Graveyard of the Zalera.

A small graveyard set up outside the school walls, surrounded by it's own walls of bushes and rose plants. Inside lay a few graves, some from Akature, the town not far from the school. Most though, are deaths, accidental or non, from the high school.

The graveyard is enchanted with a almost blessed aura. The aura weakens most dark or demonic creatures, but those with a more powerful aura will be unaffected by it. The power that radiates from these grounds make this place a perfect peaceful hideout or rest spot.

Kawaii rested on her back on top of the large mausoleum. It was the mausoleum to the previous headmaster. Roses and other sentiments were left upon the steps and every once and a while a student would walk by to another grave, giving merely a passing glance to the great white marble building.

Kawaii sighed and raised her hands above her head. In her left hand a bow made of golden light appeared and in her right an arrow. Placing the arrow in the bow she pulled the golden string back and fired into the air, where the arrow arched and disappeared in the shadows of the surrounding foliage. Holding out her right hand she created another arrow and fired that one as well.

Kawaii was bored, she missed a certain boy; although she would never admit it. She couldn't, he was made of the shadows and she was made of the sun. They were not meant to be...and she hated it. She released the bow and it shattered into fragments of rainbowed light and turned to her side. She curled her white feathered angle wings around her and hid her face from teh sun she despised so much.

A shadow moved, skimming through the leaves and past the gravestones, through the plaques of the departed and the occasional ruined grave stone. All till it stopped at the corner of the graveyard. Out from the shadow slowly rose a pale boy of around 13 yeas of age, his deep red eyes showing a mixture of sadness, hate, and stress. As he oozed out from the shadows, he took a seat behind a large grave, using it too cover him from Kawaii's line of sight. Normally he would attack any angelic being but Kawaii was different. His past with her was....complicated so to speak. But his being in the graveyard wasn't to confront her, no, it was his place to relax and calm down. Sadly he came to terms that this would last at tops 5 minutes before kawaii sensed him and their whole fiasco would start. He closed his eyes trying to remember something to calm him down. Only one memory came to mind though, and it included Kawaii. He remembered that encounter like yestarday, the emotion he had never felt before combined with almost dieing from having a holy blade nearly pierce his heart. " i've become too soft..." He muttered to himself as he put his head back, his hair covering his pale face.

Often questioning himself, he would wonder, was becoming a vampire a good idea to begin with? Was living his life with hate for Zephel worth it? And, even if he did manage kill the guy, what then? Actually, what would his own sister say about him now if she was alive and saw what her little brother became. All these questions bothered the teenage boy. His other issue being now, he had two different forms. A while ago had an enocounter with somebody in which he fought near a lake, the memory was hazy, but he remembered actually dieing. His cold blood bursting out of his mouth, the steel of that cold blade puncturing his neck. Then,Void happened. He promised this 'Void' person to exact revenge on the man who killed him. Doubling his power and aging his body to where he looked much older compared to now. Well, maybe not that much older, more like four years older. But now that Derra came to think of it, he never helped Void heard from him/her/it again. So now he had to different forms, his younger form and his older form.

Sitting up straight for a moment, Derra crossed his legs and looked at the ground and drew into the dirt with his right index finger, slowly grazing the cold ground as he left marks in the dirt. He did this for a good minute or so until he drew what seemed to be a stick picture of a family of four. It was his family. Him, his father, his mother, and his sister. None of that matters now. I chose a path or utter darkness and shadows. He thought to himself sighing as he brushed the picture out of existence. To him, the concept of loving family didn't exist anymore, he didn't know what to do anymore. And, to be honest, he had considered suicide since he began to feel that there was no true point in life. There was no meaning to anything anymore, at least to him that is. Raising his hand, a sharpened tendril came out from his palm. It looked like a spike to which those in hell would be thrown onto to be impaled but allowed to survive so that they could feel the bitter sweet agony of their insides been blown out by large pointy object. Raising the spike over his chest, right above where the heart was, he contemplated on killing himself. There was no need to worry though, it wasn't the first time he did this same depressing action. He could never go through it with it because in his mind he would hear sisters voice just ask,
why? This exact thought Made him stop and the tendril retracted back into his palm as if nothing had happened. This shadow let out one more sigh before the nearby sun would shine him away.

With her eyes closed, Kawaii could see the world. She was one of the guardian angels of Mitomi after all. Of course, she saw the shadows stir oddly about and knew who it was; mostly because of the tug on her heartstrings. She sighed sadly, she had to do her job no matter how much it hurt.

With a small shimmer of light she disappeared, only to reappear with another soft shimmer on the opposite of the gravestone Derra was hiding behind. Her back rested on the cold stone and her knees pulled to her chest. Kawaii's wings curled about her as if to protect her against the world.

