So, my self esteem has been in the shitter.
Normally I dont' complain about being fat cause I'm like, "Hey, you could be fatter." But, I just... I hate it so much right now.

I felt SO SO SO goo dthe summer of 09. I was like, 140lbs, which is apparently still technically overweight for my hight but ******** it, I FELT good.

Now I am like, 170lbs and I feel awful. I am so self concious and blah.

I am gonna start working out, and David says mostly cardio will help. I've already changed my diet up, which has stopped the weight gain and actually lost me 5lbs so that's good.

Any suggestions?

I'm right there with you. I'm like 100 lbs above you, though. razz

I got a gym membership with my boyfriend and one of my friends.
We do weight training. Technically, I'm gaining weight but I look and feel thinner.

plus, it just feels amazing. cardio is good also...

I do 15 mins of cardio before and after my weight training on MWF
and do 45 minutes of cardio with no weight training on STTHS

I definitely understand. I've weighed pretty much the same for a year or so, but recently I just feel like it's not as well- distributed or something. I'm hoping to lose weight this next semester, since I'll be in a "personal fitness" class 3 times a week.

The best way to go about losing weight is just to get regular exercise (I've always heard 45-60 minutes at least three times a week), combined with a stable diet. Make sure you limit the amounts of fats and sugars you eat (though sodas are okay in small doses), and try to go easy on starches after breakfast (for dinner, lunch, and snacks, you should mostly be having fruits, veggies, and protein).
That's about all I have, but good luck!

I am mostly focusing on moderation and portion sizes for my dieting. Gonna eat what I like, just in healthy limits. (I have been over eating for a long time now, like I'd eat till I was full and then eat more... Bad me.)

Less sweets and junky foods, but not entirely cutting them out. There is no point in dieting and trying to feel good about myself if I'm making myself miserable other ways.

Also, zumba! That is my weekly excercise. (Can't go walking and s**t since it's winter. Boo ridiculous weather.)

Set up an account at Spark People best damn weight loss site EVAR

It's free.

It's awesome. And I lost about 40 lbs using it (gained it back when I stopped LOL)

There are no fad things to buy, they offer a menu if you want to use it, if not just get rid of that part in your tracker.
It has a spot to log how much water you are taking in (any beverage counts just adjust the calories in your calorie tracker).
It does the math for you and lets you input whatever it is you are eating. You give it your goals and body type and it recommends what your daily goals should be for calories, carbs, fats and proteins (you can track other things too but this is the standard).

Not only that, it has a spot to track your exercise and gives you a report at the end of the day to show you how you are doing. Did you go too far below your calorie deficit, not low enough or were you right on balance?

There are message boards you can use for support, and groups you can get involved in. If you have a Wii, there is is a lot of Wii support groups that use various games to challenge each other and work on your goals.

If your food isn't listed in the list you can put it in manually just using the information on the nutrition label. It's an awesome free site, that focuses on weight loss the healthy way. There's quite a few blogs that people keep there that will help you get through the plateaus as well. So it's like a cyber weight watchers minus the shitty meetings you have to attend.

Good luck. I'm going to get back on it soon. Probably next week after the hubz gets back from his conference (me and three kids alone not prime time for dietary changes ha!).

Oh yeah once I cut back on drinking soda alot of the time it -felt- like I lost a pound or two. Whenever I go to restaurants I just get water with lemon, refreshing and delicious <3

No problemmo. I found I actually benefited from keeping those protein bars in the house. I had a problem getting my protein levels high enough during the day and at night the chocolate cravings were BAAAAD, so I'd keep them around for a quick chocolate punch and protien boost. I also could work my calories around a dairy queen splurge if I felt one coming. Normally woman time was a bad time for me to stay focused so I'd be able to watch myself really closely if I could promise myself a treat at the end of the night. 1/2 cup of forbidden chocolate ice cream by Friendlies is only 150 calories, has a little more fat than wanted, but also a little protein. If I watched my fat intake for the day that little treat at the end of the night was oh so awesome. And yes I indulged a few times a week and still lost weight because I was making healthy choices the rest of the week. Exercise is key and I need to get back into my C25K program. It's just cold and I want a tread mill for the winter. Hehe.
