Unsure of how to start she backed up and leaned forward, but just before she attempted to take off she stopped abruptly, shook her head, and laid down in the tall grass with her wings folded awkwardly beside her. Hmph. She snorted as she reajusted her wings. Stupid things, what the point if i can't use them. She was arguing to herself. Amethyst decided to try aggain. She once again stood up, the tall grass reaching high on her legs tickled, but she ignored it. She opened up her huge wings. The wind blew and she disliked the feeling of it hitting her wings.
Amethyst glared at the sky and plopped down onto the hard earth. Amethyst was clearly frustrated. She sighed loudly and stared discontentedly into the vast blue unknown.

It was only when a figure appeared a short distance in front of him, that his eyes dragged him back to this world and kept him occupied in observation. He raised his brow, watching her, halting in place. She moved hesitantly over something, although her attention was drawn to the sky, rather than the area around her. He moved closer, gently across the crisp grass trying to be quiet as to not unnerve the stranger or frighten her. His lips curled in to a friendly smile, hearing her sigh as he stood just behind the now, laid mare.
"Is everything alright?" He asked, holding his head high. "I don't mean to be rude miss, but you sound troubled."

Amethyst's eyes practically popped out of her head in surprise. She leapt to her feet and turned to see the stranger that had scared her out of her wits. She turned slowly to look at the stallion whose trap she had fallen into. She timidly looked the stranger up and down. He didn't look dangerous but looks can be decieving, as she had learned from past experience. He too had wings, angeni wings to be exact. She had never met an angeni before but she had seen a few flying in the sky. She was sure he could use his wings which greatened her distaste of the stallion.
"W-w-what do you mean" she stammered. Attempting to appear fearless she too raised her head and stared the angeni into his deep blue eyes. His eyes had no whites, that frightened her. Amethyst felt herself pale, if that was possible. "I dont know what you're talking about" She attempted to speak strongly but there was a clear tremor in her voice. At the first sign of danger run. she thought to herself. Angenis, even halves which he was as she noted his tail, were supposed to be kind. Supposedly. She couldn't help but be skeptical of all these rumors.
Amethyst tried to slow her heavy breathing. There was fear and uncertainty prominant in her eyes.

"Hey, hey. Calm down." He chuckled lightly, as his eyes never moved from her own. She had grown defensive just at his approach, well he had just made her jump, which had been the opposite of his intentions but he rolled his shoulders loosely in a slow shrug. Can't always be a winner. He didn't want to make her feel like he was mocking her just by being there, he had seen what she was trying to do, he was not blind to her hesitation either. She had been attempting to fly.
He tucked his wings in to his side, ruffling until they slid comfortably in place. "You sighed, I wondered if there was something wrong. That's all." He gave her a bright smile, still even as she had raised her head, he was much taller than her. Gaining the height genes from his father. All the males in his family were relatively tall. He started to walk slowly past her, edging out of the way so he didnt walk directly in to her but smoothly slid past her instead. Looking up at the sky.
"Beautiful day, don't you think?" He asked calmly, showing he was no harm. "My name is Alexander. Alex if you will. What shall I call a pretty mare like yourself?" Sure, he had turned on the charm however after a while, it had become something natural to fall in to with words. That must have come from his father too... His eyes never left the sky, holding the lingering silence from his own words, to wait for the mares behind him.

Amethyst's eyes narrowed at the stranger's attempt to calm her down. His laugh mocked her. She would not be mocked by a complete stranger. It didn't help that he gracefully slid his wings in next to him comfortably. Amethyst furrowed her brow. How did he do that?
"And why would I tell you if something was wrong? You're a complete stranger?" she asked indignantly. Still she wanted to know how he folded his wings like that. Her's were still uncomfortably folded. He intimidated her, much taller than she he cast a a slight shadow over her as he walked past, his neatly folded wings brushing her side.
Amethyst sighed and rolled her eyes. She turned around to look at the sky with Alex, he wasn't going to stop being friendly, pretending or otherwise. "Amethyst. My name is Amethyst."

