Shuuha was walking along the coast line of the beach deep in thought. His parents had told him to go out in search of a mate, but he was having such a hard time with it. For one thing, he wasn't sure what he wanted in a mate. Sex for example. Did he want a male or a female? It was something he had never put much thought into.
He supposed that he had a romantic mindset that when he saw this 'special' fox that he would instantly know it was the right one. So far that was not the case. he had run into many foxes, and none of them had even peeked his interest a tiny bit.
Sighing heavily he wondered if there was even such a thing as a perfect mate for him.

 Finally after days of traveling to hunt down that fox that had dared start a fight with him Arenui had finally arrived a little near his home. Walking out onto a cliff shelf that hung over the ocean he took a deep breath and looked out at the sea. The waves where violently crashing onto the shore and there was a bit of a denseness to the air letting the wave patterned fox know there was probably going to be a storm later on. With a groan he flopped down onto the ground sending pollen up into the air. It figures he was finally back from his trip and could he sit back and relax and his home would become a wet mess. Ah well the utter joys of cave life.
Arenui supposed he could turn back and avoid the storm all together but it would rather defeat the point in traveling home. He made a rather agitated ‘tch sound before flopping over to look at the clouds glaring up at them as if to dare the weather to start raining and ruin the chance for a bit of sleep. Sure enough the clouds thundered over head. “stupid cloud formation” he growled.

Looking up he noticed that it looked like a storm would be rolling in soon. And given his current position that would be bad for the fox. The waves already were too violent for his tastes. It would be better to seek higher ground and wait out the storm. Just as he was about to turn and leave the coast line however he spotted movement out of the corner of his eye.
Intrigued he turned and spotted a fox flopping around on his back. "Uh...." For a split second he feared that the fox was having a sort of seizure, but the movement seemed to be more controlled, and the through fluttered out of his head. Nonetheless, he was interested to see what the fox was doing so he headed in that direction.
"I hate to interrupt.....whatever it is your doing...." He paused, "What is it your doing? If i might ask?" He eyed the fox curious. Ah, he noticed that it was a male. A strange upside down male.

Arenui raised an eye as he stared up at the new commer and let out a sigh. Since he had asked for his name obviously he wasnt normally from around here. In fact most of the time foxes tended to ignore this area. Ah well Arenui could scare him off but the thought of having to take shelter so soon after getting hom irritated him enough. "Watching the sky." he stated in a matter of fact tone. "you randomly come up to foxes with out gauging their hostility first?" He asked.

Shuuha looked at him puzzled, "I didn't really think about it that way....but I have never been attacked without provocation..." He shrugged his shoulder, "Therefore it is a moot point for me...." He tilted his head up and looked at the sky, trying to see what was so interesting about it. Unfortunately he saw nothing out of the ordinary.
"What are you watching the sky for?" He figured there must be something coming, why else would this male be laying there looking up.

Arenui looked over and successfully crushed his urge to let out a small snort of disbelief. Ah well it was only a matter of time before that changed. There where all sorts of upstart foxes that attacked with no warning or change in body language at all. Of course most of the time that happened to be the daevas. "mmm I guess you must be lucky in that aspect. Hmm I guess I'm watching the sky because I can. Its always constant, and most of the time doesnt attack you" this was queue for another glare at the clouds.

"I suppose...." he commented on the lucky part of the conversation, "But the majority of foxes that I have run into were vixen....that could be the reason why I have not been attacked...." He made a face while he thought. The vixens, if they had the sort of personality to attack without proper incentive, refrained it was most likely due to his sex. Males were more physically apt at fighting, at least in most cases he wagered.
"Hm...." He lifted a leg and scratched behind his ear. "Do you find yourself under attack very often." It seemed like the only thing the other fox wished to speak about. Perhaps he was bullied on a regular basis.

"that could be a factor" Arenui pointed out. However that was exactly true some times either. Vixens could be femmenistic and nature and still try to attack you going for the fact in men should hold back against them in a fight. Arenui's eyes lowered a fraction of a bit. Why where they talking about fighting? did it have to do with he seemed to have more answers to that part of the weird conversation that had been started. "Yes, mostly by upstarts who want to make a name for themselves and take over my territory but enough about that" Arenui cut the subject off. Ah well he was making an attempt anyways he should introduce another topic in. "So what has you walking through these parts"

Ah, things made sense now. He had stumbled upon the male's territory. He was indeed lucky to have avoided a fight. He was not used to the strange customs of these outlanders. He must preferred the straight forwardness and gentlemanliness of his home. Things were much more simple. If you wanted to engage in a battle you challenged outright. These 'sneak' attacks that outlanders used were reserved for the lowest scoundrels.
"I am searching for a mate." He stated matter of factly.

Arenui looked over at him and coughed a little wondering why he was out here of all places. "You arent going to find too many vixens out here. There is one up a few clicks to the north but Amaidi isnt really single anymore. Then again, I suppose you could swing the other way" Arenui spoke up. "ah time to take shelter" he stated rolling over back onto and upright position and looked over at the male. He wasnt one to offer up his home as shelter but an even more agitating thing was having to deal with hurt or dead foxes. "I suppose you dont have anywhere to hide the storm out do you?" Arenui asked.

Shuuha was about to tell him that he wasn't sure which gender he was interested in when the fox opened with that question. It was a round about way of inviting him to stay in his den, but reluctantly. He knew when a fox felt obligated to do something, and he wouldn't be a charity case.
"No.....but there are caves near by that I can find shelter in....I won't burden myself upon anyone..." He bowed his head respectfully, "Thank you for the honor of your conversation....It was very stimulating."

Arenui raised an eyebrow at that, he could sense the tone of voice from the other male and noticed there was a slight misunderstanding and that just couldnt do. "ah yes there are caves nearby but they flood rather easily. this isnt some charity case trust me. I dont do things out of pity or obligation or other such trifle emotions. They tie you down in the long run. "think of it...." Arenui trailed off and looked over at the waves. The wind would start picking up any minute and already the waves where threatening to spray him with mist. "as a thank you for something interesting"

"Flooding would be a problem...." He thought carefully on the subject, "If you are certain that I will not become a burden....Then i will accept your hospitality graciously." He bowed his head again.
"But I insist on doing something to show my gratitude....A hunt perhaps....i could acquire dinner for us."

"If I thought you where going to be a burden I doubt I would have offered in the first place. Well I suppose you can catch some fish when we get to our destination. All the prey around here is currently hiding and or sleeping the storm off. Not many would venture this close to the shore line" he pointed out nodding. the new comer might not be so bad if he was willing to clear out his debts. If this could be called one. No it was definitely something else, but arenui was content to let him have his own thoughts on the matter.

"As you wish....." Shuuha smiled for the first time since meeting the male, "I am quite proficient at catching fish...." He nodded his head. Good, at least there was something he could do to repay the kindness that this fox was showing him. He knew that guilt would weigh heavily on his conscious if he didn't to something.
"My name is Shuuha, pardon me for not introducing myself sooner...." He bowed respectively, this time with his whole body.
