Snow had began to fall ever so slightly around him. Red, lots of warm red trickle or blood came from his nostril. He'd had a rather nasty run in with what had appeared to be a coyote. He'd been deadly wrong.. He'd gotten his tail handed to him in a scuffle with a 'walker'. His eyes were closed and his mane splayed around his head in a tussle. Shallow breaths was all he was taking . He had a few wounds who's bleeding was beginning to stop now. still the snow around him was stained blood red. Head wounds always bleed the worse and this one had caused him enough pain to loose consciousness.

Blood. The smell filled Mary's nostrils. She would know that scent anywhere. A smile flitted across her face. Delicious. Some one needed her. One of her children. She could sense it. It was time to be done with the distractions and side trips she had been taking lately. She was a Goddess, and as such, had a duty to perform. Her children must come first.
She walked, following her nose until she spotted the stallion in question. From the shadows she watched him move, more importantly, watched him bleed. Yes, she was needed.
Her mirror slid silently ahead until it came up in front of Shilo. She moved so that when he would be forced to look into it, she would be behind him. It was how she greeted her children, over their shoulder in the mirror. Her familiar had scampered off to hide in the bushes, awaiting need. All was ready. It was time to meet her child.

The glint reflected into his face causing him to open his eyes and lift his head from the ground. Oh how his head throbbed with pain. His hulking size alone didn't help him much on the ground. He saw the source of the glint, a looking glass that to him seemed a pool of ever still water tilted in a way so that he could see himself in it. His coat was matted now with the blood, dirt, melted snow he was a mess. Still this peculiar pool was a strange thing and in an attempt to stand, he only caused his stiff body more pain. Groaning, his head flopped back on the ground, his green eyes closing once more, all was black for him yet again without even seeing the figure in the mirror.

Mary lowered her face to him. "It's okay, my child, I am here. The Dark Goddess is here for you. Soon you shall be stronger, my child. Soon." She smiled and nodded. "Taiphos. Begin digging."
The familiar dashed into the open and began digging. Mary went over and shed her blood into the soil, softening it. It was her gift to her children, her own blood used in the soil.

His ear gave a small twitch but nothing more. He was still alive and sleep was probably something he could do with. The voice that cut through the darkness sent shivers through him. It was eerie, unknown to him. Was he going to be buried alive? Who would bury a still living stallion? And more off.. who did that voice belong to?? The more he tried to think and stir himself back to consciousness the more his head throbbed. He gave another grunt and groan with a labored snort.

Between Mary and the familiar, they quickly got the grave dug, wide enough and deep enough. She plucked hair from her own head, slick with blood. She and the small raccoon wove the strands into a thin rope. She fetched a bell and tied one end to the top of the bell. Then she moved and shifted, nudging the larger stallion into the grave. It took some shoving, but finally she heard that oh so satisfying thud of a body landing in a grave. Whoops. She hadn't meant for him to fall on his head. Ah well.
Once she pushed and shifted him so that he was fully in, she grabbed his hair in her teeth, pulling his head to the top. she then forced open his mouth and placed inside it the other end of the rope, so that he could pull it. She sprinkled him with her blood in a ritual way, then covered him over with soil. She made sure the bell was upright.
Normally she would leave now. However she felt compelled to stay this time. Maybe it was because her child had not yet had the chance to look his Goddess in the face. Maybe it was because the things Tempest said had stung. Maybe it was part of evolving as a Goddess. Whatever the reason, Mary stretched her limbs, then settled in to wait.

Weight and cool darkness all around him, he couldn't move. what was worse, he wasn't able to take in any air. What was happening? Panic started to take hold of his mine in that fight or flight type of way. Still he had to remain calm or make things worse than they already were. Shifting, moving.. he tugged on the only thing he could feel, a rope of some sort. This day had gone from bad to worse. Now he attempted to wiggle and see if some way he could wiggle himself out from under the ground. The dirt filled his wounds and caused them to sting, causing him to grit his teeth around the rope.

Mary listened to the music of a bell rang in vain. He would grow, her child. He would fight his way to freedom after realizing no one would help him. And from that, he would draw strength, he would become... more. As she had.
"Come, my child," she whispered, too soft to be heard. "Come, rise, stronger and new."

He wiggled even more feeling he was making some sort of head way as he fought for his life. Finally, Air! Cool, crisp, fresh air. His nose had broken through and he took the welcome air in with a gasp. Gritting his teeth once more, he struggled and wiggled about till finally he crawled up out of the pit that he'd been buried in. Giving a hefty shake, he sent dirt flying all around him, spattering the snow around. Opening his eyes now, green eyes peered about for who, or what had buried him. this day was definitely not a god one and he didn't see things getting any better at this rate.

Mary Strode over to him. "Welcome back, my child. You have done well, you have pulled free, and survived your trial by earth. For this, you will be stronger." She smiled warmly. She had never stayed to see a child reborn as she had been. There was something... rewarding to it. Perhaps this child would be the first to be graced with a second challenge.

He cocked his brow at the mare who'd come forward. "Are you a loony? You mean to tell me u buries me while I was still living?" He wasn't usually an ill tempered stud, but this had just been far too bad of a day for pleasantries. He gave a snort and turned his back on her. "Thanks for near death you loony toon..." He seemed to puff up with his anger his fluffy tail almost bristling as he stalked off. Heavy hoof falls thudding a deep sound echoing his annoyance with this mare. She had to be a banana short of a bunch to call him her child. let alone bury him in the dirt while he was still breathing. His head throbbed, his wounds stung and dirt wasn't making anything any better. the rope, he'd dropped along the way, purposely kicking the bell and trying not to limp now. She'd struck a nerve. one to make him just wish to stand there screaming and yelling.

She turned and delivered a sharp kick to his rump with both hind hooves. She turned back to face him, filled with fury. "How dare you speak to your Goddess in such a way. On your knees, child or I shall put you there!" she ordered, blood flowing freely down her legs in her ire.

He didn't eve offer a flinch when he was kicked. Oh she wouldn't hurt him that easily no matter how much pain he was already in. He wouldn't give her the satisfaction of seeing him grovel. He wouldn't do it before when the lead of his old herd had attempted to force him to grovel and submit to the way she wanted him to act. He wasn't doing it now. Cocking his ears back, he snorted and continued to leave. Walk away; he told himself. Ignore her and just leave, now's not the time to loose your temper. Still he trudged on, making his way towards where he knew his new herd to be. Goddess beh; he gave another snort as he thought. No goddess of mine.. She's loonier than I thought.

Her mirror swung to block his path as she followed, advancing on him, filled with divine fury. She offered him the greatest of gifts and he turns from her as soon as he was blessed? How dare he? HOW. DARE. HE?!

He stared at his reflection and snorted once more. "Move this contraption or i SWEAR I'll destroy it by some means." His tone became gruffer almost the sound of a growl before taking a step to the side. "Put that thing in my face again and you'll be missing it." His temper was flaring as his left eye gave a small twitch though it was hidden behind his forelock. He stomped a massive hoof before trying to proceed with his get away.
