Chipo stretched and yawned, shaking her head and standing up from where she'd been lounging. She'd only meant to sunbathe for a little while but had ended up falling dead asleep and snoozing on through the day into the dusk. The sun was setting and here she was wide awake. With a flip of her tail she shrugged and trotted starwise, heading towards where she knew there was a small pool of water that had collected from a recent rain... past experiences had taught her to always rest near to a water source when she slept.
It wasn't long before the smell of damp, cool water lead her to the place she was seeking. There were three large boulders circling the area, which was what shielded the water from the sun and kept it from drying up in the heat of the day. It was deep enough to go up to her shoulders as stepped in a ways - the bottom made of rock to keep the precious liquid from being sucked in by the dry, dry earth.
Giving a quick glance around to ensure no one was sneaking up on her at the moment she leaned down and took her drink. It was luke-warm but at least it was relatively clear and refreshing.

Zeus hummed to himself... off key a tad, but enthusiastic. He rather liked a good tune... particularly when paired with a full meal and a lovely lady. Or just with a lovely lady.... or a lovely lady all by herself. The male chuckled to himself as he slouched his way to a nearby watering hole, one he frequented when he happened to wander in this area.
Never a stay-at-home man, even if he'd had one, the rogue life seemed to agree with him. Robust, strong and (he liked to think) rather dashing, he felt it his privilege to spread his presence throughout the savanna. No one seemed to really mind... those other males were just jealous of his success and their failure, after all.
As Zeus rounded the corner, he caught a flash of red and paused to survey the lovely scene before him. Twilight, an oasis of clear water... and a lady as rich as sunset or fresh blood. How delightful.
"I'm sorry, my dear, but am I interupting? Might a thirsty traveler share a drink with your lovely self?"

Chipo looked up, ears swiveling back towards the stranger's voice, her head turning to follow. The timbre of the male's voice was the first thing to pique her. She rested clear blue eyes on the 'thirsty traveler' before her and found herself looking at a lion that reflected the sunset in his own way - his pelt in part the rich color of the sky just before the sun slipped beneath the lip, the other the inky dark of the night speckled with white as though a sky full of stars.
She stepped to the side, lowering her head demurely. "Of course, I don't own anything here." A coy smile turned the edges of her mouth upward as she turned back to the water and leaned down once more, pausing before taking another lap. "And who am I to deny anyone of my company if they so actively are seeking it out?"
Her tail flicked, unable to keep the smile at bay as she drank. She hasn't been called lovely in... ever. The lioness couldn't help but feel even just a little charmed, no matter how minute or short the moment of attention had been.

A rich laugh broke from the male as he padded up to the water, his tail swinging jauntily.
"One owns something by virtue of occupation. As you are here, you own this space until you leave it." Zeus said as he bent down to drink, crouching his large form on the form. He flexed a little, just so she could fully appreciate just how large a male he was. The coy tone to her voice was not lost on him and he was not one to let an opportunity like that slip away. Raising his head from the water as it dripped down his chin, he settled back to sit by the water, his tail still idly twitching back and forth.
"You have a very welcoming personality, if you are so open to the company of a stranger. Its nearly a virtue these days when so many prides guard their territories so jealously and rogues band together for protection... which makes me wonder." Zeus looked thoughtful as he said it. "Are you alone, lovely one? Do you not have companions to keep you company?"

Chipo sat as well, tail curling around her feet as she lifted a front paw to lick and rub against her cheek. She was trying to seem relaxed, indifferent towards his flattery and presence but it was... difficult, to say the least. Something in her thrilled at his attention and closeness.
"I guess you're right. I haven't had the misfortune to run into anything worse than an ornery cub thinking to be the lone guardian of his pride's borderlands." She set her paw down, looking over at the rogue and giving a little shrug of her shoulders. "But yes, I've traveled alone since I was old enough to leave my family."
Chipo gave a little tilt of her head, glancing sidelong at the stranger. "Why?"

Zeus grinned at the female, giving a roll of his heavy shoulders.
"I confess I can hardly understand that such a lovely lady would be alone... but I am thankful that you've not met anything worse. It would be a shame to see you hurt, or worse." He glanced off towards the savanna before looking back to her, his grin turned roguish. "Though if I'm being truthful, it would be more out of curiosity if you had a male companion who might take affront that I'm speaking to you alone like this. I know some males can be rather jealous creatures. Me... I prefer a life a little less strict."
Standing up, he fell into a stretch, his legs out before him as he pressed his chest to the ground and lifted his hips, curving the long slope of his spine. He feel the pull of muscle and enjoyed the feeling, knowing certain members of the opposite gender enjoyed it too. "My name is Zeus, by the way. I would hate to remain in your memory as 'that rogue male'."

"Mnh." The small, absent-minded sound of confirmation was given as she watched the large lion stretch and flex. She blinked herself out of the small trance as he gave her his name. "I would have remembered to ask it sooner or later." She gave a short laugh as she stood and languidly paced around the small pool of water, shoulders rolling lightly, hips swaying. "I'm glad to hear you less... strict. I don't think I could stand for any male who felt they could have the right to take any sort of affront to see me talking with someone else. I spend my time however I prefer."
Her tail gave a suggestive flick as she came full circle about the little pool, sitting beside the large male. Close enough to let his scent fill her nose and head and make her want to purr. "Chipo... my name is Chipo. Least I be remembered as 'that one lioness.'"
She was drawn to him. There wasn't any way he couldn't tell it by now. Though she liked to believe that he was interested in her as well. Why else would he make note of her lack of male companion.

The orange male smirked as he watched her, rather liking where this was going. She seemed interested in him, and really, that was the only opening he needed. Far be it from him to leave a lady neglected, or worse!, dissatisfied.
"Lovely Chipo." He purred. "Your name is as attractive as its owner. If you prefer it so, perhaps you'd spend some time in my company? After all... I don't have any companions either and life tends to get rather dull when you spend too much time alone. Time spent with you would bring color and life to a world that's a bit faded around the edges." Zeus grinned as he said it, reclining back on his haunches. Perhaps now would be a good time to take a break from wandering... at least for the night, or if he was lucky, a day as well.
"As long as you have no where pressing to be, that is."

Chipo laughed, half flattered by his words, half suspicious they were just sweet nothings to get her to spend her night with him. Really... he didn't have to use them. Her current state of mind didn't care if this was to be just another notch under his 'I scored' belt or not. He was handsome, he was strong, and he knew when to charm.
The lioness walked around behind Zeus, lightly rubbing her cheek against his shoulder as she passed, pressing her side against his back as she walked around him. Her voice was husky as she spoke. "I've never had anywhere pressing to be in my life."

Zeus laughed, a rolling sound from deep in his chest. He tossed his mane playfully, rather pleased with this turn of events. Sure, he hadn't been looking for a willing female today, but he would never turn down the opportunity. After all... there was so many delightful things about each and every female that walked the earth. It only took a persistent male to find them out.
"I believe that is a good thing then, because I don't think either of us shall be going anywhere any time soon." He chuckled as he settled back, his tail starting to flick with his rise in energy.
Ah, lovely ladies... they went to his head like fine wine.
