This was the last place he ever wanted to be. He wasn't quiet sure why he was coming all the way down here. Sure he had reasons that he told himself: 'Best see what the damages are. Make sure she is alive.' he wasn't quiet sure how he felt of her dying. A small part of him had at one point wished it. It would have made his life much easier. Another could hardly believe she could be hurt. She seemed so, he didn't know the word. The other part of him, the part that had dragged him all the way down here screamed at him that she was a team mate and more importantly, a woman, and he should at least check on her, especially after some time had passed with her office empty.

Whether his next venture was a smart thing or not he went in armed with chocolate. He hoped she was asleep so he could see that she was indeed still alive, deposit the chocolate and make a hasty escape.

The room was quiet but for the hum of lights and machines, everything but the medical equipment done up in blue, beige and cool white. Nadja looked.. much less imposing than she usually did, laid up in bed with bandages and a cast. No one had tied a tag to her toe, though, and there was a glass of water on the side table. That was promising.

More promising was the way her chest rose and fell with steady breaths. The sound of it was muffled by the sighs being heaved by the giant Arcanine stretched out at the foot of the bed in the position known as 'faithful guardian' but more accurately as 'loyally bored.'

On Panther's arrival, he raised his head and got to his feet with a quiet whuff, snuffling loudly in the grunt's direction for a whiff of bad things. This was a large and somewhat vague category, but he'd know them when he smelled them.

The Elite seemed to be asleep, however there was a giant Archanine at the foot of the bed. for a moment he thought maybe it might bark and wake it's owner but the sound that came out was quiet, and more alert then angery.

Unless the smell of a mix of dark chocolate, manly shampoo, fresh cloths, bandages and gauze were something to be threatened by was something to be alarmed this person was probably clean. His pokeballs hung customarily at his waist and his demeanor was slightly nervous but only for a moment. after seeing the elite did not immediately wake from the sound he relaxed and spoke quietly to the large pokemon.

"Hey Moloch. Sorry I don't bring anything for you." he hadn't expected the pokemon to be out of his ball after seeing his owner was ok but now he realized he probably should have. "I did bring a little something for Nadja." he slowly approached, presenting the Chocolate for the pokemon to sniff if he wanted. Canines often saw best with their nose. Despite being bite by a relative of one earlier, he hadn't been struck with fear of large fire breathing Canines, though he did hold his right hand slightly higher then perhaps he needed to.

The scent of chocolate brought Moloch trotting over, plumed tail waving. This one didn't smell of bad things; he smelled of good forbidden things, and the six-foot-something tall dog snuffled all over Panther curiously, mussing his hair - or dislodging his hat if he was wearing it - and possibly goosing him in the process. Nadja's Pokemon took his job very seriously. Visitors - especially new visitors - had to be thoroughly inspected upon entry. He'd had a good brushing recently from someone, and a pan of water was on the floor near where he'd been resting.

The chocolate received special attention, but either the dog was very well trained or had been fed recently, and the offering remained unmolested. Moloch danced back a few paces with another whuff of approval.

Panther waited while he seemed to undergo some sort of inspection. He was ready to pull the chocolate away in case the Arcanine tries to eat it, but did not otherwise impead the large pokemon's investigation. He did let out a small hey as his hat feel and his messy hair was left to run free about his head. after the pokemon stepped away, Panther bent and with his free hand picked up the hat. He winced slightly, setting it on his head once again quickly. Even though quiet some time had passed, his hand was not quiet ready for full use yet. The scared tissue stung with a reminder of exactly how dangerous this type of pokemon could be.

Taking the pokemon's calm as an allowance of passage, he walked into the room, more specifically Nadja's bedside. He gave her a long glance and set the chocolate down by the water which he took as a sign that even though she was prone now, she was awake earlier. His eyes assessed the exposed bandages and he decide that she was indeed almost as bad as Cal was, if not worst. He didn't remember seeing the Elite injured, perhaps he was in a separate van. But he couldn't fathom why he had missed her when he had surveyed the room. It had to be the explosion that caused those damages. Perhaps she had moved from the spot he last saw her on the dance floor while he was distracted with his target. A somber aura settled over him for a few moments, as he was lost in his thoughts, staring at her, but truly seeing pass her.

Nadja's face was paler than it usually was, neither glowing from a brisk walk or colored with ire, and her expression was the solemn, impassive mask of a sleeper. Her hair's usual bright luster had dulled from the stress of healing, and it fanned out in an erratic halo around her face. Without the uniform, the sharp expression and the polished grooming, she looked like an ordinary, delicate-featured woman.

"Phwoh," Moloch commented, sitting down beside Panther like he was any other bedside visitor rather than a massive firebreathing dog. Blue eyes were turned on the grunt, big and earnest. 'It's bad, isn't it?' they seemed to say. 'My person's hurt. Can you help her?' He snuffled at the man again, on the basis that he smelled like chocolate and chocolate was rarely a bad smell.

