Kobold trundled through the tunnels dug beneath the sand, an arm stretched out beside him, tapping the tunnel walls at periodic intervals. The tiny candle set within a holder strapped to his forehead flickered as he went, causing the mole's shadow to dance madly across the walls and ground behind him. Upon coming to a fork in the tunnel he turned into a short tunnel to the right which ended in a nice sized chamber that would be comfortably cool to rest in during the hot days in the desert.
"Tunnels collapsin' like that with no reason to do so. Shoddy diggin' I say, rushin' to finish and muckin' up the job in their hurry." He huffed loudly and plopped himself down on a carved bench of earth, brushing digging claws over his clothes in an attempt to dust off a bit of the sand and grime coating his body, mumbling all the time about tunnels and how poorly constructed they seem to be.

Leandar wandered about in the tunnels, despite being a hallowmarian through and through, living in the desert his whole life, he still did not know the tunnels avidly. There were always tunnels falling down and being rebuilt, similar to the shifting sands below which they were built. Upon coming to a fork, unbeknownst to him, Leandar would also make the same right that Kobold had, ending up in the same chamber. The wildcat was taken aback, it was rare to see another animal in the tunnels due to their expansiveness. "Hey there," he said, plopping down across from the tunnel-digging mole.

A look of mild surprised, mixed with vague curiosity spread across the moles dusty face as now sitting across from him was a golden wildcat. " Mornin' to ya, cat. Bit s'prised to see another face around here this early, or perhaps it's late now." Kobold have a small shrug before removing his gloves, shaking them gently to one side to get dirt and rocks out of them.
"Ya been fairin' well down in the tunnels? Don't s'pect your kin are all much used to livin' down here, ehh?" Kobold set the gloves beside him as he spoke, turning his small brown eyes back to the wildcat.

Leandar could do nothing as a look of pure confusion flashed across his face, "I had no idea that people actually live down here, I thought the underground tunnels were simply for transportation and a nice place to hideout from the sun." The wildcat's thoughts were now focused on the sun, and he wondered if it was still out. Leandar had been wandering in the tunnels for hours, he had found on his subterranean journey, many a yummy morsel. "At any rate, I'm a hallowmarian, I grew up in these tunnels, exploring...." His eyes turned from their focus on the mole, and became distant as he thought of his time in the tunnels as a kitten.

A look of genuine surprise came to the mole at the cat's words. "Course I live undergroun', don't much care for the above, far too bright ya see." His nose scrunched in dislike at the thought. "Guess I been down here so long I forgot not everyone feels the same way." A thoughtful grunt escaped him as he eyed the cat more closely, watching as the golden feline seemed to drift away.
"Seem to have forgotten my manners, I have." With another grunt he hoisted himself off his seat and patted a digging claw against the side of his leg to clean off a bit more of the dirt before offering it to the cat. "Name's Kobold. Mole, obviously, I patrol these 'ere tunnels for damages and the like to 'em. Can't have 'em crushin' beasts, awful way to go if'n ya ask me."

Leandar shook Kobold's hand, standing up on two feet as a bipedal as he was occasionally inclined to do, "The name's Leandar..." Withdrawing his paw, Leandar rubbed the back of his head thoughtfully before returning to four feet. That guy's probably the reason why I've never been crushed in here, the Wildcat had never thought about the possibility of being crushed in here until this moment; he cringed slightly. Shaking his head in order to remove the thought from his head.

Kobold cocked his head to the side, shifting slightly. "Hope I didn't upset ya none with my talk of the tunnels cavin'. It don't happen all the time, I assure ya, just feel it better to be safe than flat, ehh? So's I go around checking them every now and then." A large grin spread across his face, as he surely believed this would make Leandar feel better.

Leandar smiled, the mole's words did indeed provide him with a higher degree of comfort. "How good are you at actually making tunnels, not just repairing them?" The wildcat had a curious gleam in his eye, the question, random as it seemed, certainly had a purpose, but whether or not Leandar elaborated on it was dependent on Kobold's answer.

The mole puffed out his chest and gave a sharp grunt. "I'm a mole, diggin is more nat'ral to me than breathin' is!" Pride was clearly visible on his face as he let out a deep laugh. "So I'm guessin' ya had somethin' in mind then, ehh? Mighty curious I am, care to share what ya got in that noggin of yours then?" Kobold was clearly curious as he waiting to hear that the wildcat had to say. As much as he hated seeing collapsed tunnels around there was nothing that gave him greater joy than digging them out again. If his claws weren't in soil then he was not a happy mole, no sir.

Leandar let out a deep, hardy chuckle. "That's what I like to hear." In an act of friendship, the wildcat slapped the mole on the back, although he hadn't made sure to retract his claws, and accidentally ended up scratching the mole as he moved his hand back. Leandar didn't notice though, he simply continued his speech. "The Hallomarian Court. A group whose soul purpose is to protect Hallowmarl. I think it would be fun... like a club."

Kobold's fur bristled as the clawed moved across his back, and his brow furrowed deeply. While he believed this cat had not done this intentionally he eyed him warily for a moment. When the cat Leandar spoke again he cocked his head to the other side, arms folding across his chest. "I think I follow ya as far as the court goes, but I don' think I quite understan' what ya gettin' at. Are ya proposing the start of this.."club"?" His brow seemed to furrow even more, the little candle still burning over his head casting deeper shadows on his face from it.

Leandar took a step forward, his eyes locked on the mole. "I am indeed, you sir would be, if you so choose, our scout. Your digging skills would allow you to spy on our enemies, and you likely know the tunnel system better than anyone." The adrenaline of describing the idea passed, and the Wildcat took a single step backward, returning to where he was before.

Kobold turned his gaze upwards in thought, his digging claws tapping the sides of his legs as he mulled the idea over. It was several moments before he finally spoke, his gaze back on Leandar. "This idea of yours sounds interestin' enough." The mole fell silent again. The prospect was indeed interesting, certainly not a bad idea. A group set up to protect those within their home? It was certainly a good concept, one that others might easily be able to get behind.
A large grin spread once again across his face. Putting both his digging skills and knowledge of the tunnel system to work to further help the tribe sounded good, even a bit exciting. "Alright, you certainly got my interest in this idea of yours. I'll help ya out, scout if'n ya be needin' me to do so, but don't 'spect me to leave my tunnels to decay." He scooped up the gloves laying on the earth bench beside him. "But mind ya we be needing more support than jus' a cat and a mole."

Leandar smirked, allowing his pearly whites to be visible. Without replying, the wildcat walked over to the the nearest wall, and he inscribed on it what he would explain to Kobold is the symbol of the Hallowmarian Court. "There is a ceremony involved, one that I hope you will be apart of, look upon our symbol, and repeat after me." The wildpart, partly for dramatic silence, partly for time to think. This whole ceremony was being made up on the fly. "I-vow-to protect and serve the denizens of Hallowmarl-with all my might." The hedonistic cat was having fun, it was in his nature to create new things in order to remain entertained, but perhaps this one new construct would be useful to others. [ooc: the symbol x]

Kobold followed after and came to a stop behind the cat, pulling the cloves back on to his paws as he watched a symbol being scratched in to the earth. His gazed turned to Leandar as the cat spoke and he gave a sharp nod before looking back upon the symbol. "A'ight then." After a small shuffle of his feet, and a cough to clear his throat, he continues,"I vow to protect an serve the denizens of Hallowmarl with all my might." When he has finished Kobold took a step back and smiled. "So, what's next then, ehh?"
