The training will take place in a well used training ground just outside of the first squad. It looks reminiscent of an ancient roman collosium with a number of hardwood dummies. The ground has been packed over the many years of usage, baked to a brick-like feel from the many fires that have been started.

"Well..." He sighed as he entered the arena-esque training ground "To think I'd be learning Kido... I always hated learning these techniques... But I need to be well balanced for the coming dialogue." Zeb sighed as again as he looked around him "Lerato-san...? I was told to come here shortly after I requested further training. Are you around?"

Zeb looked again at the surroundings, his eyes growing wide in amazement So this is the difference in 7th, 12th, and 1st Squads... They all have training grounds that reflect their own captain's personal tastes. The columns rose majestically from the ground, and the floor had a slight bowl shape. "This will be a majestic place to train... I hope that Lerato will be willing to spar afterwards."

"A spar?" Lerato seemingly appeared out of no where while Zeb had been immersed in looking at the grounds. "I don't know, we'll have to see when all this is done, shall we?" He chuckled, pushing off of column he had chosen to lean against. "So you're the new vice captain from squad twelve, eh? I wouldn't have pegged you for the science type to be honest. Enough of that though, let's get to the reason you showed up here." Walking behind the column again he brought forth a small duffle bag. "We'll start with the easiest of the lot." Walking over to the man he set the bag down and opened it. The only things inside were two lengths of old fashioned chain. "Alright. So as I'm sure you remember from the academy, kidou is all about manipulating ones' reiatsu into a tangible, useable form to either attack your opponent, bind them, or block an attack. The first kidou you will learn is for the first of those reasons." After handing one chain to the giant he took the other for himself and walked a few feet away.

"For this kidou I want you to concentrate on the catalyst in your hands because without it, this hadou would be impossible, understand? Any chain like catalyst will do, but if you wanna do it right, I suggest something conductive. It'll make it easier in the long run." Lerato's reiatsu flickered as he concentrated on the feeling of the cool links in his hand, letting his spiritual pressure bubble up inside of him before slowly creeping into the chain itself. "Next, I want you to force your reiatsu into the chain. I usually imagine an incomplete circuit. After that you recite the spell's name to activate it and, Hadou #11, Bound Lightning." Unleashing the spell he sent the chain towards one of the awaiting dummies. Moments later, his reiatsu dropped back down to normal, the chain dropping away to show a scorched marking. "Alright, now give it a try."

Zeb stared at the dummy as he felt the sensation that Lerato had given off as he used the kido. Ozone... Scorched ozone... Taking a deep breath he began to focus on the chain in his hand as he felt the reiatsu deep inside. Tapping into that wellspring of pure and raw energy, he let it bubble up inside of him and focused it into his hands. Imagining the chain in front of him as a line, connecting him to that dummy, he began to imagine that it was the first Arrancar he had met. "Mussla..." He muttered to himself as he stared more intently at the Mussla-dummy "Thor will rain his hammer to deal judgement upon your foolish head... Hadou #11, Bound Lightening..." Zeb felt the energy build and the temperature rise around his body. Finally he let it go, envisioning lightning as he did so. Finally, he let it go, and all that was heard was a resounding 'BANG!' as it exploded in his face, as well as sending the bold straight down the chain, instantly exploding the dummy it was attached to, and sending a smaller bolt of lightening to the dummy next to it, leaving a large scorch on it.

Zeb was thrown backwards, the energy from the blast searing his face, and a few links of the chain cutting his face and exposed body. "******** HELL THAT HUR--- Did I actually get them?" He asked as he stared at where the dummy once stood, and the other horribly scorched one. "What the hell happened? I couldn't see cause of the bang of light..."

Lerato laughed as he watched the first dummy explode from the sheer force of the demon spell, the second getting a rather large scorch mark on the side. "Indeed you did." He laughed, walking over to the other vice captain. Offering the man a hand he continued on, "I suggest that you reel it back some though. After all, you want to have the kidou under your control, not the other way around." After the man was on his feet Lerato began his little lecture on the demon spells again. "Alright. Now that we have that one out of the way lets move on to a few that don't require a catalyst to perform. The first one I will teach you is Red Fire Cannon. All in all, it's a well rounded spell with a lot of versatility and a fair amount of power for how small it is." Walking away from Zeb, Lerato took up a position in front of another dummy, glancing over his shoulder. "Please, for the love God, be careful."

