The window-seat, while probably not the most comfortable place in the Feli house, was among Soleil's favorite. It was so well-visited by the clumsy Feli that she no longer stumbled getting up there, she had adjusted to it so well. It also afforded a wonderful view of the outside world, and Soleil was content to spend her days watching the snowflakes dance and spiral their way down to the ground. The world was so white, so cold...and yet, so pretty. Soleil hadn't lived through enough seasons to be able to tell, but she decided winter was her favorite time of year anyway.

A very unhappy looking Dark Feli trudged into the Feli house, shaking white snow off his body with a grumble. So cold, so wet...he needed a fire, or something warm and soft to snuggle up to. Verin's ears twitched, his wings flapped and his pointed tail flicked angrily, stalking through the building so he could see who was around...
It was...empty...? How was that possible? This place was usually loaded with Feli! He crept into one of the empty rooms and looked around, blinking and pressing his ear to a closet door; this very same Feli could be found in the next room probably half a second later. So that was where they were! He shook his head as he entered the next room that Sol just happened to be in, sighing. He'd never be doing something like that! Looking up suddenly to see what room he was in, Verin was met by the pleasant surprise of Soleil sitting in the window...she looked lovely like that.
Verin blinked and stopped walking, sitting down to briefly smack himself in the face a couple times for thinking such a thing. Stupid Verin! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!
Okay...now that he was thoroughly beaten, Verin flapped his wings a few times and flew over to Sol, nuzzling the top of her head and pinning her down on the seat. "Good day my lovely Soleil."

Soleil's tail was curled around herself, the fluffy end of it obscuring her nose, fur swaying with every breath she took. She hadn't noticed the dark spot amongst all that white, hadn't heard anyone come in, really--she was not the most attentive of Felis, though with her particular peculiarity one might think she'd pay a bit more attention to her surroundings, just in case.
Well, she didn't; she was, in fact, quite oblivious to almost everything that was going on around her most of the time. She hadn't wondered at the lack of Felis in the house, opting for thankfulness that there were fewer bodies around for her to potentially trip over or run into.
She barely registered the presence of someone on the seat with her, only realizing that she was sharing her seat with another body after she had been pseudo-pounced. Soleil squealed and jerked in surprise, ears flattening as she curled tighter and looked up at her attacker. Verin! she squeaked--he was forever catching her unawares. Hello, she said, smiling softly up at him and blushing at the "lovely" comment. In spite of her momentary fright, she was quite happy to see him. It was always nice to spend time with a friend, and Soleil's shyness prevented her from having too many of them. Her fur fluffed as he dripped melted snow on her. You're soaking wet! Master of the obvious, this one.

Verin grinned when he caught sight of the blush, nuzzling at Soleil's head again. His bright green eyes blinked suddenly at her statement, looking down at himself for a moment...so he was! Sighing, he jumped off the female and onto the floor, walking a safe distance away to shake the water out of his sleek fur. As expected water went flying everywhere, hence the reason he'd walked away, and now he flew back over to Sol...the poor girl was wet too. "Blame the snow for being so wet when it melts...it's so cold, I can't stand it." He grumbled, sitting down next to Sol and looking around.
...There were no Feli around that could see them...and no one would be able to make fun of him for being as soft as he was about to be...good. Verin reached down and nuzzled his head under Sol's, closing his eyes and cuddling close to the light green female. What? She was warm...yeah! She was warm, and he was cold...and she was dryer than he was, and most certainly softer than he was.

Her ears perked as he sighed and left and she frowned, thinking that she had driven him away. Her frown dissolved into a giggle as she saw him shake himself off; that was considerate of him! Soleil idly brushed water from her ears with a paw--while she wasn't nearly as drenched as he was, it was mildly uncomfortable nonetheless.
Her tail unwound from around herself and she resumed her previous sprawl as Verin returned. Soleil blinked down at the darkling as he snuggled up to her, quite taken aback at such an action--rather, from such a Feli. After a confused moment, she placed her head atop his. It made her slightly damper, but she didn't seem to mind. What were you doing out there, anyway? she asked.

What was he doing out there? Verin's ears flicked in thought, finally lifting his head after a moment's thought to look the female up and down. He'd been too lazy to just fly here...but that still didn't answer why he was in the snow. He shrugged after a minute or so of thinking, licking at the spots where water had dripped onto her; Sol still had to be presentable even when no one was around! "Dunno. Just felt like coming here...didn't expect to see you here, you're just an added bonus." Verin grinned, grooming the female's fur some more.
He probably needed the grooming more than she did, and in truth she really wasn't as wet as he was making her out to be, but he felt like grooming her and making her pretty. He was lying when he said he wasn't expecting Soleil to be here, because in all actuality he was counting on her being somewhere in this place; it was just something he would probably never admit outloud.
"Or maybe I just felt like seeing your pretty face." Verin purred, curling protectively (And a bit affectionately) around Soleil after his statement.

