This RP is between Zosime (magnadearel) and Thosi Pandryl (Divena and Divenasmom)  Thosi surveyed the base of their home cliffs, thoughtfully. A through examination of the caves had shown her that Zo had been right. There were no entrances in or out that anyone without wings could use. That didn't sit right with Thosi. It was a loophole that could bite them in the tails. She contemplated a way to create a bolt hole.

 Zosime had been foraging with her familiar Kalril. Hunting only small prey took up a surprising large amount of her time. She was grateful for the hawk's help. Leaving the hunting area behind where Kalril continued to hunt she flew to the herd's den? cave? home? Zo made a note to work on that.
She landed in time for her meeting with Thosi. The black mare had no idea why the Alpha wanted to discus when Zo had been asked to meet her at this time. "Thosi?" she called, looking for the red and gold mare.

Thosi came forward when she saw her second in command. "I'm here," she assured Zo. "You're on time. Good. You know these tunnels better than I, though only barely. Where would be the best place to dig?"

Zosime twitched her tail at the slight. She'd been through these tunnels like a gopher through its holes. First checking for bad critters, then looking for the different areas they'd need, and most importantly fresh water. Certainly she knew them better than that.
"Dig? Why would you need to dig? Is your rooms not big enough?" They were some of the largest single caves in the system. How couldn't they be big enough? Zo started to get a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach.

"We're going to create a bolt hole," Thosi answered, her tone making it clear that she was dead set on this, and wouldn't tolerate argument.

"What do you mean a bolt hole?" She sounded dumbfounded. "Where would it go?"

"Out," Thosi frowned. Zo was usually smarter than that, she was sure. "For those who are not capable of flying on their own, or overburdened."

Zo shook her head. "We talked about this. Any aperture that allowed a member to walk out will also allow a non-member to walk in. We cannot allow that to happen."
She wondered if Thosi was aiming for exactly that. Did she really have the best interest of the herd in mind or was it for reasons of her own. They were a flighted herd only for a reason. If Thosi made this hole of hers, then they might as well throw it open to any damn soq. This Zosime could not allow.

"And ask I've said before, you refuse to take all factors into consideration. There's nothing to stop another flighted herd from attacking us. Without an escape, we'd sitting ducks.... so to speak. We WILL have that escape."

Zo tossed her head in agitation. Why wasn't Thosi listening?! "We cannot! Instead of just having to worry about flighted herds we'll have to protect our heads and asses!" She tried to calm her voice, so she didn't sound panicked. The idea of having to worry about what was behind her instead of solid rock made her more nervous than she liked.
"A tunnel as such your talking about, would open us to double the amount of danger. Ducks are defenseless. We are not!" She said the last proudly. No one would take the caves without a fight to the death with her first.

Zosime snorted. "What worst case scenarios? Do you even know what you're talking about?" She reared slightly. "I wont trust until you prove it! Until such a time we will Not have those tunnels!

Zo laid back her ears and feathers. "It will only ever be too late if you give up on us and your family. Only then would we loose. Perhaps you are not the strong leader I thought you were."