Without further adieu he turned to the dummy, raised one hand and let his reiatsu spike slightly once more. "Alright, this is rather simple charge and release spell. I want you to gather reiatsu into your hand. The spell should be focused into a ball about the size of a softball, maybe slightly bigger. Recite the incantation, and release. Observe." Holding his hand out in front of him he let the well of energy inside him open once again, forcing some of the energy into a tightly formed ball of red fire. "Ye lord. Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man. Inferno and pandemonium, the sea barrier surges, march on to the south. Hadou #31, Shot of Red Fire." Rushing forth it became blatantly apparent why the he was so worried about the man attempting such a kidou. Even with the control that Lerato had over the spell it still easily blackened the entirety of the wood dummy, leaving it smoking in the distance. "Now, let me get out of the way and you can try." He laughed, joking to the side of the arena.

Tapping into his natural wellspring again, Zeb began to focus on the object. Small, circular... Whats a softball? Zeb's mind began to race as he began to think of what a softball could be. I know it is spherical in shape... But why must it be soft? A ball should be hard and durable so that it can maintain it's shape. A softball would be no better then a bean bag... Zeb began the incantation that he had just heard "Ye lord. Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man." Pausing to take a breath, he rose his hand up, where a lumpy misshapen spherical shaped ball floated. At around eye level for him, he brought his hand down to create an afterimage of a red streak. Bringing his arms back up, to about chest level he drew another shorter line with the ball, leaving another line to create the afterimage of a cross.

"Inferno and pandemonium, the sea barrier surges, march on to the south. Hadou #31, Shot of Red Fire." Suddenly the ball became perfectly spherical, and shot forward at a curve, as well as the afterimage burning brightly. Unfortunately, the ball went high and to the side with an arc as his arm went in the same direction. Hitting one of the columns, the ball flashed into a pillar of fire, reducing the pillar to a cinder. "Damnit..." Zeb sighed in frustration "I shot high and wide..." he looked at Lerato "What did I do wrong? And what the devil is a softball?" He looked at the dummy again, and saw it as Mussla, smirking at him again. "Nevermind... I'll figure it out by myself..."

Zeb sat down, and began to draw a few diagrams in the dirt. "From what I can tell, my affinity to fire made it so that I can control the basic trajectory of the ball. What I don't understand is the power output. From the amount of energy I input, it shouldn't have done more then chip part of it, but the output was higher then the input." The giant mused to himself as it began to click in his mind. Finally a light when in on his mind "My cross..."

Standing up again, and nodding to Lerato, Zeb spoke a few words to him; "Get back a bit more... I'm going to go bigger... and smaller." Clasping his hands together sharply he began to recite the spell. "Ye lord. Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man." he paused as he began to let the energy flow out at an exponential rate; the small ball he had growing in his hands rapidly inflated to the size of a large beachball "Inferno and pandemonium, the sea barrier surges, march on to the south. Hadou #31, Shot of Red Fire." He finished the incantation as he began to push his hands together while stopping to flow of reiatsu to his hands "Flamstel Special." He added at the end as the ball condensed to the size of an apple and burned with a great intensity.

He then threw it at the dummy, and aimed it perfectly with his hands. It barely clipped the dummy, but the explosive power was so great, that nothing could be seen by either the caster or the viewer for a few seconds. Once their vision cleared, they saw a charred hole in the ground, about a meter across, and no dummy to be seen. "So how'd I do Lerato-san? I had more control, but the power is still to much..." Zeb looked crestfallen at the results of his own take on the technique. "What I need to do is meditate after this, so that I might control my energies more effectively and efficiently."
PostPosted: Wed Dec 29, 2010 5:23 pm

"You did good Zeb, but you're right; you do need to go back and some point and get your energies more under you're control. Think about it this way, if you had just been sparing with an unseated member, you would have roasted them alive. But don't look so glum. You're getting the hang of it." He smiled, lifting a finger at the man to signal for him to stay there for a minute. Jogging over he looked down into the charred crater, shaking his head softly. "Alright, I guess the next one we should go over is Yellow Fire Flash. Now, unlike Red Fire Cannon, this kidou will be more like a wave. You want it to spread out, and looking at your previous attempts, that should be fairly easy for you." He chuckled and took up a position next to his peer.

"The beginning concept is the same. Build up reiatsu," his voice was low, but still very clear as he gathered the necessary energy into the palms of his hands. After locking his hands loosely together he continued with, "concentrate on the form, then release. This hadou has no incantation so you only have to remember the name. Hadou #32, Yellow Fire Flash." Giving the spell a slight push he watched as it spread out across the coliseum, engulfing three fairly spaced targets at once, leaving them with a slight char. Turning around to face his current student he waved back towards the burned dummies. "And there you have it. Fairly easy and useful in a pinch due to a lack of an incantation." Patting the man on the shoulder he jogged away, standing a fair distance away. "Now, how about you give it a try?" The smile was audible in his voice, his happy demeanor standing in contrast to the gruffness of the years in the first squad. 'He's certainly making quick work of these...'