"If you're going to smother me with a pillow," Nadja said, "make it quick."

Moloch sat himself beside him, and the grunt gently put his now free hand on the pokmon's head, rubbing it absentmindedly. There was nothing he could to to help the elite, except bring offerings of chocolate, and that wouldn't make her better.

Suddenly, she spoke. He jumped, taking a step back and his heart suddenly going a thousand miles per hour. He had been caught! He fought down the urge to get the heck out of doge. That would only make her more likely to think he had been actually contemplating that, though it wasn't a half bad idea. A moment later his poster turned to stone and his relaxed and calm aura was completely gone.

"I wasn't planing on it." he contemplated telling her that if she wanted, he would happily do it, but, "Besides, if I did your guard dog would probably bite me, drag me off you and then roast me over a spit. I'm not too kin on a replay of the raid thanks." he reached for his injured hand and rubbed the arm. With the Ninetails he had been lucky to keep his hand in one piece. Quick thinking and Shade's loyalty were all that was between becoming a one armed wonder and coming away with only his small injury.

He did realize she was probably going to chew him out, or perhaps demote him for his little outburst, but the sarcasm rolled so easily off his tongue, especially when he was caught off guard.

"I'd say that's an accurate prediction." Nadja didn't open her eyes. She could tell who it was by voice; little details like Panther's insouciant baritone had etched themselves in her memory after the Pidgey incident. But she was, on the whole, concerned with things greater than a forward-speaking grunt, and if Moloch had allowed him in he was probably all right. If he wasn't, Moloch was also a six and a half foot tall canine monstrosity capable of biting someone's head off.

Either way it worked.

"Don't mind me; just wishful thinking," the woman said while Moloch hummed and tilted his head into position for an ear scratch, continuing straight on into, "Did you enjoy your outing? Up until being bitten by the Ninetales, unless there's something I don't know about."

How did she know? Someone must have told her, he decided, but he wasn't sure why she was so calm. Likely the drugs, Cal had acted rather odd as well, but that was directly after a surgery too.

He relaxed just the tiniest bit. The big dog was wanting more attention and he complied allowing himself to relax further. The feeling fur between his fingers acting as a stress reliever. Nadja wasn't looking or telling him to stop, so he didn't worry to much about her opinion of his petting the large dog.

He collected his thoughts before responding, "It was pretty fun. Even being bitten wasn't a big deal, I managed to neutralize the Ninetails and steal it. What concerns me more is what happened with that blast. I didn't see it coming, and too many were injured during it." his mind drifted back to seeing Cal bloody and injured. There was more in the emergency room right after. He had been one of the lucky ones in comparison.

Fun? Interesting.

If she had been in full control of her mental faculties, Nadja would have filed Panther's assessment of the pyrrhic victory away for later perusal. As it was, the remark slipped out of her consciousness with frustrating ease and became a fading echo.

"Fun," the elite repeated, and her shoulders move in what might have been a sigh or just an attempt to shift herself. "Yes, you did quite well for yourself, and looked after your partner." It was a neutral comment; her energy was devoted to repair, not inflection. At mention of the blast, her features tightened. Moloch rolled his eyes toward her sympathetically, but didn't move from the petting hand.

"You probably know - that wasn't part of the plan."

Out of all the things he thought he might hear, praise was not something he expected. the lack of tone in the words didn't lessen the impact, he was coming to expect the flatness of her voice. He hadn't really thought much of taking care of his partner. That was the point of going in pairs.

He shrugged a bit and turned his attention to focus on the large happy dog. "I didn't think it was." he probably should have expected something like that would have happened eventually. The only time he wanted to be around an explosion of that caliber is when he was expecting it, or better yet in control of it. He gave the Arcanine some extra scratchings.

"No. It'll be looked into." News came late when it came at all in this place, but she could make some assumptions. One was that Moloch was happy; he was thrumming deep in his chest, and she could feel the breeze from his waving tail.

Talking was tiring, and there was a dearth of topics; what she had in common with Panther was punishment and a long history of resentment. After silence for a time, the elite half turned her head and opened gray eyes at the grunt.

"I have no idea what to say to you," she admitted, as if something was expected.

He nodded at the first comment, he expected as much. it was likely he would not be told much even if they found anything. "Nothing is needed." the elite seemed tired. He decided it would be best of she was left to rest. "I brought you some chocolate. It won't make you better, but..." he shrugged not really knowing what to say or even if she would want it. He really had hoped she wouldn't be awake when he snuck by. "I'll let you rest." Releasing Moloch from his hold he gave her a small mockery of a salute and turned to leave.
