Maia sat atop of Meadowview high looking out over the soccer feild. She was in no mood to patrol tonight, but she knew it was a must with the more recent events in Destiny City. She sighed looking up at the night sky and wondering if she should visit Maia. Would it be any different in her super form, she doubted it, but the doubt didn't quell her curiosity.
Sighing she summoned her phone and looked at it swinging her feet from her perch atop her school. She wanted to go, but there was a nagging guilt in her belly that scolded her, along with a voice that said now was not the time.
Maia shook her head opening her phone and switching it to scan mode. She watched as dot appearred on the screen followed by a name. It seemed Sailor Regulus was about as well. She frowned shutting her phone. She had been avoiding the teamed while she figured out how to tell them she joined the Blood Moon Court, which meant she had to leave the Basterds leaving Maia a little bit torn. The Blood Moon court was good thing for her, but did it mean she would lose her friends.
She stood to leave, but did not move instead just standing and looking out over the school ground.

"Hey!" Regulus called out, walking down the steps toward Maia. He was tempted to walk on the seats, to give his Senshi-fueled skills a run for their money, but that seemed a bit childish for a Super Senshi, and for someone who was looking down the barrel at being eighteen, so he didn't.
"Long time no see, I was beggining to think they'd grounded you or something." He joked. It wouldn't be the first time someone had been prevented from patrol by getting caught out when they weren't supposed to be.
Looking out over Meadowview reminded him of the first time he'd henshined up, only he was hoping that this time, the blue haired Nega wouldn't show up. He hadn't really run into her since, but since he himself had gotten more powerful, he doubted she was still wielding a giant squeaky hammer, and this time she'd know a lot better what he was capable of.

Maia was brought out of her thought by the shout and looked to see Regulus coming toward her. She frowned for a moment before sitting back down. There was no avoiding her friend now. "I was not grounded. I patrol most nights," she said softly before looking up to the sky.
Maia leaned back on her hand watching the stars her usual smile missing. "I have had a lot on my mind lately. Being a senshi means so many things and I am just trying to figure it out."
Lily sighed wondering if Regulus had to go through the same. "On top of that I nearly lost my starseeds, learned my attack has an annoying limitation, went to space, to Maia and gained an upgrade. Life is all over the place right now."

"You nearly loose your starseed and you're patrolling alone?" Regulus frowned slightly, coming to stand beside her. He hadn't missed her frown, he just chose to ignore it. "...It's a lot to think about." He admitted, a second later, in spite of the scolding. He was guilty of solo patrols himself, he just felt a little protective of the other Senshi. There had been so few when he started, he guessed he was developing some sort of 'dad' complex.
"Heard about the space thing... haven't gone yet." He added. He wasn't sure how he felt about it, the idea made him nervous.
"...You want to talk about it?"

"I am not alone," she admitted, "not really." She did not elaborate, but it was true. It was known she was out here, she had her phone and if she didn't check in the others would come looking for her. "As for the stolen starseed, Polaris saved me and while I was afraid to be Sailor Maia again it felt wrong not to be. I am so use to patrolling alone, I always forget to call a partner." Even despite her promise to Scylla.
Maia smiled at the mention of space and turned to Regulus. "It is the most amazing gift anyone could give us and you should definitely go. I believe you can even take someone with you."
She turned away at his next question her eyes returning to the night sky. "No," she said, "not really, but avoidance is never the best course of action." Her eyes still skward she sighed. "There is something, a big something I have to tell everyone." Maia paused for a second before looking to Regulus. "Soon I will have to leave the Basterds," she said a conflicted expression on her face.

Regulus looked startled at this unexpected revelation, giving her an owlish look.
"What? Why?" A laundry list of reasons popped to mind. College... family... the occasionally questionable relationships among the Basterds. Especially lately they felt more... fractured. There were tensions and different views on the way things were going,
Castors 'No one understands my suffering' speech, for example. If he hadn't been dating Europa that one alone might have made him walk. He hated emo s**t.
"Why would you have to leave the Basterds?"

