 It was starting to rain.
The dreary grey clouds that had been a constant throughout the day, had finally decided to release moisture onto the mountainous forest below. It had been misting on and off all day, but this was the first time the condensation had actually formed into large fat drops. Accompanied by a harsh fog that blocked vision further than a couple feet in front of you, it was turning out to be one of the worst days Xanti had seen in a long time. But he was near the mountains so he should have expected it.
"Stupid, stupid rain."
Xanti growled under his breath and cringed as a plump drop of rain landed on his hoof. He hated water. Hated it. Despised it. It burned his hooves and set his nerves on edge. Oh, how he hated it.
...And the fog wasn’t helping much either. Although Xan had adequate night vision, fog was a different story. He could do nothing about it. He couldn’t see through it, so all he could do was bear with it. Which was pretty difficult in mountainous terrain with many needle bearing trees to dodge.
Xanti sighed, and continued forward, avoiding as many large boulders and pine trees as he could. It was a steady incline, but due to the lack of vision he had no choice but to move forward. And he did… until he reached a haven disguised in the form of a cave. It was large. Large enough to contain him and several others by the looks of it, and it seemed to go back a far ways. Not that Xan took much notice. He was just pleased to be out of the wet, and eagerly shook himself off to dislodge all the droplets that were on his leathery hide.

 A wicked day was slowly coming to an end. Not that you'd be able to tell, though, judging by the light of day. Large angry looking clouds still covered the sky, blocked out the sun, and blanketed the land in darkness. The fog was a whole other story. Even in the dark Kore could see a good distance ahead due to his night light like hooves, however the fog prevented him from seeing to far off into the distance. It's not that Kore loved these sort of conditions. No, it was a sort of defense to him. Something that Mistress, an alternate ego in his mind, told him to live by. She tries to keep him secluded for her own greedy purpose because if he ever found out she wasn't real that could risk her existence inside of his mind.
He dragged his hooves around the dirt and twigs, wishing to rest. "But Mistress... I'm tired.... couldn't we go somewhere sheltered, please?" He was on the verge of begging. This had to be the tenth time he had asked, but his psychotic mind wouldn't agree. "Kore, sweetie... how many times do I have to tell you, my love? You're better out here than going somewhere warm and comfortable. You remember what I told you about comfortable places right?" She tried to keep her tone cool and calm but tid bits of irritation could be heard. Kore took a deep breathe, feeling frustrated with his Mistress and her reasoning. "We're in the middle of the woods! Nobody is out here.... please, Mistress, pleeease?" He begged her again and again until she snapped, "FINE! You go and find a little hide out. Although, if anybody is in there I don't want you to stay. I don't want them making fun of my precious baby. You know how cruel Strangers could be."
With that being said he felt happy, though a bit nervous about the idea of the area being occupied already. He brushed it off and started heading to the mountains thick rocky walls. There had to be some form of cave or even a covering of some sort around here. The blue accented stallion walked along the ridge before finding a good opening in the wall he had been following. He stepped inside, noticing that a good amount of the fog rolled into this hide away but it wasn't as thick and daunting. He began to walk to the far back, where it'd be warmest he though, but quickly took notice of a dim glow. His eyes narrowed on it as he approached. Because of the fog he had to get a good distance towards the light before he realized they were the same sort of shape and brightness as his own hooves. He glanced up and noticed the shadow of a stallion resting atop them and he stumbled back in a bit of alarm. "Who's there?!" he snarled and tried to put on his tough exterior.

Xanti had moved to the farthest corner of the cave, as far away from the wet outdoors as possible. He wanted nothing to do with the dampness. Nothing at all. And so he was in the process of making himself a nest for the night. He idly started moving the rock chips and stones away from his chosen area, when his hound-like ears picked up a sound. Rocks moving against eachother and a thump, thump, thump. It almost sounded like hooves. Xanti paused in his nesting. A snarly voice...from the darkness behind him. Towards the cave entrance.
Xanti whipped around, a howl of challenge bursting from his jaws. Teeth flashing he faced his attacker.
And stopped abruptly.
He was frozen in shock. Well not exactly. Xanti's sides were heaving, his nostrils flaring, and ears twitching, but all desire to fight off the invader had disappeared. His pupil-less eyes quickly scanned the invader from head to hoof. Glowing eyes, glowing feet, hound-like ears, and spikes. This creature was a duplicate of him... with a few slight modifications. But so similiar...and it stunned Xanti out of his hostility.
"I am. Who are you?" His voice was low, gruff and held a hint of a growl, but it didn't contain it's usual aggressive tone.
