It was now Christmas Eve and it was quite a few days since Ainsley had gotten her snow globe from the store outlet and took it home to play with an enjoy. Ainsley had taken her snow globe everywhere around the house with her. She took it to bed with her and fell asleep to the melody it produced every night. It was one of the closet things she had to friends since she moved here aside for Octavian Oswald and Constantine Cyprian and the various Snow Dancers she had befriended. She wished she could include Night Knight on her list, but the bunny pillow was such a stoic fellow and never said anything to her! He guarded her safely each night though, and for that she adored him. Plus he was shaped like a bunny!
The small child didn't notice anything strange about the snow globe. She could have sworn it had said it would be there soon, but she couldn't be positive having only heard it that one time after she had woken up after an especially long and deep sleep. Even if the snow globe had spoken to her, Ainsley would still love the majestic and hypnotizing piece of glass work and parts. After all, she thought it was pretty normal for things to talk to her. It was new for a snow globe to, but she was perfectly calm and accepting about the whole matter.
It was a new day though and the small child was sitting on her bedroom floor with the snow globe placed gently on the floor. Beside her was Octavian Oswald who was discussing something about bunny politics that Ainsley just didn't seem to be listening to. She was staring at the snow globe, very intently. It was playing that wonderful musical tune each time she twisted the key around and set it back on the floor. She couldn't help but hum the tune to herself. It made her think of her prince, who would surely someday show up and rescue her and always save her when she was in trouble. A prince who would love her and only her forever and always.
The more times the child played the song though the more she thought she was hearing that voice again. The more she heard the voice the more she thought she thought there might be a person trapped inside of the snow globe. She found herself putting her hands on either side of the orb and staring closely into the glass.
"Hello?" She asked. "Do you need assistance?"
She had this rather worried expression on her face as she looked so closely her nose bumped into the glass and she pushed back a little. This had been the second time she could have sworn she heard the snow globe ask for help. The last time she could barely make anything out except for a countdown of three days which then proceeded into being a countdown for two days the next day when Ainsley repeated nearly the same activity as she had done the day before and today. Each time she did she heard that voice again and found herself grabbing onto Octavian Oswald, burying her nose into the fur so that just her eyes were visible over it: watching the snow globe. Today was no different.
"Dooo yoo neeed halp?" She mumbled through the fur as deja vu hit the child.
It was different today though. It was not like before. There was no countdown and she could hear what the voice was saying. The voice was telling her to go somewhere. To take the snow globe somewhere. Ainsley was not sure why there was a voice telling her to go to the town square and she did not normally like taking her snow globe outside into the cold where the glass may crack and break but she could not deny someone asking for her help. She definitely couldn't turn down the snow globe's own request to be taken somewhere.
She came to her decision. She would go to the town square and satisfy the snow globe's one request from her. She could not turn down the request of her precious snow globe friend after all. With her decision in tact, the small child tucked Octavian Oswald under her arm casually and then picked the snow globe up. She put on her shoes, and her coat but forgot to put on her gloves as well as her scarf as she opened the door and walked out in a very dazed -- almost hypnotized state as she listened to the melody play in her head.
She was not entirely sure where the town square was, but when she got outside she noticed something strange. She noticed other people with snow globes and they were all heading in the same direction. She followed the pack and headed to the town square with Octavian Oswald hanging over one arm and her snow globe carefully in her hands.
