Ember's hooves pounded the frozen ground as she neared the lands of her home. She had been gone for a very long time, but everything still seemed the same. Dusk had fallen and night was fast approaching. Flames crackled softly in the night air as her mane and tail flowed in the breeze.
Soon darkness found its way into the land and the moon began its ascent into the starlit sky. Ember stopped in a large familiar meadow. Soon she would be home, and soon she would see old familiar faces. Perhaps even new ones. She smiled at the thought. She had missed having friends.
The mare dropped her head to drink from the stream that ran through the meadow. The water was cold and she took deep gulps.

The night, a time of Mother Moon, who's blanket of stars coated the skies over the Sister Earth. soft downy wings stretched at her sides as a mare painted like that of the blanketed sky took to an easy glide as Brother Wind had ceased his games under his mother's rule. Below Sister Earth was coated with a white blanket of her own, symbolizing her time of rest before her blessings were would spring forth. Long and thickly braided hair shifted softly against her side. The star lit mare made an easy landing, not quite sure just where she had come to be.
Light lilac colored eyes peered around the world of those of Sister Earth. This world was always so peaceful, away from Brother Wind's games above. Wings folding to her sides, Luminista started walking, listening to her own hoof steps against the silence of the approaching night, though Mother Moon was making her advance upon Father Sun's realm. Coming upon a meadow, one of the many she had flown over this one seemed different. This one had another life within it, shaking her head, knocking her bangs out of her face, thus revealing the 'kiss' Mother Moon had blessed her with. Stepping from the shadows, letting the pallid light from above to catch her reflective white and lavender wings. "Greetings Earth Sister." She called in greeting, quite openly and out of the blue.

Ember lifted her head from the stream as she heard greetings from another.. Water droplets fell from her muzzle, seemingly freezing a bit before hitting the snow pelted ground. Shaking the water off her muzzle, she strode forward with a smile. It was good to see another.
"Hello, I am Ember Cree", she spoke as she drew near the other mare. She was a sight for any to behold, for she was colored like the night sky, with lovely white and lavendar colored wings. Ember wished secretly she had wings, but then, she was different enough with the flames in her own mane and tail.
Most times others would cry in fear at the sight of her, because of her nightmare heritage, but Ember would never harm another. Not unless in defense. She had adopted a peaceful lifestyle, much like her father before he had met her mother. She did not share the same lust or cravings for the flesh and blood of others, but she did have her father's love for berries.

Luminista gave a smile to the mare as she turned and came closer. She had noticed the flames that flickered across the mare's mane and tail. what had she said her name was? Ember Cree? Yes that was it, Ember Cree. A lovely name for one bless so. "I'm Luminista, well I had another name, but it is too hard to pronounce in common tongue." Luminista tilted her head slightly still smiling. "I have noticed that you have been blessed by Father Sun. His presence radiates around you even in Mother Moon's realm."
Letting herself drift around Ember, she took a closer look at the flames before moving back to where she had been standing. Two from different realms, two different parents blessings. Well, if wanted to call them that, she had since her own family were now on their own Spirit travels. It has been many a moon rise since then and of her seclusion. "The world of the Sister has changed so, but her Brother still plays his games like in the days of old. Tell me how long she sleeps now, last I remember it was until Mother Moon released the cold icy spell. Is this still true?" Ears perking up a little, her head still tilting to one side. Luminista acted much of an inquisitive foal, always wanting answers to many questions that most might not know.

Ember tilted her head curiously. This mare spoke in a strange manner. But she didn't mind. She seemed very in tune with nature, which was something Ember was intruiged by. She was always out at night, watching the night sky. It was quiet and peaceful and she could think in the silence of the night.
"There's other languages? Where do you come from?" Such a fitting name for the mare. It suited the patterning of her markings. Ember looked at her tail and back to Luministra, smiling a little sheepishly. She had her father's sheepish grin. "Yes....my mother is a nightmare, so I am half nightmare. Tis where the fire comes from." She stopped a moment before continuing, " Its nice someone is actually taliong to me for once instead of running in fear"
Ember watched as the mare moved elegantly around her. And the next words that followed confused her a little. "Who's sister? brother?" she tilted her head, a little confused. She was sure the mare must be referring to the lands, but she was not sure which was represented by what name to the mare. "I'm sorry, I'm not sure what you're talking about. Perhaps if you could phrase it a little simpler for me?"

