Legend of the Zodiac Before man, before Gods even, there were the twelve Lords and Ladies of the Stars. From them the world was created and from the world, the Gods and demigods that would uphold their law. Finally, the Stars created Man. Each mortal being was born under the sign of his or her creator, giving them small physical and personal traits of the Star they were born under. Each Star served one of the four major elements: Fire, Air, Earth and Water. These traits were passed down to mortals in a small blessing, but not all received the Blessing of the Stars. In the beginnings of their new world, the Zodiac counsel got along with only small squabbles between a few of the Stars. But those squabbles soon turned into full blown fights and tensions grew between the Stars. The Fire signs battled the Water signs in futility. Earth sought to calm the rage between Fire and Water, but to no avail, whilst Air sat whimsically apart from the others, watching with mild interest and never taking sides. Now the unease has begun to settle in the Children of the Stars and their creators' battle soon became their own. In the ordeal, the Stars chose one mortal to fight alongside them, giving them greater power than other Children. These were the Zodiac Heralds, Children who fought for control in the name of their guiding Star. Now the lands have been torn asunder as battles rage between elemental clans. Some fight while others have made treaties and others still prefer to be neutral. The time is now, who will claim the ultimate victory?
The World Divided: Territories of the Clans The Plains of Air- The gently rolling hills and grassy plains of Earth are home to the carefree and free thinking Air Clans. The clans of Air are very close with the creatures of the plains, mainly the birds that roam the skies, creating life long bonds from early ages.
The Green Coasts of Water- These crystal clear waters and evergreen banks of the Green Coasts are home to the Water clans. It is said there is a small cave entrance that leads to the Green Coast from the Plains of Air. The Water and Air clans have no hostilities towards one another and offer aid to each other when they find the aid necessary.
Mountains of Fire- The Fire clans seclude themselves from the other three, finding the fiery mountain ranges to be more to their liking. The climate and terrain are harsh, but the fire clans have adapted amazingly well, building small fortresses into the mountain sides.
Bamboo Forests of Earth- The thick Bamboo Forests of the Earth Clans are one of the few and sacred lands on Earth. The steamy jungles of bamboo have been areas of cease fire and peace, neutral zones that do not choose sides in this war. Though the separate clans of Earth may choose sides, the land does not. There is an understanding amongst all the clans. Fire cleanses dead brush, enriching the soil for new growth while water nourishes the newly growing plants of the jungle and air spreads the seeds of life to new reaches of the land. Here there is peace.
Update!! A new sign has been born, and being so new and fresh to the findings of the Stars that it is susceptible to the bend and sway of whoever finds him or her first. Ophiuchus, the Serpent Holder, has come into the Realm of Stars as the Thirteenth Zodiac. His position is new, though the fire signs seem to accept him willingly as one of their own. Ophiuchus, however, does not wish to join any of them, but instead wishes to treat the madness that has befallen them all, to introduce the healing arts to his brothers so they may cease this errant war. Ophiuchus has yet to find a Herald, but the day he does would mean the end of the war and a peace among the Zodiac clans. The race is on to find this Herald of Ophiuchus! But will it be for a means to an end or will the young Herald's life be at stake? There are those who would see this war through and no Herald of a new Star will get in their way.

((Now open for posting, but please be vigilant in getting more people into this RP. It will definitely be more fun with more people.)) Sarian looked about the Earth, her sparkling blue eyes taking in all that she could. This was her first visit to the earth from the Realm of Stars. The sun was bright and warm, the wind played with her dark hair and the grass bent beneath her bare feet. Sarina reveled in the new sights and sounds, even the different scents that the wind carried with it. Sagittarius had sent her here from her home with him to observe the clans as they were, to find allies and to discover the weakness of his enemies. Earth, she had figured would make a good ally. Strong and malleable, the Earth signs would feed their fire and fuel their lust for battle. The other fire signs were hot tempered and always looking for a fight. Leo was a prime example. Sarina saw how he carried himself in the Realm of Stars, how he spoke to Cancer and Scorpio. She didn't care for his attitude, and Sagittarius found it even more displeasing. But fire was as unpredictable as water. It could warm and nurture one minute, then burn and destroy the next. Sarina strung her bow over her shoulder and scouted the planes, looking to the birds in the skies. Sagittarius was a scholar, a reader of the stars and the messages they brought. She would follow in his hoof prints.

Mariah woke up and stretched, looking around at all of the forest around her. she must have fallen asleep while reading again, she had a bad habit of doing that. she set the book that was on her stomach next to her and got up, cracking her neck and knuckles. she whistled and a golden eagle landed on her shoulder. she pet the bird and smiled, yawning. the bird had been her friend since she had rescued it some time ago, it had a broken wing that needed tending to and she dident hesitate to help. since then, the two were inseperable. "were you in that tree this whole time Liza?" she asked, referring to the tree she had fallen asleep under. the bird dident answer but started flying and opening its wings, as if saying "follow me!". Mariah carefully followed it until she was near Sarian, yet she had no clue that Sarian was nearby in the first place.

