Since the raid, things had been very quiet for the lowly grunt Panther. He had been put on medical leave, which gave him a lot of free time, most of which was spent either sleeping off the pain or watching over Cal. The later was currently doing much better, which allowed his mind to relaxed, however this left him terribly bored.

He couldn't do much work. Grunt work generally consisted of menial physical tasks none of which he was currently really able to do. And with medical leave he wasn't about to volunteer to do something extra. However as he had found, his injury also limited his other options, such as getting off base. His final option was to train, but there was only so much training they could do before even shadow wilted and wanted a break. He couldn't push them too hard.

The final option, reading was something he could only do for short periods at a time before he could no longer sit still anymore. This left him doing something he found himself doing more and more often since he got on medical leave, pacing the halls. The halls were generally empty at the moment, and an unfocused look had crawled across his face, and a fuzzy feeling, possibly partially from pain killers had crossed his brain when he spotted a figure up ahead in the hall. A girl with bouncing piggy tails. A small smirk crept across his face, she was definitely a grunt from the uniform, wearing the more male model. Perhaps this wasn't the smartest idea he'd had in a while... but, being injured allowed certain liberties. he dropped into sneak mode, being careful that his rubber sneakers didn't squeak as he quickly gained ground behind her.

Damon had spent the past near-year focusing on one thing - surviving without being noticed. Thus far, it had panned out relatively well for him. Excusing the occasional jab about his hair style, he'd easily taken on a role as "that one guy" in the background. He was hardly ever noticed, and few even remembered his name even when they shoved their works and various errands upon him. It was something he was immensely pleased about, as it meant he didn't have to go out into the field and test his control on his barely smothered remaining morals.

It had gotten easier to cope with the knowledge of what the organization he'd joined was doing with time. While he still didn't entirely approve of everything they did, ignoring the voice in the back of his head that liked to adamantly inform him that everything about this was wrong was getting easier with each day. Somewhere deep down, he knew that this was probably something he should be worried about...

But frankly, he couldn't muster up the energy to care.

The grunt reached up and absently adjusted his hat, completely unaware of the other man currently attempting to sneak up on him. He was too focused on the thick folder currently in his hands as he made his way towards the elevator. He was supposed to be taking a report to the labs from the main office - and he was under strict orders to get the file there in a timely manner. (Timely Manner was entirely subjective. From the secretary he'd received this particular folder from, it normally just meant that as long as the file was there before sundown he was in the clear.)

For the last few months, before the raid, Panther hadn't fully taken notice to the others around him. In general, he liked to try and introduce himself to his comrades, mostly the younger grunts and trainees, solely for the reason that he may be working with them in the future, case in point, Cal. She had moved up fast, and was now an agent, hover their relationship had not been effected, if anything the last raid had gotten them closer.

She was not on his mind at this moment, it the first time in a long while that he was able to get it off of her and the very close call. Instead he was fully intend on grabbing those piggy tails that oddly reminded him of another set he had once pulled. That had turned into a disaster. Perhaps he was slow to learn.

With a quick tug to one, he moved himself Past the grunt. "Hey girly." the words were already out his mouth before he realized his mistake.

For all the time he'd been in Team Rocket, there were three things that had yet to change about Damon. The first was his hairstyle, and it was likely that no amount of teasing or tormenting would change this. He liked having his hair long, and the pigtails he kept it in were convenient and worked just fine for him. And no matter how many times he was mistaken for a girl for this, he held his ground on it.

The second was his normally reaction to being surprised. Much like that first time so many months ago when Yugi had caught him behind, at the feel of a tug on one tail of his hair he leapt a good foot into the air and gave a distinct un-Rocket-like yelp of surprise. And before he was able to whirl around to face the culprit of such a horrible act, the other had already moved past him and into his line of sight.

The third, and likely the most important thing, was quite likely the one true annoyance trigger that he had and his reaction to it. Almost instantly, a rather pronounced frown found its way onto otherwise delicate features, wrinkling his brow and making him look uncharacteristically serious. It was an expression that certainly didn't belong on a face like his, and one that didn't appear there very often.

"I am not a girl."

For a fellow rocket, this one jumped pretty high he observed. But then HE turned on him. The feminine features, the sweet lippy frown all beautifully placed but for one thing, it was on a guy. A moment of shock overwhelmed him and his jaw fell into a characteristic O.

It took more then a few seconds to get his brain into working order again as he processed his mistake, and then came the laughter. He couldn't help it, the expression the look it was all so perfectly female and yet there were no words to describe it. The only response his brain could come up with against the sudden shock was pure laughter. "Well," he said between a few body shaking chuckles, "maybe you should wear a sign then."

He placed his one good hand on his jean covered knee to support himself, curling his other up against his stomach. The bandages contrasted sharply against his T-shirt with a small red R in the upper right. As usual, he still wore the cap and glasses, managing to at least still look like a grunt even though he was dressed down.

Damon's heart was still pounding in his chest as the other Grunt reacted to the new information presented to him. Being startled was not something he had ever enjoyed, and he sincerely doubted that would ever change. He'd always been pretty high-strung in his youth, and that had only gotten worse after he'd joined Team Rocket.

In fact, he was willing to bet that he had developed some kind of anxiety disorder over the past year, and by all means should be on some kind of medication for it. His stress level had skyrocketed since his high school days, and managing it had only got worse. He hadn't seen Yugi in ages, and the lingering fear that his friend had gotten himself killed was always niggling at the back of his mind. It was really no surprise that all of this was beginning to build up and weigh down on him.

What was a surprise was the sudden redness of the skin on his face, a flush that had nothing to do with embarrassment. He'd gotten this often enough that it no longer embarrassed him, but this was the first time he'd been met with a response like this.

"Maybe you should take off those sunglasses so you can see."

Well, so much for not having a temper. But it seemed like it had been exhausted fairly quickly, because almost instantly a somewhat mortified noise escaped Damon's throat. This time, the flush on his face had everything to do with embarrassment.

He'd never snapped at someone like that, no matter how mild the comeback had been.

Snapping off the glasses he gave the other grunt a through stare. He attempted to frown, but a playful smirk tugged at the side of his mouth. In his mind, there was denying his first estimate. This was by far the most feminine male he had ever seen. His green eyes glinted with mischief. "As I suspected. You looks even more feminine without them."

And the red reminded him much of at least one pretty girl, one he had seen rather recently and didn't want to think about, one who had also worn piggytails. "Do you plan to go into undercover work?" A touch of make up, and the smaller could easily come across as a young girl, perfect for undercover work. The police would have a hard time then their suspect could suddenly go from a she to a he on a whim. Too bad the kid seemed set against it.
