Saraneth was out and about gathering herbs. She had sent her apprentice home for the day, as she cut her paw on a piece of cutting rock and was therefore useless at gathering the herbs she needed. No doubt if Sara had brought her apprentice with her she'd end up lifeless from the herbs she sought. An herb to help one sleep. When ingested they quickly fall into deep sleep, and Saraneth used it to help the injured gain some rest when their pain refused to allow it. It had other properties, though, and were much more dangerous. When absorbed directly into the blood, the effects were amplified, resulting in the person never waking, or their inevitable death. Herbs were always two-faced, like people, but predictable, unlike people.

Saraneth walked, her nose close to thr ground, searching for the herb in question. It grew slow and low, sometimes being impossible to find, and was very strenuous on her as she was fully grown and not a cub. Cubs were the best harvester for this, they were still low to the ground and noticed things quickly.

"Where are you?" Saraneth muttered to herself in her concentration, "Do not punish me like this."

Morrigan had spent the morning in a daze. She'd been fervent in her prayers of thanks to the gods, and felt renewed, going about instructing the newer lions, those still training to become priests, with a particular vigor. They, likely, were far more worn out than she. And they didn't have the luxury of taking a break from their training.

Or rather, she would have taken a break had she not realized they were running terribly low on some plants. She'd requested them of Aesir...many grew in the more lush lands that he led his reavers to, and usually he returned with them aplenty. She didn't particularly feel like waiting now though, and had decided to spend her spare moments going over the small green patches the pride called their own and seeing what was to be had. She could well have sent one of the apprentices, but this sort of activity was relaxing for her.

She'd collected quite a few when she heard someone coming. "Who goes there?" She called out. If it was some mint-brained reaver come to trample their precious plants she'd have their claws for a necklace.

Saraneth was almost caught off guard by the voice that called out to her. If it hadn't been for the fact she recognized the voice almost immediatly she would have jumped like a spooked rabbit. Saraneth often forgot that she was not the only one who roamed the lands, preferring to be away from the inner sanctum of their homeland than in it. Picking her head up from towards the ground, Saraneth called back, "My apologies, High Priestess. It's only I, Priestess Saraneth. I did not mean to alarm you."

Saraneth watched the ground closely as she made her way towards where the voice had come from. Perhaps Morrigan had spotted the herb she was in desperate need of. It took her a few moments before Morrigan was within sight. Sara didn't want to trample anything, in case the High Priestess was in need of it, "How do you fair this day, High Priestess?"

Aha. So it was not a reaver out of his head. It was one of her dear flock. She smiled faintly at the female and motioned to her to continue with what she was doing. "The day finds me in better spirits than usual. Perhaps the gods touched me in the night, and gave my rest a blessedness. I do not know, nor do I dare ask."

She herself went back to the task of looking about for plants. Of course anything she found would be taken directly to the cwelling place of the priests. She had no need for herself in particular. Her plan had been to restore their lost stocks. "What are you looking for, Saraneth? I have come for little more than a relaxing moment of farming. If there is something special you are after, I perhaps could lend a paw."

True she was the high priestess, but let no one say she did not care for those she served with. To benefit one would benefit them all. And she was quite good at spotting plants herself

"The Gods reward their most loyal, High Priestess, and you are by far the loyalest I know," Saraneth said, a small smile on her face as she dipped her head to Morrigan out of respect. It was nice to see Morrigan out amoungst the rest, taking it upon herself to help with duties that others would simply pawn off on their lessers. Even menial work was therapuetic in a way, and could be something more than just time consuming.

"Indeed, there is something special I do seek, High Priestess. An herb that helps enduce sleep," She explained, a small sigh escaping her lips at her inability to find this herb on her own. Perhaps the Gods had orchestrated her and Morrigan's eventual meeting as a way of lending a hand to Saraneth. She could only hope.

"It grows low and slow to the ground, and resembles Mint, though without the smell. I use it to give the injured rest when their bodies refuse it, and I am afraid I am both out of it and having trouble spotting it," She said worriedly, "I would be shamed if I were to be out of it when someone was in need."

"Oh? I know that herb. It is a bad time of season for it though. You will have trouble finding it, I fear. Still, I will help you as I can. It is a valuable plant, and one I would prefer the priests to NOT go without." She bent lower, nearly crawling around through the brush. With her plant-patterend pelt, she blended in terribly well.

