to crawl back OUT from the slidy, slippery thing, he ended up slipping right back down to the bottom - getting more and more panicked with each try.
He looked wildly at his brother, and seemed to be on the verge of tears.

Matt had the same idea as his brother. They had to check on the kids. He sighed, rubbed his eyes, and pushed away from the computer to stand up and meander toward the playpen area. He spoke as he walked.

"I was SAYING we have an application from a rather famous gay-logger website, and they want to use us for a singles event online."
PostPosted: Sun May 15, 2011 11:17 pm

"They always want us for something or other," the other grumbled under his breath. He saw the playpen open and blinked at that. No kids were anywhere in sight. "Hey, Matt, did you let the kids out? They're not in the pen anymore. Maybe the nanny took them somewhere?" Only the nanny was off today because both boys were home. Sighing at that, Mickenzie pressed the heel of his hands to his eyes and groaned.

"Great! we have to find the kids."

His brother had fallen into the white thing! Oh, snap! Tears sprang to his eyes as he looked at the wild look Leander had on his face and Logan started getting panicked, too. Floating, he grabbed a hold of his brother's arms and pulled, as if that would do anything. Hey, he was stronger than most his age, so why not strong enough to save his twin?

"I didn't let the kids out...." Matt said quietly. "Maybe one of them figured out how to flip up the latch? I TOLD you that gate was-"

He broke off in a fit of coughing that ended soon after. "... was too easy to get out of. We should have opted for the locking one with double security. Plus, that one was white, too."

The trail of that though stopped cold as he saw that the bathroom door was open, and made his way over there very quickly. He'd heard horror stories of babies and bathrooms, and did NOT want to be introduced to them personally. Thankfully, all that had happened... was that Leander had fallen in the tub and didn't appear to be able to get out.

"They're in here, Kenzie." Matt said, coughing again. "Lee got stuck in the tub."

Leander grabbed his brother's arms as well as having his own grabbed, and wished as hard as he could that he could get out of here.. And the wish was answered. Not by his brother, who simply wasn't strong enough yet to pull him... but by his father, who gently lifted him out, and cradled him.

"Shhhshhh...." Matt soothed. "I'm here. It's alright. How did you two get out, huh?" to his brother... "Logan's trying to fly again, Kenzie.... "

Kenzie flipped when he heard they were in the bathroom and raced in there right after his brother. Sighing when he saw Logan a few inches off the ground, he scooped the boy out of the air and hugged him to his chest, being careful not to crush his wings. Petting Logan's hair, he looked to Leander and bit his lip.

"Is he OK, did he get hurt?" He then moved to look Logan over, checking his head for bumps. Finding nothing, the man hugged Logan again and carried him over to the couch and sat back down, huffing.

"Logan, you have got to stop trying to fly! You're not big enough yet... And don't help your brother with escape plans. It worries the hell out of us, you understand?"

Logan was flabbergasted. He didn't help Leander, he did it himself! Logan had been napping when Leader escaped, of course he had to go after him. He tried to communicate that to his father, but he was speaking baby talk and just ended up getting upset and huffing with his arms over his chest.

Every time Leander did something he got in trouble for it. How was that fair?

Leander was set down next to his brother, and Matt kneeled before him, looking him over, and reaching behind him to pull the gate closed. Somehow, he wasn't surprised to think that Leander was the one that had gotten out. But Logan following him wasn't a good idea, either.

He sighed, and flopped onto the ground, on his back, looking up at his kids and his brother.
"I think we need to hire a nanny." he said, tiredly. "This is, what... the fifth time someone has gotten out of the playspace? Every gate, every barrier we've tried. They either climb over it, float over it, jump over it, or just knock it over - like the first one. If we're going to have ANY time to work at all... Kenzie, baby... we need help."

Mickenzie didn't like the idea of a nanny taking care of their kids. He frowned and shook his head. "No. No nannies. We're not that kind. Remember the nannies? They were horrible. Most of them don't care about the kids and they just want the money, or the TV, or run up the phone bill. What if the nanny brought home her boyfriend? What if that happened in front of our children?" He was in freak-out mode. It took a lot to get him here, but with the kids escaping and the talk of nannies and worrying about the internet business, Logan was at his wits end. His brows knit and he moved to go sit down on the couch, head in his hands.

Logan sat down and looked to the side, looking at his wings like they were something to be ashamed of. If he had them and couldn't fly, why did he have them? His eyes brimmed over and he went to sit by himself, pulling the blanket up all around him. It was like making a cocoon around him that not even his brother would be able to undo unless he somehow managed to flip Logan over.

Matthew sighed himself, and sat down next to Kenzie, reaching over to wrap an arm around him, and rest his head on his brother's shoulder. He knew a breakdown when he saw one, and this was a breakdown. Softly, he murmured nonsense words into his twin's ear, trying to calm him down, rubbing his shoulders softly, and reaching down to take his hand in his own.

"Shhhh Kenzie..." he murmured. "It's alright. We'll get through this. Just relax, baby... Relax...."

His thumb gently caressed over the back of Mackenzie's hand. "Should I go get the kit and check you out?" he whispered. "I can do that..."

Leander crawled over to Logan's balled-up cocoon, and started poking at it. Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. He wanted to know why his brother was suddenly a bug in a blanket, and wouldn't come out. He shoved lightly to get his brother to roll over - or tried. Not QUITE that strong yet. POKE.
PostPosted: Fri Sep 02, 2011 6:53 am

The words went unheard. His head was pounding and all he could hear was the blood in his ears. Taking deep breaths, trying to relax and calm down, he shook his head and then nodded. The kit would probably be good. He knew his blood pressure was high, he could feel it in the tightness of his chest. Swallowing thickly, he moved to lay down, fanning his face with his hands as he closed his eyes.

"Y..Yeah..."

When he started getting poked, Logan curled up tighter and sniffled a little. Stop it!

Why couldn't he just be left alone right now? He put his face against the blanket against the floor and just laid there. When he was shoved, he didn't roll, or even move much. Nothing happened. Then he was poked again and nothing happened.

Finally, it got too hot and Logan poked his head out, but didn't look at his brother at all.

Matt nodded, and left for a moment to retrieve the kit from the nearest closet, moving back just as quickly, and kneeling beside his brother. He took out a blood-pressure cuff, and wrapped it around his brother's arm. It was one of the automatic kind, so it started taking the pressure soon after it was wrapped. He also dug the stethoscope out of that kit, and put it on, sliding the chestpiece under Kenzie's shirt to listen to his heart beating.

"Shhh... Kenzie, baby... " he murmured, while listening. "Shhh... calm down now... It's okay..."

Leander nudged his brother, and then glomped him... forgetting to UNGLOMP once he got absorbed in what their parents were doing. That... looked like fun. So there he was, watching Matt check Kenzie... and on top of his brother. Well, Logan could shove him off if he wanted him off! He was engrossed.