Maia gave sad smile and looked to the sky once again. "Trust me it isn't an easy decision. You all are like family, Themis is family. However, I feel like with everything thats going on that something is missing. I found that something," she said leaning forward, slightly hunched to watch dangling legs.
She just sat looking for a moment before sitting up properly and looking to Regulus, eyes alite with a new flame. "I joined the Blood Moon Court. I am now Blood Moon Senshi." Her eyes returned skyward, but she still sat up straight and poised.
"There is something about them that just seems right, but they demand loyalty to the court which means one team only and thats them."
She smiled, "I was nervous to say something when I should be proud and that isn't right. I just did not know how the team would react. I have heard the rumors, which personally I feel are wrong. I do not want to lose my friends behind this and I thought I might."
Maia turned to Regulus, "still its what I need and I've made my decision, so there no point avoiding it right. No turning back."

"Ok this is where we assume that Regulus has been massively out of the loop during his prolonged absence and forced dealings with his family." Regulus held up a hand to slow her down, clearly lost. "Sorry I've been way way out of the loop. I think I've heard the name dropped but what the hell is Blood Moon?"
The first time he'd heard it he'd wondered if they were like the Dark Moon, the pseudo 'Princess' who had waltzed in and who's prince had lapsed half the city into a coma. He still wasn't comfortable with the parallel senshi, though there were only a handful of them. ((Which was also interesting, and always made him wonder if more wouldn't arrive, following THEIR lost princess.)).

Maia blushed slightly embarassed, "sorry Regulus. I just assumed Europa kept you up to date. I guess its hard to catch up on everything when you missed so much."
Maia brought her legs up, turning toward Regulus and sitting Indian style. "Um, where to start," she mumbled to herself thinking about just how to explain. She was still new and she really did not want to say the wrong thing, to not explain correctly.
"The Blood Moon Court is like a unit, a family of senshi dedicated to making senshi ... um better ... to make sure we can stand against the negaverse. They do not believe Serenity is coming back and are making defeating the negaverse their number one priority. We all have a senshi mentor to look out for us in the lower ranks and a mentoree to look out for in the upper ranks. We train physically, weekly and we all have our tasks. I am a cadet and I still gather information. When we patrol we must check in and if we do not the others will come looking. Thats all I can really say, other than it a good thing for me."
She sat looking Regulus giving him time to take in what she said before speaking again. "That my understanding of it and as I said before loyalty is important. I will have to leave the Basterds to stay in the Blood Moon Court and move up in rank."

" 'Better'." Regulus dropped the word with a obvious incredulity, his thoughts flickering in his eyes so clearly you could almost guess the string of sarcasm waiting to get out, but somehow he managed to bite back most of it, though he couldn't keep the deepening frown off his face.
"That's a loaded term. Some of us are better prepared at the get go, after all." Some senshi just didn't come with really offensive abilities, and unless someone was giving them weapon lisenses...
"How do you make things 'better'? Get a big old apartment so we don't have to deal with curfews? Drop out of school?" He named some of the frustrating hurdles he could think of.
"Seriously though. BLOOD Moon? That's pretty creepy sounding."
Cadet also sounded kind of military, though maybe that made sense, they were almost like soldiers. Being forced to cut out her friends for NOT being in the court though. "I just don't see how being loyal to them somehow conflicts with working with other Senshi I guess. I mean we're all fighting the negaverse, even Hornball Emopants." ((He meant Castor. Regulus was not fond of Castor. It was a territorial thing.))
He scowled out at the field, trying to picture the goings on that would require this behavior, and mostly pictured the usual 'cool kids' groups in school, telling you that you couldn't be around 'so and so' because they weren't cool enough. It didn't make sense in his head.
"Your life, your choice." He pointed out, though he didn't sound like he liked what he'd heard so far, which wasn't much. He didn't like either the idea of someone -else- telling him when he was ready for new rank, bad enough you needed the cats to dole out the upgrades, her suggestion lead to other images, of which he wasn't sure of in terms of accuracy, of another senshi forbidding the cats from giving you more power.

