The night had passed with surprisingly silence, he had almost decided that he would be free of the visions for a time. No such luck. The moment he had moved they had overwhelmed him, a mixture of gold and brown and the sound of laughter. It was toying with him, he thought, whatever had gotten inside his head. It hurt. Not wanting to alert his new companion that anything might be wrong he had taken to a walk, circling around the area they had taken rest in so he wouldn't get lost. Had his stomach contained anything he might have felt worse, but fortunately he had left the kill for the other. The small comforts. He laughed to himself, closing his eyes for a moment as he felt the soft ground squish in between his toes. Comforts, or peculiarities. There would always be something.

Vijaya had come to a realization in her young life -- it was a realization that had shaken her to her very core, one that set in motion a series of events that had thus far changed her life drastically. Up until that revelation she'd been living her life with one thought in her mind: she would be Queen of her pride and she would have the King of her dreams. Each detail of her life had been precisely enacted so that her aspirations could come to pass.
Vi still wasn't sure what had suddenly made her feel so suffocated and stifled in her old pride. It hit her like a rockslide one day, crushing her chest and darkening her vision. The young female did the only thing she could do -- she ran. She ran until her chest burned and her heart felt as if it would burst through her chest. It was only then that she felt as if she could breathe, really breathe, and it was then that she burst into tears.
That had taken place weeks ago, and since then she'd been wandering. She'd even gone so far as to change her name -- the 'old her' had been Bo'ei. Now she was Vijaya, or Vi. It was going to be a fresh start for her. It was the only way she could breathe.
In the near distance she spotted a male, and warily she crouched. She would watch him, and if things turned dangerous she was fairly certain she could outrun him. Vi was an agile female, small and light on her feet. Ears perked, the lioness scooted closer and closer, those strange dusty-rose eyes watching the lion. She watched him laugh to himself. How peculiar.

Desperation. It came over him the moment the female's eyes set on him. Not for himself, but that of a memory long lost. His eyes clouded with unintelligible images and he felt as if he would scream. Silence, silence beyond all reason. Something had to break it. Suddenly it ended and he found himself collapsed on the ground, spitting bile on the dirt in front of him. There had to be a trigger. Visions that intense did not simply happen out of nowhere. He lifted his head with a bit of trouble, looking around with a frightened glare. He spotted the bright yellow of the female before anything else, and at once all he could think of was sunshine. Another goddess? No, much smaller. One his own age.

Well, that certainly wasn't normal. Concerned now, Vijaya rose to her feet and swiftly closed the distance between herself and the obviously sick lion. What was wrong with him? Going from laughter to vomiting in such a short amount of time? That was certainly strange, and she couldn't help but feel a twinge in her chest for the poor lion.
Though she was small, she was certainly strong, and concerned that he'd choke on his own bile, Vijaya spoke softly and soothingly as she positioned herself so that she could move his head away from the ick that pooled on the ground near his nose.
"I won't hurt you, I won't hurt you. Let me help you," she whispered, jaws opening and then tenderly closing around the scruff behind his head. She pulled gently, not wanting to jar him. Once she'd arranged him so that he wasn't in danger of making a mess of himself, she used her head to worm her way under his neck, elevating his head in hopes of making him more comfortable.

He panted as he felt the female press herself against him. Such a display might have gotten her beaten in his home, but he had no such motives. She was helping, that much he could believe. His stomach calmed as she lifted his head, feeling himself righted. The vision had faded off now, leaving behind the ever present feeling of warmth and sunshine. Her? The warmth was coming from her, he could tell. He swallowed, slowing his breathing as best he could. It was gone for now, he couldn't feel anything else coming on the edge of his self. "Thank you," he managed, turning his eyes toward her, "I'll be alright, it's just the things... In my head." He offered a weak smile, "Just momentarily loss of control."

The things in his head? Vijaya wasn't sure what to think of that. She dipped her head in acknowledgment of his thanks. "It's nothing, really. Just rest here until you're feeling a bit better, hmm? Maybe then we can make our way to some water. I saw some nearby. If you aren't thirsty, at least you can rinse your mouth." She peered around. Did he have family nearby? They were near the same age, that much she could tell, but if he was a sick lion perhaps his mother was nearby.
"If you'd rather, once you feel up to it I can help you back home. I'm sure your family is worried."

"No," Nadhir snapped loudly, then calmed himself, "I mean, no, I'm not going home. I can't." He fidgeted against her, offering a bit of an odd expression, "Water. I've been camping here a few days, the stuff nearby is nice, fed by something underground." He had felt it rushing up, and nearly avoided being eaten by a crocodile. His legs were still a bit weak, he wouldn't mind a few more moments rest. "Is your family near?" he asked, deciding that it might be best to change the subject as he didn't like the idea of explaining his pride's ways to this female. She likely wouldn't stay around if he did.

