Amiera wandered the quiet fields, enjoying the mild weather. Not sweltering hot like during the summer, but not below freezing either. Even if it was an extreme though, she probably wouldn't complain. The golden mare was always looking for the bright side, the good in someone, and just all around staying positive in her mind. Yet she wasn't one of those overly obnoxious happy people, just kind, polite, and a very gentle soul.
These lands were intriguing, so many different individuals lived in the area, it was exciting. The wide variety of types, and personalities, there was no way she was going to be able to meet even a decent chunk of all of them. So she would just take things as they came, and meet whoever was destined to cross her path. Though today it seemed not many were going to show. Oh well, she wasn't completely disappointed. Everyone needs time to themselves, right?

It was rare for Seyx to have time to himself these days. Well, these days, or ever. Ever since he was a foal, he had been around others; first his parents and siblings, then, almost immediately, he'd fallen in with Lessia. No doubt the two of them made an incongruous pair, the tall, muscly, lank-locked kalona mare and the small, reflective, neatly groomed alicorn stallion who came barely up to the mare's chin. There had been more than a few cases of mistaken identity, when other well-meaning types had thought he was in dire peril and rushed to his aid. Others who knew the two of them had been equally misinformed, feeling that the only possible explanation for a mare and a stallion to be so close was romantic or sexual. Both suppositions were incorrect, and Seyx and Lessia were the first to correct the uninformed. The warm friendship the two had shared since they were foals was just that: friendship, and nothing more. Though Seyx would have to admit that theirs was an unusually close friendship, evidenced by the fact that they were almost always together. Very few occasions caused the two to part company: today's reason was the most common. Although not a full-blood kalona, Lessia was 3/4 that aggressive breed and the simple fact was that she needed meat in order to stay healthy. It wasn't often she needed to satisfy her blood lust, but about once a week or so she would detach herself in order to hunt, eat, and take care of business. It was never discussed, and that was just the way Seyx liked it. Today was just such an occasion. Lessia had taken off in the early morning, and Seyx was now left to his own devices for anywhere from a few hours to a few days. In the plains, he would guess that latter; she'd have a long way to go to find game. So the alicorn was taking it easy, enjoying a little walk before seeking out some lunch.

Amiera was about to accept that she would indeed be spending the day alone, until she saw the darker figure wandering about. It was possible the other wanted to be alone, in which case she wouldn't want to be a bother. Or maybe he was seeking company as well but hadn't seen her yet? Oh what a pickle. Well she would simply have to find out, if she wasn't wanted then it was easy enough to walk away.
The golden mare made her way across the field, a smile on her face. "Hi there. Nice afternoon for a walk, huh?" She stopped a few feet away, not wanting to crowd. "I was just starting to think this place had been deserted it's so quiet. My name's Amiera." Up close the stallion seemed nice enough. No scowl on his face, and he wasn't glaring or yelling yet. All very good signs. In her hopefully discreet observations of him, she may have found herself thinking he was quite the handsome fellow. His markings were unique and his colors seemed to go together perfectly. Now, now what was all this thinking about a stranger, she didn't even know his name yet. All the while, her gentle smile never left her face.

Seyx had noticed the mare before she had finished making her way over to him; indeed, with as brightly colored as she was he would have had to have been blind in order to miss her against the dull and barren ground! But being an unobtrusive fellow, he had merely glanced her way and nodded, not about to intrude if she was the sort of Soquili that liked to be alone when she was out and about. Not that he would object to any company, of course, but he'd never been the sort to put himself out.
She had saved him the trouble, though; as she continued along, he had come to the realization that she was making her way over to him and consequently stopped to courteously wait for her. That she stopped before she was right on top of him was a pleasant surprise; being used to hanging out with Lessia and meeting other 'friendly' Soquilis, he'd long since grown accustomed to having his personal space crowded. Very considerate of her, really.
At her greeting, he had bowed slightly, drawing back his wings and offering her his mild smile. "Indeed, at this time of year one couldn't ask for better weather. I gather that you're not too fond of the overly cold weather we've been having lately, Amiera? I must confess that it's not to my taste, either, but it does allow more enjoyment of this warmth to know how unpleasant it could be."
Gallantly extending his wing to the mare, he offered his own introduction on the tails of his speech, unwilling to leave her with her neck out any longer than necessary. "My name is Seyx, and it's a pleasure to meet you." And it was; a fresh face, especially one owned by a person who was obviously well-mannered, was always a treat...even if that face was exactly at level with his own. It had bothered him when he was young, his very small stature, but these days he'd long since come to embrace it. It wasn't his fault biology had made him the height of the average mare!
"Have you been out walking long?"

