This is probably a silly idea, but I believe it has possibilities. Tell me what you guys think.
Anyway, remember when Snape demanded in PoA for the Marauder's Map to reveal its secrets and Messrs Moony, wormtail, padfoot, and Prongs just insulted him? Well... if they could communicate these insults, perhaps they could communicate with Harry? I know it's probably just that some insultitng prying teachers was placed into the map, butmaybe maybe the Marauder's Map also works a bit like Riddle's diary. (spoiler) (Except...without the whole having part of his soul in it..) So maybe more along the lines of the Headmaster's portraits? The Marauders were probably powerful enough to do something similiar, and who knows, maybe Harry will be able to talk to a 16 year old version of his dad?

That's a good point. Maybe it just said stuff like that to people that were trying that way to reveal what it says. If the map can tell which person is which (and label them correctly) then it would be able to tell who was trying to read it wouldn't it?

It's a good idea, but...to far out there for my taste. I think that if we question every single thing 'Harry Potter' won't be as intresting when we find things out.

I have to agree...if you question anything too much it will loose its magic. I believe the quote is: "Through the eyes of a child, the world is paradise." This meaning, that childeren simply take things as they come without questions, where as when you get older, you tend to be too rational to think this way.

lol no, it is a good idea, but no. I think the Marauders map just says/does that to people who tried to "get in". lol
Which leads to the question of how the Weasly twins figured it out!?

I imagine it's more of an automatic response. I doubt you could say that there was anything thinking involved when the Map responded. Perhaps they put a block on Snape specifically, and possibly anyone else who tried to get it to work without knowing the password in general. If there are any traces of the four of them in there, it would just be echoes, and it couldn't really have a lot to say to Harry, I imagine.
Even if it did, though, I highly doubt that it will come into play at all in the last book.

Hmm, a good thought. I think it's just a preset thing for incase Snape get's a hold of it, though. It's still a very interesting thought 3nodding

Hm. That's not a silly idea. I've never thought of it. But why not? It couldn't have been that generic of a teacher insult, there were too many specific things in the insult.
