 Another chilly day gone and past. When was this terrible season going to end anyways? It was too cold for him. Rajput grumbled a few choice words about the weather under his breath, as he slowly stumbled across the forest, unused to so many gnarled roots sticking out haphazardly from the ground, and the slippery wet leaves that had gathered in random places. Needless to say, the stallion was in need of a good wash, his whole entire body muddy and covered in filth.
At least the forest had one good thing. Food. And lots of it. Thankfully, that flutter he had met the other day had aided him in finding food during this stupid season. His negative thoughts about winter were cut short as he realized the trees where thinning out, the forest suddenly becoming much brighter. His mint green eyes squinting from the sudden flood of light, he slowly walked toward the clearing curious where this would lead to.
Water. It was just a bunch of water. Surprised (and a bit curious), he stepped out feeling his hoof step into something familiarly soft. Looking down and around the ground before him was sand. Sand! He could've just burst out laughing right then. Suddenly very much joyful (and quite unlike himself), he stepped out, pawing at the sand around him, small grin forming across his face.

 The chilly weather was not something an islander mare was accustomed to find comfort in. The mare had a shaggier coat than most, but the whipping cold from the winds of the sea and the cold temperatures, her coat could only help so much. Of course, she had found shelter when the weather was too cold to be out in, but the fact that she did have to eat to survive made things worse. She could no longer go swimming in the water to find food for she feared that she could grow ill in the cold temperatures of the water. She dared not venture into the forest, for it was too foreign to her, and she had no idea what was edible or not in this land. She was used to her homeland where she would find tropical fruit on the beach but, the beaches here were not fruitful as she would hope.
Cold and hungry would be the two worst combinations of feelings to have at this time. The mare felt the spasm of her muscles causing her to shiver to try to keep her body warm. Her hair was windblown, appeared to stick together from some salt water getting into her hair, and strands of hair flipped in odd directions whereas her hair would cascade gently in soft waves in an orderly fashion on a calmer day.
The young mare sighed, wondering if she dared trying to investigate the forest around her. Her hazel eyes turned to the forest’s edge with feelings of anxiety. Maybe it was time she went out of her comfort zone to live by the ocean and start traveling inwards toward the mainland.
