The day was only just beginning. Are'nui had went to his spot and got a nice stash. He kept the giant leaf full of his treasure right next to him. Today was his day off, afterall, and he planned on using it to his heart's desire. Perhaps he'd see one of his relatives, or even better, a cub! He could only hope.
As he went towards the shore, he kept himself hidden as he waited for someone to wander by.
She'd woken up with the sun, a rare thing fore Feana to do. The pink and silver female had taken the opportunity to find one of the fresh water pools and bathe herself. Her fur was feeling so dirty from all the sand and salt in the air. Now she was clean, and wandering amongst the early risers of the pride. There were plenty of cubs running amuck, just not related to her. No, those ten tiny babies were still sleeping and would until half way through the day. Then Feana would hurry back to help her sister. It was a good feeling, being around the cubs. She missed her own desperately. Those little paws running around, the giggles and screams of joy and laughter.
Now she was heading toward the shore with flowers in her mouth and a sad thought in her head. It wasn't unusual for her.
While he waited, he ate a few of the berries he had with him. They were so yummy....not that his face didn't hide it as his muzzle was slightly stained purple.
It didn't take long for a familiar figure to come into view. Ah! This was just too perfect! He waited till she got a bit closer and tossed a berry at her, hoping that it'd get her. And no sooner had he tossed it, did he duck his head, not wanting her to know exactly who did it just yet. Just like a little cub.
She felt something peg her ear and she turned to see who threw it and what it was. Blue eyes found that no one was around, visably, and that made her narrow her eyes. Hm... Was one of her cubs around and playing tricks on her? She looked around now for what had pegged her and fout it was a purple berry. That was now squished on the ground, juice leaking out. "Ohh..." She smirked.
Using her nose, she picked up on a scent she'd only recently became aware of. "Seems berries are dropping from the sky now." Her voice was loud enough for him to hear, if he was still there. "Ah, well.
Ears flicked in the direction of her voice as he could hear her very well from his hiding spot. So it had gotten to her afterall! He couldn't help but to smile brightly at that. Perhaps his aim wasn't so bad afterall!
He paused for a moment before picking up a small pawful of berries and with his head peeked slightly to look at her, he quickly swiped them in her direction.
Rustling caught her attention this time, and she ducked down before the berries would hit her in the face. A few of them got her ears and the top of her head, but that was alright. At least she knew what direction they were being thrown from. So, on her belly she crawled, staying as quiet as she could.
Not hearing that nice, soft thud sound that the berries make when coming into contact of the body, he was certain that they missed. Or, that she had ducked and anticipated his move. And if that was the case, then he needed to be on high alert! Who knew what her next move would be.
A paw flicked towards his dwindled stash as he scoped them up closer to him. Ears swivled, trying to catch any sounds but found that the beach was quiet. Too quiet....and that kept him alert! His eyes darted here and there as he didn't dare to move, least he should get caught from his hiding spot!
She would go straight through the bush he was hiding in an attempt to tackle him to the ground. Feana was the master trickster here! So a little berry throwing wasn't anything compaired to what she was used too. Once she cleared the bush, she saw it was Are'nui and grinned, hoping to pin him to the ground with her tackle.
"So it's you throwing thing sat me!" She said, reaching down to n** his mane and tug on it, trying to be gentle. Feana tended to get over enthused about things like playing and tricking.
And before he knew it, a certain female had found him quite easily. With little time to react, he felt himself pinned down to the ground and Feana on top. Her playful nips and tugs didn't go unnoticed as he let her do that. And using that distraction, he reached up with his paw full of berries and dragged it across her face.
With a playful laugh, face and paw completely covered in a purple stain he replied, "My my, I have no idea what you are talking about, Feana! How could you accuse me of such cubbish behaviors!"
She let out a yelp as he smashed berries to her face and drug them all over her fur. Oooh she was livid. Or would be had it not been in play. She quickly got off of him and shook access juice and berry guts off her face before glaring at him with one eye. Some of the juice had goten into the other.