Soleil giggled and blushed and pawed ineffectually at Verin--she was damp enough! Oh, and now her fur was sticking up in spots! She smoothed it down with the aid of a paw and a wing; it wasn't perfect, but it was much better. Honestly, Soleil wasn't typically one to care what she looked like. Verin just brought it out in her.
Her light fur took on a deep red cast around her cheeks as she curled up, settling gingerly against him as if any overt movements would startle Verin out of the affectionate mood he seemed to be in. Her tail settled around her slight form once more, and she peeked at him through a fluffy fringe of fur. Now I know you're teasing, she said, wondering at this change in the normally rough-around-the-edges darkling.

Verin blinked, shrugging and nuzzling his head under Sol's paws until they covered his eyes. Were it possible he'd probably be blushing or something, but he was too dark to tell. "Why do I have to be teasing? I can't say something nice every now and then? Jeeze." He grumbled and rolled over, turning his back to Sol in a stubborn move. Of course his plan was to hopefully make her feel guilty enough to just get over that he was being nice because he wanted to be. He checked back on Sol every now and then, eventually settling on pushing himself up to his feet and padding up to the window to just sit and stare at all the white. Ick...it was so cold and wet.
He just sat there, staring, his tail flicking back and forth. Every now and then he glanced at Sol's reflection in the window, then take the risk of even turning his head to look at her for brief moments. Verin eventually ickled at her nose with the very tip of his tail, staring out the window with a smirk on his face. "I'm curious, how is it you can stand me?" He tried so hard to be scary and mean, but Sol was his little soft spot. Verin turned again and returned to the female's side, curling up around the pale green Feli once more like a dark, purring shield.

Oh, wow. Open mouth, insert paw. She hadn't MEANT for her statement to offend him, but it appeared she accidentally had. As if being physically clumsy wasn't enough, she was verbally clumsy as well? Soleil sighed, ears drooping, strange eyes seeming to contemplate the fluffy end of her tail. She didn't notice Verin looking back at her and curled up tighter as he rose, thinking she had upset him into leaving.
She squeaked as his tail tickled her nose, wiggling it and fighting off an instinctual sneeze. Stand you? You say that as if you're hard to get along with... Soleil frowned as he returned to her side, resettling herself against him, placing a paw over his as if to physically keep him there. I guess...I guess it's cause you can stand me. You don't yell or get mad at me when I run into you, and you don't mind my...oddity...and...and you're nice, she concluded, smiling. She really had no idea that he was trying to be mean, although he had certainly scared her on more than one occasion--of course, what hadn't?

"Yeah well I...am?" Verin blinked, shrugging to himself and suddenly blinking when Sol put her paw on him. He grinned, licking at the female's paw just because he could, and he also wanted to see how she'd react to it. "You are easy to get along with. You're the complete opposite of me! You're..." He squirmed a little, as if it was completely out of character for him to say the word he was about to say...because it was. "Sweet. I think your eye is interesting, I'd give anything to be able to see things the way you do! No one could hide from me!" He let out a laugh that was supposed to be sinister, but it probably didn't sound that way, it sounded more comical than anything.
"The humans have been saying some silly thing called Valentine's day is coming up. Lots of hearts and love and stuff." He shrugged as if he didn't care, just felt like mentioning the random fact. Haha, he had a plan! ...I think...did he? I doubt it.

Soleil smiled and nodded, the embarassed blush never leaving her pale cheeks. Well, I think you are, she said, purring softly and nosing at a dark, floppy ear as her paw was licked. Hmm, they WERE complete opposites--it boggled her mind, how they got along so well--but didn't they say that opposites attract?
She looked away, ears drooping a bit as he proclaimed his interest in her eye. Oh, don't say that...it's terrible! It looks funny, and it makes me run into things, and it's scary on dark nights! Of course, it was scary in broad daylight, too--Soleil was just very easy to scare.
Her attention was drawn back to him at his last statement, head tilting to the side, one ear perked while the other flopped over. Valentine's Day? But isn't there hearts and love all year round? Why do they need a day for it?