"I do not know that it grows just here but...ah! I do think I have found some..." She raised her head to better show where she was. At her feet was growing a sprawling plant, large, but with fewer leaves than she'd have liked to see. Indeed, it was the wrong season for this plant. But some was better than none.

"A shame there is not more of it. I will look a little deeper into this patch of brush..."

Saraneth, mith her green colored coat, always managed to blend in rather well with the plant-life during the growing seasons. Her stealth able to catch even the more experienced reapers off guard if she dare wished, but she could hold no candle to Morrigan's pelt, and how whether during the growing or the dying seasons, she could blend in practically anywhere. Saraneth often wondered if she should paint her pelt like Morrigan's in order to go unnoticed by most of the pride's members, but doing so would be an experiment she couldn't afford at the moment, so she only let her mind wonder about what the end results would be.

When Morrigan perked up, proclaiming that she had found a little of the sleep herb in which she had been feverishly searching for most of the day, she almost jumped. She had lost track of Morrigan when she blendid into the folliage below and was caught off guard by the craft High Priestess. It was a funny sight to see the quiet Priestess's hair on end, even if for a moment.

"Wondrous!" Saraneth nervously chirped, following Morrigan down to floor level to stake out what she had located. It was indeed the plant she had been searching for. Relief was all Saraneth could feel at the moment upon the herb's discovery. There would be some for the meantime after all. Next growing season she would have to harvest more and store it according so she would not go without, or maybe grow it... Yes. Growing her own little section may prove better.

"Thank you, High Priestess. I feared I would not find any at all, and the Gods know I've been searching the foliage floors for hours,"She sighed, "Your keen eye is truly a blessing upon you."

"I do think that I was merely in the right place at the right time. Had you not come along I would not have known it was missing, and overlooked it entirely." She moved on from the plant, letting the other priestess collect it.

"Is there anything else you are seeking? I have a little more time yet, and would rather spend it assisting the pride than aimlessly strolling about in a field." Though restful times were of value, it would be better in the eyes of the gods for her to ever be the image of a priestess. Always helping, always offering. Though thinking that that would be what they wanted didn't even cross Weyard's mind. She simply did, and was.

"We all have our unique talents. There are many who are keener-sighted than I, or stronger, or wiser."

"No, no. The sleep herb was the only thing I was searching for, High Priestess. Thank you greatly for helping me find it," Saraneth said, dipping her head respectfully. "Is there anything you need help with? An extra pair of paws to help farm? I'd be more than happy to help you..."

Saraneth only wished that Morrigan would allow her to repay her kindness. It wasn't very often that Saraneth felt so very talkative and personable, so she figured she would definitely indulge her mood a bit. With Morrigan here, she figured it'd be much easier on her to relax and chat, being as Morrigan was a priestess like herself. They held many interestes and she may hold some knowledge of herbs she had never thought to use before. It was her chance to learn something.

"I don't wish to burden you," Saraneth said humbly, as she finished collecting the sleep herb, "But if you do need help, I am happy and willing to offer it to you."

"Nonsense, my sister. We all of us are working to the benefit of the pride, and to the will of the gods. To seek aid with something is not something to be ashamed of." This was another part of their duty, was it not? "I am seeking nothing in particular. I noticed the stores were low, and thought to refill them I do think though that I have enough here."

"Perhaps you will come back to the priests' dens with me? I have felt the desire to make several charms, and I could use extra paws for the work. The seasons are changing, and with them, the desires of the spirits. We will do well to prepare new items to better suit their whims." It was true, the growing season was nearly gone, and the winter of sorts was just around the bend. Charms for things like rain or fertility would mean little to the gods in this time, she felt. Warm weather and large hunts would be more to order.

She abandoned her patch of bush and scooped up a small pile of plants and leaves that had been sitting on a rock. She would drop them off with the other stashes of plants before getting to work. Some of the leaves would even be of use in the charms she'd make. "If you are done here, let us go. Along the way, I would like it very much if you would tell me more about your assistant. I am thinking of tapping several soon to begin more rigorous training, and your opinion would be of great value to me..." She swished her tail as she slipped through the trees back the way she'd come. They could talk along the way, and she looked forward to it.