"Very well..." He sighed as he watched his peer perform the technique. After it was completed, he noticed how it moved and acted "So, in essence, the object of the technique is to cut with pure energy... The only problem with the actual technique that I see is that it is easy to jump over the energy..." Zeb analyzed the technique and began to think of counter measures. "The best way to maximize the technique is to stack it upon itself, and to put them at angles. This would ensure maximum coverage, while putting them at different heights..." he again sighed as he closed his eyes and began to form the image of the ball elongating into a wave-like blade of yellow energy.

Tapping into this reiatsu, he also drew his zanpaku-tou. "Slice to the core, burn the soul Eefret Hikanakon!" Zeb cried as his reiatsu burst forth until he could draw it in. Almost instantly the area around him became uncomfortably hot with the reiatsu burning off of him. "And this is why fire-type Kidou work for me so well..." he exhaled as he gathered the reiatsu into him further. Holding his zanpaku-tou out in front of him, the blade facing away from his person, he recited his own spell "Blinding light cuts thy souls with an indescriminate justice. Hadou #32, Yellow Flash Fire." He spoke calmly as the energy began to build in front of him with a steady pace, his reiatsu forming the ball of yellow fire, and then elongating yellow blade infront of his own blade.

The reiatsu began to mix in an odd way, with flames licking up from the edges of the blade. Noticing this, Zeb began to slow down the reiatsu at the wrong moment. As it began to fire, the energies blew up violently. "Gahhh!" Zeb stopped the technique just as it blew outward, and then inflated, barely moving away from him. And then it blew up. Fire raced around him, scorching his clothing, singing his hair, and lightly burning his body. And then suddenly, it vanished, and his reiatsu slightly spiked again, and then went back down. "GODDAMNIT! What the hell was that Lerato-san?!" He cried in anguish as he wiped the soot off of his face "It began to grow flames out of it... What happened there?"

[For anyone lurking, this post is acting as an intermission to keep post quality up and was agreed upon by both participants in the training. Also, this post is tentative.]

Lerato watched as the flames licked their way up the spell, randomly expanding to create an incredible boom. Letting the heat wave dissipate around him he couldn't help but feel sorry for the man attempting to learn kidou. "You never went to the academy... did you?" He chuckled, slowly walking his way over to Zeb. "First off stop trying to analyze a technique on your own. If the kidou were meant to cut, then it wouldn't be called what it is, now would it?" He asked, crossing his arms in front of him. If the man wanted to get up, he'd have to do it himself. "Think about the kidou you know; Thrust, Pale Lightning, Restrain, Repulse. They all act in a similar way to their namesake. Why would the nomenclature of kidou suddenly change when it reaches this one?" He tried his best to keep the rudeness out of his remark but failed to do so even by his own standards. "Look, I don't have a problem with you trying your own techniques, or that you add your own pizzazz to the incantations, but for the love of god at least get the hang of what your doing before you do it, okay? You're going to end up killing yourself and I can't be responsible for that." Letting out a long sigh he turned and walked a good distance from the beast of a man and sat down.

Placing his own zanpukatou to the side he waited, forming the words carefully in his mind before speaking them aloud. "You wanna know what happened with your spell?" The question, if you could really even call it that, was emotionless, penetrating eyes scoping out the vice captain of squad twelve. "You were overly cocky. You thought you could call upon the resources of your zanpukatou and it's abilities to amplify your kidou before you properly had control over it." His words were harsh and bitter, almost as abrasive as sandpaper against the baked soil beneath them. "Don't get me wrong Zebediah, you are certainly strong, and easily as arrogant as I am, but you are also new to the art of kidou. Normally one would learn these spells gradually, going up from level to level as their control over their own reiatsu became more and more refined. You, however, opted to train for a large amount of them rather quickly. For that I both applaud you and scold you." His eyes had become heartless in just a few short seconds of talking. The usual lustful glacier blue darkening more to a shade of slate. "You are brave for attempting to learn the spells so quickly because as you can tell, the consequences for back-firing one can be...less than pleasant. It seems though, that you were never properly schooled on the mechanics of the demon arts. There are three main parts to a spell;" to emphasize he lifted three fingers into the air, "filling and buffering, summoning, and finally the release. When any one of these three is messed up you can end up with a back-fire. You were able to summon the hadou fine, and your release would have went over without much of a hitch either, but you messed up on the first part. You called upon the power of your zanpukatou without being able to properly buffer it. The more power you have forced into a particular spell, the more concentration is required to keep the power in check. If the power is left to grow..." he faded off, waving his hand forward as if to say, 'well look at what happens.'

"Now, get up!" He barked, for once showing that he did in fact have a dominant side to him. "Do it again. We'll do this again and again until you learn how to properly buffer your kidou for use. You have great potential, Zebediah, but I have to know for a fact that you can even handle these before moving on to potentially life threatening spells." And though he might have been playing it up a tad, the meaning was clear. Before he could advance to more complex spells, he'd have to first be able to at least control the ones he was currently being taught. After all, a back fire on Abolishing Flame wouldn't end well for either of the two men.

