Three hours of sleep...
It was actually better than it sounded. Three hours was enough to function for a day. Especially for Sova. She rubbed her tired, red eyes with an over-sized sleeve and yawned. She could get through this.
Her thick hiking boots clunked on the sidewalk as she made her was slowly to the book store to pick up the astronomy text book that she wanted so badly. She didn't really stand out among all the other citizens in town. She was just another girl trying to get through the day and accomplish normal, daily tasks. So very much unlike the people who's silhouetted faces littered the news papers she passed by. She didn't do anything eye-catching. Even in comparison to the average school-girl, she was forgettable.
Perhaps that's what made her insomnia seem bearable. There were no real expectations.

Despite the girl not doing anything particularly eye catching, she had somehow managed to catch something's attention. It lay in wait. Yes, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike. That something shifted its weight from foot to foot in anticipation.
There was a second something that had also managed to focus in on the girl This second something was far cuter, covered in pale fur, and had a little bell about her neck to liven up her steps. Said something trotted out of one of the alleyways as the girl passed and proceeded to follow her.
There was nothing super unusual about a cat wandering about the streets. However, there might have been something a bit strange about a cat a girl had never met before following her. Even stranger, the cat had a silvery star upon its forehead. That wasn't very common, now was it?

Tink tink tink.
What was that annoying little noise? And why didn't it go away? Sova turned, eyes narrowed, and focused first on the purple bell tied around the cat's neck, and then on the cat as a whole. Had it been following her? It had a bell, so it must belong to someone. Plus it didn't exactly look like a rugged alley cat.
She glanced around the street, searching for someone who might know something about the ball of fluff trailing after her, but when no one made themselves immediately present, she was forced to focus on the cat. It was almost creepy.
"... You think you're cute, don't you?"

I am very cute, thank you very much, but it isn't relevant right now! the feline thought somewhat smugly to herself. However, the manx offered a slight mewing sound in response to accent the fact that this cat was indeed cute. She then padded forward, seeming to draw close to the girl's ankles.
You know you want to pick me up... you know it, right? A triangular ear flicked slightly as something seemed to hit her senses. There was a youma nearby.
Foot, foot, foot, foot.

Sova couldn't help herself. When the cat drew nearer, she reached down to scoop it up, pleased by the feel of its fur. Whether she was irritated or not, Sova couldn't bring herself to be angry at something that was, indeed, pretty damn cute. She couldn't really place the blame on it for trying to follow a stranger, especially if it were a house cat and used to human interaction.
"Why're you following me?" she asked as she put and index finger to the star on its forehead. She narrowed her eyes and rubbed it gently, wondering what exactly it was. Perhaps some cruel prank by a miscreant teenager? Or was there a breed of star-faced cats?
Moving slowly, her boots scuffing against the concrete as she dragged them, she slowly wandered closer to the youma, unaware of it's presence.

The small animal seemed rather friendly, easily allowing the girl to scoop her up and leaning into every single petting finger. Even the touch to the star shape on her forehead seemed to be okay.
In an effort to stop the inevitable encounter with the monster up ahead, the feline then rather plainly replied to the girl's question.
"It is because there's danger up ahead and you should probably slow down." A pause, then an additional comment. "And I'd like to think I am cute."
