Demon woke up with a sore head, his vision was blurred and it took a moment for consciousness to actually take over properly. Slowly he woke up. Shapes started to come into focus but when he went to move something heavy around his neck weighed him down. It took another half an hour before Demon was full aware of his surroundings, and the fact that there was a two-leggers devise around his neck. It jingled and jangled, and shimmered in the light.... but Demon didn't really know what it was. He growled low in throat and tried to free himself. It dug into the sentative flesh around his neck but refused to budge. Frustrated he kicked out with back legs at a tree behind him, he thought he heard a thank 'crack' but didn't really care about that. He stood up slowly, the chain around his neck giving him little slack. She had done this to him... with her claims of wanting to make him her protector or guardian.... or if she couldn't have him for that she would take him as her slave. Was he now her slave? If she thought to do that to him he would show her.... somehow..... Demon was not a colt who would take such a punishment lying down.

Blood-Queen Lana'thel watched her new captive in secret, a silent lick of her lips at the colt did exactly what she expected... he fought. It was the spirit that she couldn't force into someone, if anything the intense training she planned to install upon this colt the spirit would be the first thing to go. She only hoped he was as fiesty as he appeared.
She watched for a moment longer, not bothered at all that he was struggling for freedom, or that he was tearing into his flesh with each struggled movement he made. No, the blood actually excited her, proved she was right.... he was strong, but he could be stronger!
Coming out of the shadows Lana'thel approached her new captive slowly, not wanting to feel his bark just yet. "Ah.... my little captive, I see you have woken already. Impressive." She raised an eyebrow, "So.... are you ready for your first lesson?"

Demon hissed but turned his attention to the voice straight away, his eyes narrowed, his heart thundered within his chest, and although he was too proud to give up part of him felt... defeated.... here he was, so small and chained while she stook tall and dominating. Her Dragon-esque wings both intimidating and impressive, and reminding him strangely of those belonging to his grandmother. He had to admit that he wanted to shiver. How was he going to escape her? How could he get away from such raw power?
Unable to accept the truth he turned his head away and looked to the ground, he growled low under his breath, his elongated fangs glistening.
He wanted nothing to do with her and her 'lessons', perhaps if he simply ignored her she would go away? He knew it was a long shot but it was a shot, and hopefully if things did turn to the worst he would prove to be the most stubborn.

Lana'thel couldn't resist, she burst into laughter. "Oh what spirit!" She teased and taunted as she took a step closer, she used one of her long eary claws to reach for him, forcing him to turn his head towards her. "But I will break it if I have to... you will be mine. I need someone strong...."
Icecrown Citadel wiggled on Lana'thels shoulder at this point and giggled at Demon. "Resistance is futile." She muttered.
Lana'thel ignored her familar, tempted to knock her to the ground in punishment for her arrogance; but right now she had bigger things to destroy and shape. "...to be strong, little captive... you need to learn to accept pain, to use it, to harness it.... I will show you how."
Of course, that simply meant that she would beat the colt within an inche of his life again and again until he could take it and still stand. Only then would he be ready to train as her servant of protection.... and Lana'thel knew, she simply must have him!
"What do you say to that?" She asked, digging her claw in deeper, the green strong leaving an eerie glow on his face that was broken only by the white glow of his eyes. What a fascinating creature he was.

Demon heard her words of menace and saw them for what they were... a promise of torture. He shut his eyes, a near child-like hope that she would disappear, that this would all turn out to be a dream and that he would wake to find himself sat with his siblings with a fresh kill spread before them. Yet as he opened his eyes he knew.... nothing had changed. Metal still bit into his neck with that alien clanking of metal on metal.
Reluctantly he looked up at his captor, again he was struck by her dark beauty but he couldn't think on that for long as hatred for the creature started to bubble up.
He only hoped that when the time came he didn't cry or scream.... yet even as the thought crossed his mind his legs began to shake, his heart thundered so loud that it echoed in his ears; he knew it was likely she could hear it.....
....and with each moment that passed he simply stood in wait for the pain that was about to come.

