The trees had been restless as of late, and it was a sign that Yakut could not ignore. Of course she also couldn't ignore her five pups either. They were growing quickly, gaining strength and showing off their individual quirks. Normally she would have sent the pups to the pack nanny to watch over during the day, however with two pups being affected by their fathers silver eyed curse Yakut kept them in her own den. It's not that she didn't trust Seraphin to look after her pups, but she was unsure how the quiet female would react if Oracle got into one of her regular arguments with her sister or if Occult started talking about the souls of the dead deer they ate the previous day. For now it was best to keep them with her, until they learned better control over their apparently powers.
At this very moment the pups were napping in the confines of her den, which would allow the Shamaness to preform a quick task. She had gathered a few materials from within her den, a turtle shell, a few rocks, and one of the sisters had brought by a freshly killed rabbit only moments before. Time to begin. She closed her eyes for a moment and listened to the trees whispers. Change was coming, of that she was certain. Another wolf would have said it was the change of season Yakut was feeling, but the Shamaness would have argued that, this sounded different and was directly related to the pack itself.
Biting into the rabbit, Yakut laid it so that it's blood could drain into the turtle shell. The way the blood flowed, how it filled up the shell and any bubbles or clots that may be present would speak greatly to her.

Today would be the day, the day when she spoke with Yakut, the packs Shamaness to ensure that it was indeed time for Orithia to take her place beside her as co-leader of the pack. Penthesilea felt that her daughter was ready, but traditions and rules dictated that they must speak with the Shamaness to ensure that it was the proper time. It would be no good to have Orithia declared as co-leader if the Shamaness read in her stones and other various trinkets that the time was wrong. So the Queen needed to know. She had tracked down Orithia and the two set off to the Shamaness' den.
Spotting Yakut outside Penthesilea approached quietly, not wanting to interrupt what Yakut was doing. She may be the leader of the pack but interfering with a reading could prove dangerous for herself and the pack. Bringing her paws to a stop Penthesilea stood quietly, waiting for Yakut to finish.

Mother had come to get her before she even reached the training grounds for the afternoon training. Something was going on but nothing had been said other than they were going to see Yakut. Following along behind the Queen silently as they approached the Shamaness den, Orithia gazed curiously at the dark colored wolf. She seemed so concentrated on the blood in that shell that Orithia wasn't sure if she even knew whether they were here or not. What exactly was Yakut trying to do? Orithia could not see anything special about he blood, it was just blood, but then again she was not trained in the arts of the Shamaness way. So, like her mother she stood silently waiting for them to be acknowledged.

So they had come. Yakut stated intently at the blood as it reached the end of it's flow. Carefully she picked up the rabbit's carcass and placed it beside the shell. Then she picked up a few small pebbles in her mouth and gentle tossed them into the blood. Interesting, very interesting. Her eyes looked up at the Queen and Princess. "My Queen, Princess. Change is coming." She announced with a dip of her head. Yes, change was indeed coming, though the blood was being vague still. She needed something from each of these wolves to add to the blood.
Stepping forward the Shamaness plucked a feather out from the Queen's fur and then did the same to Orithia. Catching the slightly shocked look that the teen gave her Yakut gave her head a little shake and then tossed the feathers into the blood. As the feathers settled in and soaked up the blood Yaktu glanced up at Orithia again. "Can always get more feathers, that one was needed here and now." Turning her attention back to the feathers and blood Yakut moved her head closer to get a better look. Ah, well that is not entirely unexpected. "What is on your mind, my Queen?"

The Queen did not move nor speak whent he feather was taken from her. If Yakut needed one of her feathers for this reading then she would allow that. Perhaps the Shamaness was already thinking ahead, knowing what she had come here to speak about. She watched in silence as Yakut also took a feather from Orithia and then placed them in the shell. Having been present at nearly every ceremony and reading since she had been an adviser to the previous Queen and now oversaw things herself, Penthesilea had some knowledge of the signs one looked for. But without knowing which reading Yakut was preforming she could not entirely see what was to come.
Of course she could agree to the change that was mentioned. Not only was winter fast approaching, but if things went well then Orithia would be ruling at her side. "I wish to know if this is a good time for Orithia to take her proper place at my side." Penthesilea answered, though her eyes were still on the blood and feathers. "Is there anything we should be concerned about?"

Orithia could not help but flinch and give the Shamaness a weird look when one of her feathers was taken. She was quite attached to those decorations, they spoke of her birthright and rank. Of course when Yakut pointed out that they were needed and that others could always be found the Princess lowered her head just a little bit in submission. To think she had just acted almost rude to the packs Shamaness, someone who was as important as her mother to the packs safety and strength. She would need to work on this in the future.
Ears perked forward at her mothers words. Is that why they had come, why she had been pulled out of training today? Orithia was now more curious than ever. Mother had been spending extra time with her, teaching her everything that she could, taking her on trips outside of the pack. And while Orithia always knew it was her birthright to follow her mother into the position of Queen she was a bit surprised to hear this now. The small Princess turned her attention back to the Shamaness to hear what she had to say.