"How could I accuse you of it when you just rubbed berries all over my face?" She smirked and started attempting to get it off so it didn't stain too bad for too long. So, she licked at her paw and scrubbed her face with it, all the while watching him. "Just you wait, Are'nui... Just you wait! You'll wake up sorry you smeared berries on me!" Her threat was half hearted, and not threatening, but she had a plan.
The sight of a nice, purple streak on her face made him double over in mirth. "But Feana, it so matches your fur! I dare say, it is your color!"
He reached forward to lick a berry off her cheek, "I'm sure it'll all come out in a few days." And then he opened his eyes wide in mock panic, "Deary me! I must ask the crabs to guard my den while I sleep, least I wake up to something totally dreadful!"
She snorted at him and batted him away when he licked her cheek. In all honesty, she liked being touched and licked. The lioness had always been a creature of contact. She loved touching and being touched, even just a headbutt or wrestling. That's why she hated sleeing by herself. "If it's my color, you're a fish." She snorted at that and finished up her futile attempt to clean herself off.
"Oh, no you don't. Those crabs are on my side and we'll get you in the middle of the night. You won't even know what hit you!"
"A fish!" He paused to chuckle, "I am not sure if I should feel insulted or please at that remark!" He stuck his tongue out at her, which was purple from the berries as well.
He raised an eyebrow, "The words you speak are so false, Feana! I dare not think the crabs would betray me!" He faked a pout, "What could I have guard my den from the evil Feana here! I'll have to get the seagulls!" And then he couldn't help but playfully wave a paw at her remark, "Oh, try your best! First you have to find my den!"
There was a shift in posture. Crouching again, Feana stuck her butt in the air and wriggled it, much like a cub getting ready to pounce. "Drat! Not the seagulls! They've betrayed me for the last time!" She gave a growl and ran towards him, going to pounce and wrestle with him.
Laughter escaped her throat and a smile on her face, eyes gleaming. She looked just like she did as a cub now; just... a little bigger.
He laughed at her remark, "Oh, gotcha there!" At her posture, he knew what was coming before he could fully react and retaliate. It was no sooner that the words were out of his mouth that she came towards him.
With her weight on top, pinning him to the ground, he mock pouted, "Oh no! I've got a purple-stained beast on top of me! Save me, someone!" He playfully batted at her.
"I'll show you a beast!" her paws moved to his stomach in a vain attempt to tickle him. Feana hoped that he was ticklish, otherwise this would be completely uesless. Her tail swished this way and that as she tried to get his ear and mane, to tug and chew up. She kicked at his stomach lightly and flopped to the side off of him
Oh no! What were her paws doing?! His eyes widen in surprise as he squirmed and started laughing, "Fea---na!" He cried out between laughs. How'd she fine his ticklish spot so easily! All attempts to get her off of him were futile as he succumbed to the laughter from being so ticklish.
It wasn't until she flopped off of his lightly that he rolled over to his side as the laughs died down slightly, "Why you!" He cried at her before wiggling his way over to plop himself across her body, "Now you shall be my prisoner!"
That laughter made her laugh and grin almost evily. all in lay, of course, but it wasn't an innocent look. Then he tried to speak and it caused her to laugh even harder. Until he landed across her, that is. She oofed and gasped for air before whining and arching to get him off.
"You're so heavy!" Of couse he laid on her middle, where she couldn't buck him off so easy!
With a triump grin, he looked at her, "All the better to keep you from tickling me anymore!" He replied proudly, and besides, if she was heavier than him then there'd be a problem afterall!
He raised his paw slightly and brought it to her side, "My, Feana...it seems you still have a berry stain right here!" He brought his muzzle down to her side and blew a raspberry kiss into it, shaking his face slightly in the hopes that his whiskers would tickle her.
The arching didn't stop as she tried to buck him off. She couldn't even get herself to her paws to get up! "Let me up or you'll be sorry!" That was a very empty threat. She as in no position to threaten him with anything. The smaller silver lioness the froze when he brought a paw to her side. Just as she was about to say something, he rasberried her side and squealed in laughter. She had very cub like laughter, for her age, and started thrashing in earnest now. "A-are! Don't....! Quit it!" She said between snorts and giggles.