Lana'thel disliked being ignored, though she could approve of his spirit she simply couldn't have him disrepecting her.... no one disrepected her. Anger bubbling she found herself frowning down at the colt, for a moment she remained silent.... half hoping he would come to his sences and reply, yet as the seconds ticked by her anger only grew until she could no longer contain it. "HOW DARE YOU IGNORE ME!" She knew he could still move a lot, but with the element of surprise on her side she was sure she would get a good strike. With a evil grace to her movements she struck Demon with her tail, the fine hairs slapping against his skin like a thousand needles. "You will learn..... you will." She growled.
Looking at her small familar she nodded softly, sending her into action.
Icecrown Citadel smiled at her master and swiftly ran down Lana'thels shoulder and towards Demon. She had been given orders to bite and scratch, to tug and pull, to move quickly and strike often. Teeth and claws at the ready she jumped Demon from behind, biting and clawing her way over his rear leg and rump before running over his back and grabbing his ear.
Icecrown knew that sometimes lots of small injuries stung more than one large one.... and she would do her master proud.
Lana'thel smiled, her dull eyes blending into her face as she narrowed her eyes to watch the 'festivities'. The gems on her headpiece and wings glowing, casting an eerie green light around them. It hightlighted Icecrowns teeth, the change around Demon's neck... even his glowing eyes seemed to shine green from her glow. Out of two of them she was the master here.... and she knew he would soon learn that.
With a lazy grace she turned to leave, stopping only before the cell's exit to say one word. "Enjoy." In many ways her word was addressed to both of them.... for Demon to enjoy the pain that Icecrown would bestow, and for Icecrown to enjoy dealing it.

Demon refused to look at her, refused to for two reasons. One, he knew it would destroy the last of his courage since his legs had already begun their shaky dance. Two, he didn't want to indulge her.... to let her win.... though perhaps that was futile.
When she bellowed at him, lashing him with a whip that felt like a thousand bee stings burying deep within his flesh, he hoped it would be the worst of their first encounter. A hope that was short lived...
He never saw the order arrive, or hear the soft patter of tiny squirral paws on the cold ground beneithe his hooves... but he felt the pain. A yelp left his lips as surprise filled his expression, and with each n** and bite his did his best to dislogde his opponant. But they were to quick, able to use his own movements against him as they bit into tender muscles and flesh. He wanted to scream. The path of tender spots seemed to throb and add to the pain of each new inflicted wound.
Even though he was a proud Kalona, believing that his race were invicible and unable to feel pain, he couldn't help but scream. Nothing had prepared him for this......
....he was so distracted, wriggling and writhing in an effort to disloge his attacker that he never noticed Lana'thel leaving.... and never heard her parting word.

As Lana'thel left her prisoner behind she couldn't help but smile with satifaction as he screamed. Though she had to admit he 'caved' quicker than she would have originally expected she was unable to hold it against the young kalona colt. She needed to break him. To show him pain and teach him to embrace it... only then would he truely be worthy of being her personal guard. And oh how she was going to make him her personal guard. She licked her lips in anticipation. It would take time... but she could be patient. Oh so patient.

Demon's lay flat on the floor. The digging of the metal around his swollen neck the least of his worries.
His sight was near none exsistance after a headbutt from his new 'master' that had left him bloody and dizzy. The headache still lingered along with the dull throb of pain that he assumed was a broken bone. His mouth wad dry from lack of food and water... yet he didn't care much about that, the constant taste of blood was far more disturbing. His small body ached. Blood, cuts, bites.... were everywhere. Not a single part of his body didn't hurt.
When Lana'thel had threatened to 'introduce him to pain' he had never expected this. This felt like death. The constant darkness seemed to stick to him like a second skin, and in a way was his only protection... sometimes he could evade his 'master' if he closed his glowing eyes. Of course that only lasted for a moment.
He was still fighting, but with each new bruise and injury his attempts seemed to have less and less effect.... so much so that Demon was contemplating something terrible. Giving her what she wanted.
He shivered. The cold getting to him, the musky smell filling his nostrils and making him want to vomit. Slowly he moved his head in an attempt to lessen the headache. The sicken jingling of the chain around his neck a reminder of the truth.
Demon... was going now where soon.