"I am overly cocky. And I never do ANYTHING half-assed..." Zeb rolled backwards, and jumped to his feet. Holding his blade upside-down, the the blade pointing away from him and his palm on the base of the hilt. "If you understand everything so well, you'll understand someone like me, with an ego like mine... Once I set on my path, I'll follow it to the end." And with that, he began the incantation, while letting more of his reiatsu out. "If I cannot control it, then I will push it off." His rage was obvious in his eyes, and contorted features, normally so happy, now filled with a blinded rage. As he inhaled, the rage seemed to mount, along with his reiatsu.

And then he exhaled. And in an instant, his rage had all-but vanished, yet the oppressive reiatsu lingered. In a calm, and collected voice, he spoke clearly, allowing the words to carry his reiatsu and to form the kidou. "Blinding light will incinerate thy soul with an indiscriminate justice. Hadou #32, Yellow Flash Fire." Zebediah then allowed the flow of the words to release the reiatsu, which still had the licking flames. "I fail once. And that is all it takes for me to properly learn the technique..." he muttered as the energy took shape into a ball, and then formed into a large arc-light blade, it seemed to burn like the fires of hell itself.

As he exhaled one more time, the blade shot forward, aimed not entirely at the dummies, but also at his 'sensei'. The blade of fire arced out, engulfing the entire room. "You forgot one point; if you do not force energy into the Kidou spell, and rather allow the Kidou to draw out the necessary power, it will go on without a hitch. The incantation gives it form. Which is why I always chant something, for it helps my mind to imagine the shape and power of the technique." Zeb smirked as he turned around "I am not one of those useless peons who would be shaken simply because you have drawn out a fit of rage. "And such tactics only enrage me further 'Sensei'." His tone was obviously bitter. "We will have that match later, and I refuse to do anything other then win..." A flicker of an image of a beautiful woman wrapped in flames and steel went in and out of existence behind him "Eefret is the same way. She told me to tell you that if you continue to insult us, she'll kill you. I have to agree with her."

He stood with his shikai slung over his shoulder and the image still flickered in and out of existence. Behind Zeb, 2 dummies were burnt to ashes, and the arc continued to leave a large scorched line embedded in the side of the coliseum. "I am not good at Kidou, and no, I never attended the academy. I was self-taught in Kidou for my Master never bothered to learn them. But what I did learn from him is that will power will always beat those with intelligence."

In a flash of purple-hued light a disc burst to life. "Hadou #54, Abolishing Flame." A quick flick of his wrist was all it took to send the spell flying at it's opponent, and though slightly underpowered it was still strong enough to crash into Zeb's amp-ed up fire and stop it from washing over him, undoubtedly burning him. "I understand your ego. But you must also see that without some way to piss you off, than we could have been standing there all day while you tried to get it right. All I did was help you along." Walking over to where the giant of a man stood he lifted his finger, "You forget that not everyone is able to allow the energy simply flow from them as easily as you do. Some people need to learn how to draw it out, and it's a good thing to. When you force the energy into the kidou you practice control. That is the key to kidou. If you are able to control the spell; if you are able to force it to bend to your will, than the limits on how the spell can be used are infinite." Reaching up he pointed to the middle of the man's forehead, mere centimeters away from him. "And while the incantation may help give the spell it's form, it is really that thing taking up space in your head that manifests and holds the form. It is for this reason that silent casting is possible." After walking a short distance away he called over his shoulder, a light snicker audible in his response, "By the way, should you try to hit me with a kidou again, I'll pin you against the wall and give you a reason to be bitter. As for your zanpukato, however, tell her that she may try all she wants. My Queen will forever be at my side to dismiss the onslaughts of harlot spirits. Now, shut up and pay attention because you're will alone won't teach you more of the demon arts, alright?"

Turning his back he raised his left hand and, in a flicker of blue, allowed his natural energy to exude from him. Gathering the blue flames into a tightly packed ball in his hand he recited the incantation, letting the words flow from his lips like the lyrics of a morning songbird, "Ye lord. Mask of flesh and bone, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man. Truth and temperance, upon this sinless wall of dreams unleash but slightly the wrath of your claws. Hadou #33, Blue Fire Crash Down." Once the incantation had been spoken Lerato exhaled, watching as the flames rushed forth from his hands in a thick beam of fire which immediately incinerated his target while leaving a wide blackened circle of soot to reveal the perimeter of where the spell had collided with the training area. "This kidou is very similar to Red Fire Cannon, but obviously with a much greater force that covers a much larger area."