Sarian heard the wings of a bird and looked to the skies, her bow still shouldered. A new presence had drifted on the gentle winds and the Sagittarian Herald fixed her crystalline gaze on the approaching Mariah. Sarian had never had interactions with anyone other than the Lords and Ladies of the Stars. She shifted slightly in her spot and reached back for her bow, but thought better of it. This girl had offered her no violence, not yet. The Starborn had gifted the Heralds with an ability to track other Heralds, or at least sense them nearby and Sarian was getting that feeling Sagittarius had mentioned. Was this girl a Herald?

Mariah started getting this strange feeling, like somebody had seen her. but it was different, it was like she knew this person. she had never gotten that before when she visited Earth so it was strange to her. she turned around as she heard sounds of movement, fearing it may be a poacher that could possibly harm Liza. she saw a woman, red haired with a bow slung over her back. she gave a hand signal and Liza returned to her, perching on her shoulder. "i dont think we've met before, do you come to this area often?" she asked. indeed, she had learned the names of all of the inhabitants of the forest and the village nearby, even the animals. and why did she still have this strange feeling?

Sarian wasn't sure what to say. What would she do if she found out that she was a Herald? She had heard stories of opposing elements kidnapping Heralds and using them for their own gain. Who else was out here with them? Was she safe? Sagittarius had told her stories of Earth, warning her that the mortal inhabitants would do anything to obtain her if they knew who and what she was. Sarian removed her bow from her shoulder and held it at her side, plucking an arrow from the quiver at her back. She didn't knock it, but she held onto it, ready to fight if the necessity arose. "I am not acquainted with the... area," She spoke loud enough for Mariah to hear her, but no more. "I come from the Realm of Stars. My name is Sarian... Herald of Sagittarius of the Fire signs,"

Mariah stopped petting Liza when Sarian said who she was. "ah, what a coincidence to meet another one. im Mariah, Herald to the Gemini of the Air signs" she said, smiling. another Herald? how interesting. but that raised a few questions in her mind. "what brings a fire Herald here?" she asked. it was a strange sight to see another Herald other than herself.

Hearing Mariah introduce herself allowed Sarian feel a little more at ease. She put the arrow back in its quiver, but kept her bow in hand. She was in unfamiliar lands and wanted to be ready in case a threat were to arise. "This must be the plains of the Air Clans," Said the Herald, almost to herself. Sarian walked closer towards Mariah, but kept a bit of distance between them. "I was sent here to learn of our opposing clans and seek out alliances." She answered, cocking her head slightly, looking over the other Herald.

Mariah nodded. "well it seems like its your lucky day! you've run into the one person who knows just where everything is!" she said. "just south here we are is a small village that belongs to the air clan, its one of many. if you head westward theres a river, follow it and it would lead you to the Water Clan's lands. and to the southeast would be the border that divides the Air and Earth clans strip shared land, theres a village right in the middle of it where both those of the Earth and Air clan reside. and from there on you can find just Earth Clan lands" she explained, almost out of breath towards the end. Liza pecked her and she gave the bird an annoyed glare. "and just who feeds you and allows you to live under their roof?" she told it.

((So what is our control over our element if we have any?)) Leon was running along the bank of the river. He was supposed to be training, scorpio trying to teach him some discipline but that was a lost cause. Leon laughed as he ran, seeing where he was training leave. He wanted to cross the river, explore other lands before he was forced to go back. Turning he jumped and grabed a branch, using momentum to swing and jump across the river. However his foot had landed on the bank as he slipped and fell backwards into it, causing a loud splash. He quickly swam out soaking wet as he laughed, heading deeper into the forrest his clothes drenched.

((Woops, speaking of Clan Territories, I just added descriptions for them under the Legend in the first post. And Flash, Heralds have a basic control over their elements. Being able to summon it to them to aid in battle or to heal woulds. Non-Heralds have a basic knowledge of how to commune with their element, but no real ability to control it. Make sense?)) The woman looked at Mariah with curiosity. She was a strange girl filled with a care free heir that she held almost instinctively. Sarian felt comfortable around the Herald of Air and strung her bow across her back again. "I thank you for your help," She said, smiling thankfully after Mariah had finished her long winded directions. The Herald of Fire smiled and almost giggled at the bird, seeing their relationship made her miss Tremier, a young mare that was given to her as a gift by Sagittarius. "Perhaps... you could accompany me to the villages of the Air clans. You seem to know them better than I,"

Mariah smiled as she pet Liza, whom was now standing on her arm. "no problem, its my pleasure" she said. she looked out into the rest of the forest when Sarian suggested she accompany her. "sure, i'd love to. and this way if i go with you it wont raise any questions. its rare for one of the clan of Fire to visit, much less a Herald of fire. usually the only outsiders that come are water and earth" she said. she looked down at Liza and tossed her in her air, she flew and perched on a tree just ahead of them. "follow her!" Mariah said as she started walking in the direction the Golden Eagle had gone.[[lol, whoever gets the link between wind and Mariah is officially great]]

((Yup I guessed that)) Leon yawned as he ran. This wasn't as fun as he thought but it was better then training. He jumped and grabbed a branch, swining and launching again. He went through a little clearing, and noticed two girls. He flew barely past one girls head, almost taking her out. His clothes were still dripping as he flew past them, not watching where he was going and crashing into a tree. He slid down it with a yelp.