Alex's eyes rolled from the sky and landed on the mare beside him who had also looked to the sky above. "I may be a stranger. Sometimes you have to take chances." He smiled. "But not all strangers are dangerous, I can guarantee you I am no threat and there will be none as long as I'm here." He nodded calmly, he was a knight and he did whatever he could, risked everything for justice and to protect the innocent. "Your eyes tell me your looking to the sky for answers. The answers aren't up there I'm afraid." He turned his gaze back to the blue ocean, with few clouds gathering and passing by. "There down here, in you."
His tone was sure and his eyes held a gentleness to them as they took to the sky. "Don't blame the heavens for your struggles, admire them and they will return it to you." Now he just sounded cheesy, he laughed lightly and shook his head so his sunlit bangs swayed gently by his face. " Want me to show you somewhere where it's easier to learn? We can use baby steps-" Then he realized that she may get defensive again, if she still wasn't in that mode at least. He made a quick note to talk again before she could retort. "Please don't feel insulted, I won't judge, I just feel the need to help. It's easier when you get a few tips." He winked at her, tail curling carefully by his side as he turned and nudged his head to show her she could follow him if she wanted to.
He made his way across the terrain to a boulder not too far away. It wasn't too high but not low enough you could make an easy step to simply walk off either. He waited for her and cast her a reassuring smile looking over her with warm, welcoming eyes. She would get the hang of it with his help if she would welcome it, sometimes that's all it takes to get past those tricky obstacles.
"And don't pretend you don't know what I'm talking about either." He teased playfully, chuckling some more.

'Chance' and 'fate' weren't the sort of things Amethyst would like to lie her life in. "Perhaps not all are dangerous but how do you know which are and which aren't?" It was a retorical question and she wasnt looking for, or expecting an answer. Perhaps she needed to trust 'look for the answers in herself' as the stallion suggested but that's a little difficult, and a tad cheesy, for her. It's more difficult than one might think to see in themselves.
Amethyst's eyes showed a light smile in them as he laughed at his own words. She rolled her eyes at at the use of 'baby' but he began again before she could comment and so she let it go. He tilted his head implying that she could follow him.
She walked her way slowly after him to the large stone. "No judgement." she said forcefully. Yes, she knew what he meant and she would try not to gang up on him for his comments and hints.

"ok." He nodded, then jumped up on to the boulder. He slowly stretched out his wings, as they filtered through in to the air, wide and then lightly moved them up and down, effortlessly. "The best way to get used to your wings is to believe you own them, not the other way around. They're apart of you, so like everything else just don't think about it. It's like thinking about blinking, it gets a bit wierd when you actually think about it but when you go around in your every day life, you must blink how many millions of times." He smiled down at her from the rock.
"Once your here on the boulder. Just give your wings a great stretch so they feel a little loose and more comfortable." He gave an example once more then kept them stretched out. "Once your this far, just back up-" He did so till his hooves were at the very edge of the back of it. "Then make an easy rythm to the front and step off and glide." He did as he said, his body making a short, smooth path through the air and ended in a trot as his hooves touched the ground once and then his body came to a halt. He turned and walked over to her, tucking his wings back in to his sides he smiled softly at her.
"Now you try. You'll be fine." He encouraged. Nudging her cheek gently in support.

As Alex approached the boulder Amethyst quickly tried to find a way to get out of flying but seeing no escape route she resigned to watching the stallion and doing her best not to make a fool of herself. The basic movements seemed fairly simple, but she had no confidence in her flight abilities. The angeni's comparison made her checkle softly, but yet she wondered if her wings were really that connected to her.
It seemed that Alex had warped to her side once he landed, but she realized that she had just been deep in thought and was brought back to reality with his gentle nudge. She gave him a weak smile and approached the booulder. She clumsily climbed up the side, and backed up the way Alex had shown her. Unfortunately the back of the boulder was covered in small pebbles and she briefly lost her balance. Fighting to stay upright Amethyst blushed vividly and attempted to regain her composure. With a deep breath she soothed herself and focused on the task at hand.
The mare stretched out her wings awkwardly and wiggled them about to loosen them up. The wind pushed against her gently, a soft hug from a celestial being. She pranced to the front of the boulder but shied away as she lost her nerve. Amethyst chewed on the inside of her mouth as she circled around back to her starting point to try again. With her hooves clicking the stine in a melodic fashion shemade her way back to the front of the rock. She squeezed her eyes shut tightly and leapt off the front. A short moment of weightlessness and joy engulfed Amethyst but was blown away by the incoming wind. She opened her eyes and her wings wavered as she looked around. She lost control and was plopped none to gently onto the ground below by the breeze.
Amethyst sighed as she untangled her legs and her wings drooped to her sides sadly.
