So, there are many more sects of Christianity than I expected...So I just wanna make a list with you guys ^-^ and a possible diagram. Here's what I came up with:

I'm probably missing a lot more of them...please tell me so I can post it later.

Now, according to what I know, Christianity is it's own Major Category separate from Judaism and Islam.
Out of Christianity comes many more sects. The Minor Categories after Christianity is mainly between Protestant and Catholicism.
After the Minor Categories are the Sub Categories. Under Protestant comes Baptist, Lutherean, and Methodists.
Under Catholicism is the Orthodox church and the Non-Orthodox church.

I suspect that there are many more sects than the ones that I've listed and the ones that I don't know where to put. Anyhow, here's my definition of the Minor Categories and Sub Categories.

Minor Categories

-Protestant: major difference from the Catholics is that Protestants call their leader "Pastor" instead of "Priest". Also, instead of the levels of priesthood (priest, bishop, archbishop, pope, etc) there is no real levels of distinction, no real "pastorhood". They do not believe that the Pope is sent by God and favored by him or speaks to God directly.

-Catholic: Opposite of what was mentioned of the Protestants.

Sub Categories

-Protestant sects: I don't know much about any of them...

-Catholic sects: don't know much about them either...

Post what you know about the sects and what sects I'm still missing please

There are also two different sects to mormons. The mormons that believed Joseph Smiths revelation that polygamy was wrong and no longer practice it. Some mormons still practice polygamy.

I thought that Lutherans were from Catholicism. That's what I was told on Reformation.

If you look on the chart that I posted, they seperated during the schism that formed all Protestant groups. The smaller devisions within protestantism are shown in the smaller tree diagram below that.

It is damn complex, neh?

Wait till you try to fit the extra divisions in. That involves taking into account all of those bible translations in the bottom chart, the various groups of Muslims who broke off in the top one, the dozens of divisions within each branch of Christianity (such as various versions of Baptists, Methodists, etc), Mormons, JW's, Messianic Jews, other Jews, Hindu and Buddhist crossover groups, non-denominational churches (which are often very much divided from each other) and dozens of other such things.

Trust me, this is simple. Wait till you get a South West Baptist and an Eastern South West Baptist arguing about a particular word in the KJV bible which changes half their churches doctrines and means that they can't recognise the other group as true Christians because they now allow for a certain third group of Northen Baptists as true Christians.

Actually, all Christianity indirectly comes from Catholicism. Christian used to be synonymous with Catholic until the Reformation when, yes, after years of brutal warfare in Germany, Lutherans were recognized as Christains. Then of course, came the Calvinists (we call them Presbyterian I believe) and not long after Henry VIII decided he would break off from Catholicism and make his own church, the Anglican or "Church of England" just so he could divorce his wife. Henry was a sad little man.

The Great Reformers, were just that. They didn't want to seperate frm the Roman Catholic Church. They wanted it to be more God centered, for at that time the clergy who were suppose to stay single and pure were having children. Some of the priests that came from good families were holding down two or three church offices.

The Reformers wanted to not only change that but they also wanted to change some of the religious things. Like Sacrements the Roman Catholics have seven when the Bible only speaks of two. Personally I like parts of the Roman Catholic Church, and so did the Reformers...