As she thrashed about, he made sure to have a nice, firm grip as he moved his muzzle on her side. The results were what he was looking for as he raised his head to laugh. Ah, what fun! After another raspberry attack on her side, he slide off right next to her with a proud smile that stretched from ear to ear on his face.
"I think, I'd taken my chances with you, Feana!" He winked at her playfully, not at all taken by her threat since he'd make sure to get her back...like war, almost! But really fun! Man, he hadn't laughed and played like this in such a long time with another adult, cubs were another story since this was considered "normal" behavior for them afterall. But adults can have fun too!
She panted when he rolled off of her and tried to get her laughter down to giggles, then chuckles before puffing at him. "You win, you win!" She was tired now! Who knew laughter would take that much out of you? The last time Feana had fun like this was when she was with Kenya, her first mate and her cubs' father. Natrually, the cubs were there with her, and they were doing the same thing; blowing raspberries on her belly.
Her own smile stretched like his did as she pawed his chest. "Ffff... You started this war, you know. Throwing berries. Is that the best you had to offer?"
At her proclaimation of him winning this round, he couldn't help but look at her, "Round one: Me!" He said proudly.
And then he shook his head with a soft chuckle, "War? What is this war that you speak of?" He teased playfully with a wave of his paw, "I did no such thing, unless you mean that I started some fun, then yes, I'll admit to that!" As if the purple stains weren't enough proof.
"And of course not, I was just getting warmed up! Who starts out with their secret tactic first?
Guh, she wasn't the young lioness she used to be. Feana was still gasping for air as he spoke and then snorted and rolled her eyes. This was a war! A fun one, but none the less. Are'nui just gave Feana permission to get him back, if he knew it or not, but attacking her first. Yes, it was all in fun, once again. She leaned up and nipped his paw before geetting to her own paws and shook the dust off of her coat.
"You just want to pretend that you know what you're talking about." She stuck her tongue out at him and then winked a bit before puffing her cheeks out. "So.. besides attacking innocent girls what have you been up too since I last saw you?"
After a few moments to catch his breath as well, all that laughter was good for the day. It would leave a smile on his face for the rest, that was for sure.
At her question, he stuck out his tongue, "I don't attack innocent girls! You're just an easy target!" Before he replied, "Honestly, not too much. Especially with another litter being born, I've just been on watch with the other guards at the borders...and when I'm not there, I try to visit and spend time with my family. I hope you have been well?"
"It's like a baby boom, I'm telling you. Watch, the next litter's going to be my mother's." That was a lie, of course, she didn't know if mom and dad wanted cubs again. Her son, however, mentioned something about his mate being pregnant. Or something. She didn't hadn't honestly paid too much attention because Sabbia's cubs had run a muck at that time. So maybe it was her turn to be grandmother.
It struck her just then that she'd be a grandmother if any of her litter had cubs. ".....Actually, I think my son migh thave cubs... I didn't pay toom uch attention to be honest.."
His eyes widen in surprise as he smiled at her, "It is! Plenty of little paws to be wandering the shorelines soon." He blinked, "Aww, Grandma Feana has such a nice ring to it!" He called her that, "Sometimes I wonder if I have any nieces or nephews, that'd be cool since I have lots of siblings."
He nudged her gently, "You hungry? I know I am, after my successful victory! You can join me, if you'd like to." He offered.
She snorted at his grandma Feana comment and rolled her eyes yet again. She wasn't old enough to be a grandmother! She was barely a mother. Truth be told, her mother practically raised her cubs because Feana would much rather spend time playing tricks and flirting. If she had more cubs, she wasn't going to do that. But she'd have to find a mate that stuck to her like glue, first. Hell, she didn't know if she wanted to be in a relationship anymore.
"Yeah, I'm hungry. Hopefully there's still something left." She nudged him right back and the hit his hide quarters with her tail as she walked past him.
Glad to have her company for a bit longer, he got up and followed after her. He knew of a great place to get some food that'd feed them both. And he assumed that there'd be much more fun after this encounter, it only seemed right to expect it, afterall.
"I'm sure there is, if not, I'll get us some!" He told her with a bright smile, and a belly waiting to be full.