"You're dead you know, it's time to move on." Kawaii whispered. No matter how quiet she knew Derra would hear. He had chosen the side of the dark, yes it gave tremendous powers...but the choice hurt so many.

If he would have just stayed human...she would have given up everythign for him. And yes, it was fickle. They were barely teenagers although both have seen many things beyond their years and Kawaii's age progression is slowed greatly due to her duty of being an angel. She was probably in her twenties if she really thought about it.

But to be a normal human, to wed and give birth. To have a family. It was something she would never have and yes she should accept that but it hurt so damn much. Sighing she reached up a shaking hand and tucked her hair behind her ears.

"If you run...I promise I wont tell," Kawaii said softly, trying not to cry. All she could remember was that last kiss. It was rather Shakespearian to her...in a way. Maybe that saddened her now.

Hearing Kawaii's bittersweet voice caused this strange feeling in Derra's chest. He didn't understand what but he felt comfortable with it. In comparison to the girl, Derra's sitting posture was the opposte, he sat with legs open and his arms just at his side as if he didn't care anymore what happened. He was lost with his 'life'. He didn't understand if he was truly dead or just barely alive as a vampire anymore. He hated the idea of him being confused with his own self. Telling himself that the world was under him, that he was better then everybody else, but after coming into contact with death's cold blade thrice, he knew that he was just as weak as half the students in the cursed school. All these thoughts and ideas made Derra just hate himself more.

He turned his head to side, hearing her offering him the chance to run."Run....I feel at home him, so close with the dead around me....it's welcoming almost." He told her, his voice not sounding as harsh as it normally would. he began to draw a heart on the ground, but only making half of it on his side of the gravestone. He never understood what caused Kawaii's intense feelings for him. But ever since that last kiss, he felt like the moon during dawn, not truly ever leaving the sky just yet as so it could catch a glimpse of the sun before it had to move away till dawn came again. The sun being Kawaii in this situation. Hearing her mention him moving on striked this cold fear into him for some reason. Did she mean for him to truly be liad to rest and die? While he had thought about it, he could never truely come to terms with the idea. Something he had learned from Zephel actually was that there was always another way to things. If only he listened years ago. " How should....I...move on?" he asked, wondering what she meant.

Kawaii stopped when Derra asked her how he should move on. How should he? "I...I never thought of it before. We usually tell someone it's time to move, they see something and then just walk towards it I guess." How could she not know the details of something like this. Probably because she had never completely died, she had been given another option.

Kawaii reached out to a rose bush in front of her and pulled a flower off. Pressing her thumb against a thorn, blood came out. But was it really blood, was all of this just a lie to her? She had never questioned anything until she had come along Derra. The angels were always so mad at her.

"I-I was taken off your case, you know. A different angel is supposed to take care of you now," Kawaii said, sticking her thumb in her mouth and placing the rose down at her side.

"But maybe it's because you're not quite dead. You chose an immortality imbued with death and darkness," Kawaii mused, her thumb still her mouth. She pulled it out with a soft popping noise. "Why did you choose this?"

A slight wave of relief came over Derra. The thought of now not having to forcefully fight off Kawaii anymore came to him as probablly the best news he has heard in a long time. But it came with another wave of dread as he was informed of the other angel being assigned to hunt him down or bring him to justice or whatever it was these angels wanted. "Why...must I be hunted all my life?" He asked himself as he cursed at his situation, hating the fact that just because he took a dark path of power and immortality, the light had to come and flush away his shadow. He stopped, he knew thinking about the matter of another Angel coming after him wouldn't do him much of any good. Instead, he looked at the postive side, for once in his undead vampire life, he could be somewhat near kawaii without being killed; just slightly hurt from her being holy. So, in taking the new oppurtunity he had at hand, Derra sunk into the shadow of the gravestone and appeared next to kawaii, coating himself in a slight dark tint to protect him from the light of the sun.

Sitting near the holy fruit next to him, Derra looked into her and cracked a tiny smile. Something he had not done in a long time. But it quickly faded as the question was brought up as to why he chose the path he did. Crossing his legs and and putting what he could against the gravestone seeing as it wasn't truely wide enough for two bodies side by side, he began to explain his choice to Kawaii." I guess, it was out of spite I suppose..." He started off. " After finding out about my sisters death in a motorcycle accident and that the driver used his abilities to save himself and not her, it brought agony to me and my family. And I wanted revenge. So, I decided to hit the streets and maybe make something of myself till the day could come where I can get back at Zephel. Then...Lucy came. She promised me power and immortality beyond what I had hoped, and that I would be able to exact revenge...." He sighed, seeing his blind decision truly lead him nowhere." But I guess, I made a mistake." He told Kawaii, looking at her with those eyes of his that showed a tired, sad, regretful, spiteful individual. He blinked, a strange idea coming to mind. " What...does it take to become like you?" He asked her, his hand sliding over hers despite it burning him. he put a slight grip on the girls fragile hand.