The ear that'd been nosed at flicked, and Verin looked up at Sol with a grin. "If we could I'd trade eyes with you." He offered, lifting a paw to drape his foreleg across Sol's back and pull her close like a teddy bear. "I shall be your eye then. You will not have to worry about a thing. No more bumping into stuff, no more being scared. You have to be strong!"
He shrugged a little and curled his tail around Sol's, nuzzling atop her head before he actually answered her question. "Humans are so strange. They celebrate love one day of the year, even though they have it all the time. They give chocolate to one another, and exchange silly looking card things...some males even buy toys or cute and fluffy things for their mates." He looked around, sharp green eyes narrowing to make sure no one was around to see this; this was between him and Sol, no one else. "I'll be right back." He said, jumping off the window seat to disappear into the next room.
He returned a few minutes later with something wrapped in a red thing he'd probably stolen from Eight's house, something he'd had hidden here for the past...two days? Verin leapt onto the seat again, landing near the window and turning around so he could place it in front of Sol. Inside was a soft little toy lamb with a pink ribbon around its neck. "It's very early...but I felt like giving it now instead." He had one more reason to be glad for dark fur, she couldn't see him blushing.
((Here's the toy, d00d. http://www.plushinarush.com/ProductImages/2004/9087-Lamb.jpg It's so cute.))

Soleil mewed as she was pulled closer against Verin--he was still damp, but so warm underneath! She tilted her head up to look at him. It's nice of you to offer, but you don't need to put yourself out for me...I'll get by. I always do. There was no bitterness in her tone--rather, there was grateful acceptance. Verin at least understood, and that was more than enough for her.
With an awkward wiggle, she turned onto her back, looking up at him. He looked so far away! Soleil carefully stretched out a pale paw to paw gently at his nose, just to see. It made her sad and happy all at once that he'd offer to take on this burden, and she smiled faintly at his description of love's holiday. That IS strange...why that day, I wonder? And why such odd tokens of what's always there? Her tail reluctantly released his, and she turned back onto her belly to watch him go, feeling an odd pang at seeing him leave even at his reassurance of his return.
Soleil stretched out on the window seat's cushion like a feline throw rug, head resting on her paws and tail swaying idly in the air. She smiled brightly at his return, pushing herself into a sitting position. Her head cocked to the side at the sight of the thing he was dragging, and her smile turned to a contemplative frown, as if she was trying to figure out quantum physics rather than a simple gift. She carefully nosed the present's trappings away, smiling victoriously once the gift within was revealed. Oh, it's adorable! she cooed, nuzzling the soft lamb, happily purring. Thank you! she exclaimed, looking up at him, leaning over the plush toy to rub noses with him--her blush wasn't so easily hidden. But what's the occasion? Clearly, Soleil wasn't the brightest crayon in the box.

She thought it was adorable! Verin's ego swelled at that, puffing out his chest with pride. However...were this an anime he probably would've fallen flat on his face at the question that came the next moment. He'd gone from proud of how happy she'd been about it to utterly depressed. She didn't get it? His ears drooped a little, and his head lowered. "It's a very early Valentine's Day present for you. Like I said...males get cute little...things for their mates, or the females they want to be their mates." He mumbled quietly, clearly a little embarrassed by the confession. Verin looked back at the lamb and poked at it with his paw, padding over to Sol soon after and laying across her back like she was just a big, soft pillow.
"So that's the occasion." He purred...yes, he was actually purring now! The world was ending! Oh God save us all! His eyes closed after a minute, rolling off Sol to just curl up around her again like he had before. "So..you like it then? I wasn't really sure what to get." Again he was blushing, hugging Sol against him again just like before. "There was also a little cat with a heart...but I liked the face on this one better." Verin reached across to paw at the lamb's face, tucking his head under Sol's again. She smelled nice.

Oh no, what had she done to make him look like that? Her head drooped to meet his, as if that would gain her some insight into her faux pas. She was about to ask what was wrong when his explanation cut her off. This time she seemed to put two and two together; his implication was obvious, even to her. She went beet red at that, the blue markings across her face turning a deep purple.
Soleil was so distracted by her own thoughts that she was surprised when he flopped down on top of her. She smiled warily at his purr, not sure how to see that now, and as he curled around her, she reached a paw out to snag the lamb, cuddling both it and Verin. She turned her head to rub her cheek against the top of his, not responding for a long moment. It's wonderful, she started, but does that m-m-mean you want me to, um, be your, uh... she was too overcome by nervousness to finish that awkward sentence--what if she hadn't read him right?--and buried her face in the back of Verin's neck.