Lana'thel entered Demon's cell, licking her lips in a way that seemed to be common around her young colt. He was handling pain well, whimpering less and less.... accepting his fate. Of course she had to hope that his spirit remained in tack.... at least for the most part. After all she wanted her little toy to be fierce. Unquestioned by anyone but herself. Unwavering as he followed her every command. HERS!
Her eyes adjusted quickly, the menacing glow from her body aiding her adjustment to the darkness. "How is my little captive doing today?" She all but purred the words as she turned her head to locate him. He had long ago abandoned his attempt to hide from her, finding that she only punished him more for it.
"You have healed well." She walked towards him, enjoying the slight flinch that came her way. "Did you miss me little captive?" She stood before him, waiting for a reply.
Icecrown sat on Lana'thels shoulder, watching the scene unfold before her. She had sharpened her teeth and claws expecially for this.... oh how she enjoyed her favourite chew toy.

Demon hated when she called him 'little captive', her annoying nickname for him. Hated even more how he flinched when she approached.
He had long ago accepted that this would not end if he continued to fight.... no... he needed another plan. He needed to gain her trust, to manipulate her the same way she planned to manipulate him.... maybe then he would find his escape.
Demon hadn't even up on the prospect of escape. Perhaps it was a foolish colt dream, but he couldn't help it.
The pain in his body was a constant reminder. No longer did it mean defeat... no... it also meant survival.
She had been right about something.... he was slowly getting use to the pain, or perhaps just his reaction to it. It had been a whole week since he last screamed.
Knowing that she would 'punish' him should he refuse to answer her he found himself reluctantly speaking. "Always mistress." He knew that she didn't like him speaking too much.... in fact the fewer words the better.

Lana'thel grinned down at her pet. "Good little captive.... perhaps soon I shall get to show you off as my pet to the world." Part of her had been dying to show him off, chained in gold beside her at all times.
The idea was very appealing.
She lowered her wing claw under his chin lifting his head to look at her. "Tell me I am beautiful. Tell me I am your master." The commanding nature of her words was second nature to her, she was used to giving orders... and even more used to having them followed without question.

For a brief moment his heart soared, a silly thing considering he was not fool enough to believe she would unchain him. Yet, the prospect of leaving this place.... even for a moment. Tantilising.
Demon growled, the noise was low and instinctive.... something he had thought to had lost with her continious beatings, but there it was although less agressive than before. It reminded Demon of his plan, of hope.... and the small little kalona couldn't help but give up on that.
Still, he did as he was told. Conditioned to expect worst things if he didn't. Every word stuck on his dry tongue, he had not ate in three days and the last of his water had just run out despite his rationing it.... of course with the rats and mice helping him it was a wonder it had lasted at all. "Beautiful master." Again he spoke the least number of words he could think of to please her.
Part of Demon's mind drifted to the 'family' he had left behind him, they would not come looking for him.... expecting that he simply went off exploring and found something good to terrorise. Even his sister Fathom who he was closest to would thinking nothing out of place by his absence..... he was alone here. No one was coming for him. He only had himself to rely on.
Demon knew what he needed to do. Become stronger. But as his ribs dug into his move skinny flesh, as the blood stains dried and lingered, and with every clank of the chain he found his task harder and harder.
His mind drifted to words his mother had once said to him, "A true Kalona is power and strength, they need no one to spread their evil in the world. Be strong my little Demon." ....could he though?
