((This is a PRP between Revolutionary Roniel's Xelloss and Faid Shadowlight's Caelius. It was originally done on AIM, but I'm logging it here to be useful! )) Faid's teepee and Roniel's teepee

Cael was a little lost, he didn't usually have trouble navigating but the short dark day and near permanant cloud cover made it hard to tell what way was what. Add to that the trees and snow and he had an added problem. So he was headed for the edge of the trees to get his bearings, damp and dripping a little from playing with the foal he had run into, having ended up covered in snow, but the little one was home safe and that was where he was headed, whe he knew which way to go...

Xelloss was lurking around doing not much of anything that day. He had thought about hunting down his favorite kirin to stalk and harass, but he was not immune to the effect of gloomy days. He had been too sluggish to do anything other than hunt down a couple rabbits for his meal. He was currently standing in the shade of an evergreen tree, watching the edge of the forest with a bored curiosity. When he saw a glimpse of movement his eyes narrowed with interest. Was it an animal, or another soquili?

Cael stood out like a sore thumb in this season, his vivid sunset pelt and yellowish pink antlers. He knew he was conspicious but there was nothing to be done about it, besides his antlers usually made others pause if they wished him ill. So he just carried on walking, unaware he was beign watched or who was watching.

It wasn't hard to spot the soquili now that he was looking. Xelloss looked at the outline of branched antlers. It was a cerynei. He didn't have much of an opinion on the breed, unlike unicorns which he loathed and skinwalkers which he had nothing but respect for. He slunk forward toward the cerynei. He kept in the shadows, though his dark splotched coat would still have been more suited for the night. He gave a little smirk to himself as he crept closer. How close would he be able to get before the cerynei would notice? He wasn't hungry enough to hunt, so this would just be a fun little game instead.

He kept walking, though after a time he started to get that feeling, slowing and then stopping. Giving a vague glance around, not really looking. but then he had no idea what to look for. Turning a little and taking a few steps into the sparse brush, heading off the path, his tiny tail not snagging, going back to his ambling along, not making much noise, thinking that his feeling might just be the voice in the back of his mind telling him to be cautious, he still had no idea he was being followed. But his thinking was that this path would make him harder to follow quietly.

Xelloss slinked closer and closer to the cerynei stallion. Though outwardly he was utterly silent, inside he was laughing. It would only be too easy to tear the throat of this one if he was in the mood. He rarely allowed himself to partake in such blatant brutality, but it was a nice reminder of what would be possible the next time he let himself. He was close enough now that he could smell the cerynei on every light puff of breeze that blew past them. That was close enough, he decided. Time for the reveal. "Why helloooooooo there," he said brightly with a big smile on his face, suddenly emerging from the foliage close to the stallion.

Cael's head just turned, he was not really prone to jumping even when surprised, but then he was too open to anything happening at any time to really be surprised. His pail eyes scanning over the other soquili, widening briefly having herd of kalonas, wondering what this one could want with him. Shifting his posture, standing more upright, the smile making him wonder, but making sure he faced the male. "Hello"

The lack of response was a disappointment to Xelloss. He had hoped for a gasp of shock at the very least. Sometimes soquili went running at the sight of him. He liked that too. Disappointed as he was, his smile didn't falter. Keeping up a mockery of cheerfulness was an ability he prided himself on. "And what are you doing around here?" he asked cheerfully with a hint of snark. "You'd better watch out. There are dangerous kalona around here, or so I've heard." His face became a mask of utter innocence with those last words.

Pondering what the Kalona said, thinking over it, thinking over things he had herd about them, never having met one he only had the stories of others to go on. He knew not all were evil, but then he had been told that more than enough were. So he pondered, did he give the benifit of the doubt or wait for proof that this one was not a killer... Had it not been just him he would probably have thought the worst, but then his choice would effect others, as it was he could afford to be open minded as it was his nature to be. "I'm sure there are, there are often dangerous things about."