Yakut nodded at the question and set about reading the blood once more. Now with the feathers mixed in the vagueness of it's answer was beginning to clear. She could now see things that it had previously refused to show. This meant that the change that she had felt coming did directly affect the Queen and Princess. "Ah yes I see. Change is coming. Change for you both." Carefully she lifted a paw and shifted one of the pebbles to more clearly see the pattern it had made when she had thrown it in. Hm that wasn't good, she thought as she looked upon the bubble in the blood followed by a dot and line that had been created by the pebble. But, she looked at the feathers again, it was all about balance, bringing the good with the bad. Yes, they would be okay.
"Time to ascend, time to take her place. It is upon us. She has learned much and while she still has more to learn she will do so as our second Queen." Yakut addressed Penthesilea before turning her attention to Orithia. The teen seemed a bit excited to hear the news, but there was a concern in Yakut's eyes. "Withhold you excitement for a moment young one. I see you as our second Queen, but I also see conflict in your near future. I cannot however see who it involves or when it will happen. Be on your guard, do not let your reign over us be cut short."

She could not help but blow an initial sign of relief at those words. Now she knew that she had been right, Orithia was ready to lead at her side. It had been too long since the pack had had a rightful blood heir take their place beside their Queen and Penthesilea felt honored that such an instance was happening to her. But then she caught the shift in the older wolfs eyes and concern ripped through her. Orithia had struggled her entire life, and now it would seem she would have another fight on her paws. Not knowing what was to come was a bit unsettling but even Yakut with all her training could not see nor predict everything. Nature had a way of being vague at times.
"She has fought her entire life, I am sure what whatever awaits her in the near future she will overcome as well." Penthesilea stated confidently and gave her daughter a nod.

Time to ascend to her place. Those words echoed through Orithia's skull. Not only did mother feel confident in her taking a place at her side, but even Yakut had read in the blood that it was indeed her time. But the mention of an unknown conflict pretty much smashed any happiness that Orithia had been feeling into tiny broken pieces. She was not the best fighter in the pack, but could hold her own for a while if needed. "Thank you for the warning Shamaness. I will be certain to stay alert at all times, I wish to keep my place in the pack for as long as possible."
Glancing at her mother that small nod the Queen gave restored Orithia's confidence a bit. All would be well, she just needed to not let her guard down. Slowly she looked back upon Yakut. "Your service to the Sisters and pack is an important one. You have showed great loyalty to my mother and I hope that loyalty will be extended to myself now."

"It is not my warning, but that of the blood. I only say what it cannot." Yakut pointed out to the young female. Shifting her body a bit Yakut stood erect, but not higher than the two before her and bowed her head respectively. "I will serve you as I have served your mother. Your place within the pack has been deemed rightful and I am happy to be under your rule." As Yakut relaxed a bit, she looked between mother and daughter. "You are both strong females of our ways. Together and separately you will see to ensure that this pack has a strong future for generations to come. I am honored to serve you both, to serve the pack." What exactly that future held Yakut was not certain, the blood and trees could only tell her so much at this time. But what she did know was outside of the conflict that Orithia was going to face she did not read any other negative occasions that would affect the pack for some time. All would be well with this two leading them.

Penthesilea gave her head a small nod in acknowledgment of Yakut's statement. "And I am honored to have you serve me and my daughter. The pack has done well now that you have returned to us and I look forward to the day when your daughters join the ranks of the warriors and your sons take their place as slaves." Of course the Queen knew that Yakut's pups were a bit different that the others, but that was not concerned to her. Every wolf in these lands had some quirk, be it big or small, and they all have to overlook those quirks in order to run as a well ordered pack. It was the way things were here and in every other pack she had encountered in her life.

"Thank you for your continued support Shamaness. May the strength of the Sisters continue to thrive as it has for many years. Your daughters will serve us well when they join the warriors, your sons will make fine slaves." Even if that one thought he could become a warrior, she added mentally. Perhaps the young male just didn't fully understand how things were done here, but she did find it a bit cute that he was so determined to reach a goal that was unobtainable to him. "Is there anything else that we should know? Or is that all the blood has revealed today?"

Yakut bowed her head once more. "I will always serve the Sisters until the day I take my final breath." And even after that her service would continue, though it would be from the realm of the spirits, taking care of the sisters who had fallen in the many years since their pack was first created. Perhaps she would be able to meet Necro's mother in the spirit world as well, as there were many questions she would like to ask the spirit wolf. Another time, another concern.
Her gaze turned to Orithia. "That is all the blood wished to reveal at this time. Not everything is to be known before it happens, some things must be kept secret so we stay alert. Remember young one, take heed of my warning, do not let your guard fall." It would be a tragic end to such a young life, especially one with such potential, but should anything happen to the heir Yakut knew that there were others to take her place if needed, that one of her sisters would ascend in her place.

The Queen nodded, taking in those words. It was always good to head the reinforced support of those who were and always would be loyal to her and the pack. A pack that would one day fall completely to Orithia to rule over, until she too had pups of her own to take her place, but that was sometime off. "I am certain that Orithia will take your warning to heart. We will all keep our eyes out for her, as a pack should. Thank you for your time and wisdom Shamaness. We will leave you to your other duties now." Giving the Shamaness a final nod the Queen turned and padded off, Orithia could make part of the afternoon training session if they hurried.

"I will keep on my guard Shamaness, I do not wish to see my new rule end so quickly." Orithia nodded to Yakut and turned following after her mother. Everything was different now, she was no longer just Orithia, she was now the co-leader of the pack. This meant more duties and responsibilities to take care of while still attending all of her regular training. It was exciting and scary at the same time, but the young wolf knew that she would see to it without much trouble as long as she overcame whatever conflict was awaiting her in the future.
Hurrying to catch up to her mother Orithia let her thoughts drift as bit as they made their was towards the training grounds. Just wait until she told her sisters about what had happened, wouldn't they be excited.