Maia groaned her hands going up to her face before pulling at her curls. Better, grrr, why did her vocabulary failing her now. She fell back to the rooftop with a thump, turning her head away from Regulus.
"Oh, that is not at all how I meant it. Poor choice of words on my part." She sighed trying to rearrange her speech in her head while Regulus shot questions and comments at her. This was what she didn't want, this frustration, this obvious irritation.
She looked at him feeling slightly angry. "Being better prepared at the start is not going to stop a negaverse agent from taking you starseed if given the chance. What about those who are completely defensive in the way of their attack. Like mine, Regulus. My attack effects everybody different. I never know how they will react and therefore I need something more, because when it comes right down to it, its run or fight phyically. Even with an offensive attack, if you exhaust it, than thats it."
"As to how they help that is something you would have to find out for youself. I am not sure I can explain it well. I can say I would never have to even consider dropping out, or my parents going crazy paranoid, like in the summer, or worry about having a good safe place to train."
Her frustration was growing with the conversation and her hair made their way up to her face again sliding up in her hair, pusing her bangs back. She ignored the creepy comment, as Basterds was exactly something most people wanted to be called. "I didn't mean I couldn't work with other senshi. That would be ridiculus and probably impossible. Who would want to?"
She sat up at his last words feeling dejected. He was angry or irritated, she wasn't sure which. She looked over herself and went about fixing her hair and straightening her fuku frustration radiating off of her.
She didn't want to explain any more or talk about it. She would tell Europe hopefully tommorrow and the whole team would know soon.
"Yes, it is," she said simply feeling tired. This is not how she wanted the conversation to go, but at least he accepted it. She could only hope the others would as well.
Maia stood and then looked at Regulus with a sad smile. "I got into Destiny City University,"she said aburptly changing the subject.

"Really?" He felt tired all the sudden, thinking about university, which reminded him of a whole new list of concerns on his plate. "That's awesome. Your folks must be psyched."
He paused again, glad for the subject change he still wasn't entirely sure how to pursue it. "...Any idea what you're going to major in?"

Maia smiled happy Regulus seemed just as happy to change the subject as she. She remained standing, but nodded her eyes taking on a more happy shine. "They are estatic. They have been very worried lately, after catching me sneaking out for the third time. I was almost grounded, but after the letters came all they can talk about it university. They are very happy I chose Destiny City University because I will be close to home. I am excited however to be able to stay on campus!"
Her smiled turned into a grin when he mentioned majors and she rocked back and forth on her heal for a moment before answering. "You are going to think me crazy, but I have decided to undertake a double major. I want to be a famous singer, so music will be the first major, but I must be realistic, so veterinary sciences will be the second."
She turn to Regulus her grin still in place, "What about you Reg? You will graduate this year as well, yes? Have you applied to or been excepted into a college?"

"Ohhh god." Regulus groaned, and it was clear the subject was uncomfortable. "...I put in to go to Destiny U but I haven't checked my mail yet. I'm kind of afraid to.... and there's no way I'm going to be able to double major because I'm going to need to get a job... and someplace to live."
He grimaced, sitting down and putting his chin on his hand, elbow propped on a knee.
"...I want to do something with writing but I don't know if thats really a good idea for a major. I can take something else as my major and do creative writing electives and get more practicality out of the whole affair I think. Too bad the whole Senshi gig doesn't come with a paycheck, right?"

Maia knelt down and put her hand on her friends shoulder, "You shouldn't worry. I bet you acceptance letter is pretty upset you haven't opened it yet. Even more so, you need to let them know you'll be attending."
She laughed lightly, "I'm only undertaking a double major to be practical. I mean yes, I can sing well, but that doesn't mean I will make it as a singer. I haven't so much even attempted to get noticed, well aside from doing karaoke at hindsight, but I'm sure thats not enough."
She sat once more and looked up to the sky with a smile on her face, "can you not stay on campus, at least that would solve the problem of having a place to stay temporarily?"
Maia gave another laugh and smiled at Regulus, "It would be nice wouldn't it. Getting paid to save the world, but no we just have to do it and our reward will be much greater. We will be free of the negaverse and maybe we can uncorrupt their officers, but back to the here and the now." She paused for a moment before continuing on," I think you should do what you want to do. If you want to write and you are good at it go for it."