Kawaii listened to Derra was great intent as he told the story of his sister. She knew all of this already of course, but Derra had never spoke with her of it. She liked having him close to her, but there was that internal battle of she really should shove a shard of light through his still heart. A heart that was no longer beating, the was surviving on pure hate...a heart like that shouldn't exist. And that tore through her more than anything.

"Humans...are selfish. They do not see the point in saving someone else when you could save yourself. Humans are afraid of death, of not knowing. It's easier, when you've been chosen by an angel. Then you know what's to come, but when you're just staring at the dark before the light...they must think there's nothing. Can you imagine...what it would be like to just not survive?" Kawaii asked Derra looking at him quizzically.

His next question shocked her slightly. To become an angel? Kawaii smiled sadly. She didn't really feel like sharing her tragic tale because she never really cared for the pity she received. She was happy now, more so than when she was alive. People didn't really realize that angels were also dead, but more living than vampires. The light they bathed in kept their bodies warm and their hearts fluttering.

"It..it depends,"
Kawaii started slowly. Unable to really think of how to explain. "Mostly you had to have lived a pure life. There are some who given way, who have made an ultimate sacrifice after living in a world of hate. Like if you had chosen to save someone instead of yourself. There aren't many of those..."

Kawaii licked her lips slowly. She turned her grey eyes to the sun and sighed, letting the warm sunlight bathe over her.

"I had never done wrong...literally. I was the perfect student, the perfect daughter, the perfect everything. My parents were pleased as punch with me, but my siblings? They were terrors. My eldest sister had given in completely to the dark to hone her powers and my brother followed suit like a moronic goon...that wasn't very nice." Kawaii scolded herself looking a little forlorn.

"Anyway, Madoka was very strong, her magic was flawless, her technique far and few between. My parents hated it. My mother was of fairy blood and my father's father had passed away and gave his soul to the angels like I did when I was murdered. My siblings hated me, they decided that if I wasn't around then they would finally get the praise they deserved. Madoka and Dante killed me in my sleep and then my parents put them up for execution. Madoka chose your path and Dante...he gained more power in death than I could have ever imagined."

Kawaii finished her story and looked over at Derra then back down at the ground. Carefully, almost hesitantly, Kawaii reached down and ran a finger down the back of Derra's hand.

"I wish...I wish that I had chosen something different for myself now."

"No....I can't..." He told her with a sad tone in his voice. Just his existence was a example of how much he wanted to survive, to not pass over to that other spectrum of life. Death was never kind to those that that walked such a dark path as that of Derra's and he had to admit, he had commited some heinous acts of murder and theft. He sighed, a feeling in his chest he hadn't felt in a very long time. Regret. He regretted much of his actions now. Just running away from reality and living off of hate. All of it was slowly leaving him and was being replaced with sadness and regret. At one point in his life, he felt like he had made and it was actually right after his first bloody murder. It felt amazing when he remembered it, the woman walked into an alley thinking he was a poor homeless child who was just huddled against the wall. She was wrong.

Derra shuddered now, remembering how he punced on the woman,m his hand covering her mouth to put the banshees wail to rest and quickly ravaging her neck with his new vampiric teeth. Tears now rolled down his face as he remembered the woman shout that she had two kids. " I Have done some horrible things...." He sniffled as he felt nothing but pure regret for his actions. " I Murdered a woman..." The memory replying in his mind as she approached him." SHe asked me if i was lost and needed food...." he looked up at the woman with his red eyes glistening in the moonlight." And I...I...Attacked her." He pounced on her struggling to keep her down. " She kept on yelling and tried to fight back...." He grabbed hold of her wrist and broke it. Thats when he heard she had two kids." And right before I could...bite her....I snapped her wrist and put my hand over her mouth...and all she said before I tore at her soft neck was...'I have two kids.'" The blood now ran down the alley way with a corpse limp and hidden behind a garbage dump with derra walking into his new life. And the memory now left.

He looked at Kawaii and sighed, feeling a slight burning sensation on his hand as she ran her finger down the back of his hand. "You shouldn't regret your choice, nobody is hunting you and you haven't done wrong...." He started as his eyes slowly trailed back down until they reached his black shoes. " I should be the one wishing I had made a different choice. But I was so driven by revenge and hate that I was blinded. Now, I regret everything. Sometimes I wish you had a bit more force and had forced that blade through my lifeless heart. I would of been free but probabally suffering in the after life for my deeds." He told her as he quickly looked back up at her." Your siblings made their choices and you make yours. So I ask you, what must i do to change....I don't want to live like this anymore!" He said, the emotion being raw in his voice.

" I want to be with you...." He said very quietly right after as he looked back down.