"Oh I'm not overly against the cold, but I won't say the bit of warmth isn't a nice a change." Again when did she ever openly complain about anything, really. "It's nice to meet you Seyx. I'll admit I'm new around here so you're one of the first I've had the pleasure of meeting. It's a relief to see you're a good-natured fellow." Amiera wasn't really sure what she would do if someone ever told her to get lost. Sure it would probably sting but she wouldn't be capable of giving them the same treatment, it wasn't in her to be so cruel.
"Oh no not very long, but long walks can be good though. Good exercise and all," she gave a small laugh. "I was just looking around to see what these lands were all about, maybe hoping to run into someone nice, such as yourself. What about yourself, Seyx? Have you been out long? I didn't interrupt something important you were on your way to do or something, did I?"

Ah, so she was new, then. Seyx smiled at that, unable to determine if she meant new to this territory or new to this region as a whole; because if she was new to the territory only, then so, to a point, was he! An advantage of being winged and having an itching foot was that he tended to see a lot of the countryside; he and Lessia had a few favorite haunts, but for the most part they were on the move a great deal of the time. This particularly place he'd probably spent less than two weeks of his entire life in... "Well, I hope that you're liking the region so far, Amiera, but I have to confess that I'm not exactly a local myself, so I hope you're not in need of any specific local guiding or provisions. If it's pleasant company you're after though, I hope that I can continue to oblige you." This was spoken in his mild, manner-of-fact way; it wasn't a boast, because Seyx didn't approve of such things, but with an optimistic confidence that expressed his desire to be of use.
"But no, you were not interrupting anything. I found myself alone today, which is a peculiar state of affairs for me, and all I've been doing since is walking about. As you stated, it is marvelous exercise, and very beneficial for getting used to the terrain of a particular locale. As we're both doing the same thing, would you be interested in accompanying me for a while? Please don't feel any pressure to accept, of course, but I would be delighted to have your company." Seyx didn't raise his voice a great deal, but his tone was kind and his eyes were animated as he extended the offer to the mare. For him, that was both energy and enthusiasm, emotions that he'd often been accused of lacking. Well, it wasn't that he lacked them, merely that he didn't show them as...emphatically as most!

Amiera smiled at him. "Oh yes I'm rather enjoying myself. I didn't really need a tour of the whole land, so someone to experience it with would probably be perfect! I would love to join you. Feel free to scoot me on my way at any time if you need to get back home to a family or loved one. Do you have family? I don't have anyone here, just me," but she smiled again. It wasn't a bad thing not to have a family, she just hadn't found that one yet. She wasn't really sad about not having parents or siblings either. She'd never really had them so.. she didn't know what it was like TO have them. She started up a pace again, hoping he would follow, and set out to see these lands with her new found friend!

Seyx didn't see what the issue so many Soquili seemed to have with introductions was; meeting new people was typically quick, painless, and pleasant! To be sure, it was easier to meet people when he wasn't around Lessia, though when she was around things could definitely get interesting. Half the Soquilis they met as a unit were afraid of her, another segment wanted to save him from her...many just vanished as soon as they were close enough to make out Lessia's wings or horns. It could be amusing, but very counterproductive if one was actually in the socializing mood!
To be sure, he wasn't often in such a mood, but it was nice to have options! Right now, the idea of some company was downright pleasant, and he was very pleased to have had his invitation accepted. "Thank you, you are very kind. I am sure we will need no ceremony, though; if you need to go, then go, and I will do likewise. Though for my part there are no immediate claims on my time; I have been independent of my parents for a long time, and having no one other than myself to consult leaves me with a great deal of flexibility. I do have a very close friend that is like family, though, and look forward to catching up with her in a few days. We typically travel together, both of us being a bit of the wandering sort. But what about you, Amiera? Are you the sort who enjoys traveling, or are you looking to set down roots?"