Vijaya cleared her throat, a soft frown flitting across her face at his adamant tone. It was here and gone - she wouldn't let it bother her. He obviously wasn't feeling well. "You can't go home? So you're alone, then?" A single brow raised in his direction. The action hinted that she didn't believe he could be out here on the savanna all by himself, not when he could suddenly fall violently ill.
Vi paused a moment before she answered his question. "No," she said smoothly, "I left home weeks ago and I don't know if I'll ever go back." She left it at that for now. She would delve deeper if he pushed for more information, but Vi doubted he would.
"I'm Vijaya. Vi. What's your name?" Perhaps idle conversation would suit them both for now. He didn't seem to want to talk about his family, and she didn't either.

"Nadhir, it's nice to see a smiling face, Ba-," he paused, gritting his teeth, "I mean Vijaya. It's an interesting name, I've never heard such." He would need to work on avoiding pridal customs while he was out in the rogue lands, it might give him away. "I'm not alone, my companion sleeps a ways behind," he explained, "He isn't family though, simply a friend. If you're looking for someone to travel with, we could keep you safe." After he said it he realized it must have sounded odd, the one who needed the help offering it. Still he couldn't help but say it, it was bred in to him to protect females, especially those that had not yet reached adulthood. She was beautiful, strong even. Peculiar.

It made her feel a bit better that he had someone he had been traveling with. It made her question the sanity of said traveling companion -- why had they allowed Nadhir to wander alone? He wasn't well.
But he was so sweet and seemed so gentle. Vijaya knew right then that she would take him up on his offer. Not because she needed protection, no. Because he needed someone to look after him, and what else did she have going on in her life? Mindless wandering?
"I would very much like to travel with you. It can be a bit overwhelming when I'm out all alone." She didn't want to seem as if she were coddling him. That might not go over well, and she really didn't know him well enough to even think about doing that.

Something struck him, which made much more sense than anything else had before. He knew he was right, he had to be. He had seen something like his siblings did, something real. "I've seen you," he said suddenly, jumping up to examine her more carefully. His voice was excited, almost breathless, "In my mind, your eyes." He could hardly believe it but there it was. He had seen only glimpses, some worrisome and others more cheerful. But put them all together, yes. Of course she would come with him, she had to if she was in his mind. "You were always to come with us," he said at last, feeling a renewed burst of strength.

If Vijaya had thought herself caught off guard by a lion who had been laughing and then suddenly violently sick, she was probably cross-eyed when Nadhir rose to his feet and said... well, what he said.
"Seen me?" Maybe he was crazy. She'd heard of the god-blessed, the ones who had visions, but it didn't come to mind when she rose to her feet. "What do you mean?" Vi watched him carefully, not wanting him to tumble into the small puddle of bile that he was uncomfortably close to.

"My siblings, they see the future," he explained hurriedly, finding himself pacing about in a small circle, "I've never seen anything that I can find. But you, I found you! Or, you found me at least." Words couldn't quite encompass what he was feeling anymore, it was nothing short of immense relief. Even if he wasn't able to control these things at least he knew they sometimes had a purpose. He was supposed to find her, or at least he knew that he would. That had to count for something. "My father," he paused, looking downward, "My father always knew I'd find a place, he truly is wise beyond our ways." He decided not to expand further on his relations, if she knew he were the child of a god she might deduce which, and then he'd but that much more exposed to any that his father may have asked for help. He would have known his son was not planning to return.

Vijaya nodded, watching him pace. She hoped that he couldn't see into her past. She didn't have anything to hide, but Vi was ashamed of herself, of her narrow-mindedness. Her old self wasn't something she wanted to boast of, but if he could see into her past well, she wouldn't hide anything from him.
"So you are a seer?" She'd never met one before. It was an oddly strange sensation, and Vijaya didn't know enough about seers to realize what he'd said about his siblings all being seers as well. If she knew more, perhaps she'd put the pieces together and figure out that he was the son of a God. As it was, it didn't concern her much, and she was almost relieved to know that he wasn't an ill lion.
"And you saw me in your visions? What else do you see?"

"Well, I don't know," he admitted, "They're too strong usually. I can pick up sounds and colors, sometimes pieces of images, but never the whole event." It would be much more useful if he could, he realized. It seemed to be gradually improving, perhaps related to his age, and he hoped one day he might be able to be useful in predicting. "With you, I saw sunshine and heard laughter. A rose," he explained, "But I didn't know what it all meant until I met you." The way he had phrased it had a bit of a cold undertone as if he were proud of a puzzle now completed, but the tone of his voice held no such sound. He was excited, happy, and most of all amazed. She must mean something important if he could tell so much. If only he knew what.