Luminista blinked a moment as Ember mentioned that others ran away from her. Why would those of the earth run from one blessed by the sun? Shaking her head she couldn't understand such a thing, she was one of the Moon's blessed and no one ran from her. Though this 'nightmare' thing was a curious thought, but it wasn't obvious to her like most others. "I am sorry that the children of Sister Earth have been cruel to you. They should be punished for their wrong and hope that they learn to be kinder to their brethren." Luminista nodded, the motion shifting the thick braid that rustled the snow at her hooves. "But where I had come from, everyone was kind, but there were the rare 'ill tempered' ones.' She shook her head again to not think about it.
"I come from a place far away, one past the mountains and the burning sands. There the tongue is old and hard to speak unless you were schooled as a youngling. I.. I have forgotten much of my home tongue since my seclusion. I have forgotten much of my past as well, the only company I had was the Spirits." she blushed, even though it wasn't seen upon her dark colored coat. Sometimes it would wink through her star markings before they faded back to white. "I am sorry, I guess not everyone has had my upbringing. Now what was it that everyone called this time... Ah.. Winter? Yes, that's it, the time of Sister Earth's sleep, winter. Its hard sometimes not to think everyone is like home.
There, we have names for certain things. Like Mother Moon and Father Sun. They watch over everything in the realms of Day and Night. There is also Sister Earth, the land we live upon and Brother Wind. The one who carried me here upon his own wings, with a game or two along the way. Cheeky thing that one, always had been. For most other things, we just called them Spirits, with no real names. Seemed that there was no need to name them..." Luminista lapsed into thought, so much could have been said, but she didn't rightly know how to explain everything. Already it was late, Mother Moon was making her way across her realm. Her children playing around her, winking in and out of sight. Such fun games to watch if one were to remain awake at such a time.

Ember listened and then shook her head once the mare had finished speaking. "No, its not their fault really. Nightmares are terrible evil creatures filled with hatred that kill for the sheer joy of it, and they feed upon the flesh and blood of those they kill." Ember shuddered. She did not share her mother's love for flesh and blood. The idea made her feel sick.
"I cannot judge them, even if their fears are misplaced in me. " Her eyes dropped. She was sure the mare would turn from her now, knowing this. "Your home sounds like a far better place than these lands, and the lands that I have traveled. " her voice was but a whisper. "Why did you leave it if i may ask?" she was curious. maybe this mare was an outcast, jsut like her.
Ember listened as the mare spoke of names for the moon sun and stars, everything it seemed. She found it interesting nonetheless. She was always curious about the sies. She loved to be out in the late night hours until the wee morning hours when dawn arrived.

Luminista tilted her head to one side as Ember spoke of these Nightmare creatures and seemed to be expecting a certain response from her. Blinking some, Luminista didn't quite know how to react, but it certainly wasn't running. "Feeds on flesh and blood? They sound like the children of a Spirit who's name has no translation and is too complicated to speak of. They are said to be created from someone's dreams, at least from my homelands lore. This Spirit saw the dreams of another, it was one of pain and anger. So one night she drew forth this creature and gave it the flesh of the dead and the craving for more. There is much to the tale, but I think there are some that have wandered from the Spirits threads." Luminista spoke, moving closer to Ember instead of away from her. "Some sought shelter with Father Sun and Mother Moon, under their protecting eye, they keep those whom want nothing of their parent's inheritance. You, Ember, have the marks of Father Sun, his flame grace your hair, I believe that he protects you from the lesser of his Daughters."
She certainly seemed to have something for everything. So much crammed into that small skull it was a wonder it didn't all burst from the strain. Wings shifting at her sides, Luminista let things shift off to her homeland. This cause her ears to droop a little and her own head sag. Firm wing slipped unfolding to let the tips touch the ground. "Home, isn't home anymore. Something happened and it fell from the graces of our protectors. I wasn't home at the time when those whom I dare not speak of invaded. Well, not invaded, accepted. Someone allowed these creatures into the herd and it was destroyed. I... I fled, fearing that I too would end up like those of my kin. Most were made into examples, their bodies thrust into the trees, others were given worse fates." ears pinning themselves back even farther, her whole frame quivered. With her eyes pinned tightly closed, Luminista seemed to want to forget what she had seen upon her return to home. The screams, the scents, the horror that had awaited her. She just wanted to, forget.
