David watched uneasily as his charge's gaze flickered suspiciously over the cheerful shoppers dancing around them, their bags matching the brilliant red of the Star’s hair. The Chinese man shoved his hands further into his denim pockets as he turned his attention back to the cobblestone sidewalk, wondering just how much longer Prajna’s patience was going to hold. It’s around here somewhere…DAMN IT! David winced as a giggling toddler ran directly into the man’s lower abdominal. The child raised its large eyes to meet the intimidating gaze waiting for it a few feet up, before uttering a scared apology and bolting around him and back down the street, followed by a few other mischievous children. David sighed but quickly recomposed himself and redeemed his pace as he noticed… Prajna had not stopped. The Star’s expression was getting more and more agitated as giddy children and stressed mothers, men on their cell phones, debating prices and what was it exactly that their girlfriend or wife wanted, continued to bump into the Frei and pay it no mind. David let out a sigh as he hurried up. It was clear Prajna was going to ruin someone’s holiday any moment now.

Suddenly the Inverted Flame stopped and David managed to catch up with it.

Hey! Praj...You can’t just run off like that. Namini told you to stay close by. Crazies are out. She’d flip if something were to happen to you” David scolded, as he immediately recalled all the past troubles the Frei had caused him. “Lord only knows how much crap you get me into when you’re in my care…

Prajna turned its frosty gaze to David and then pointed to a sign, smirking now, “Maybe if David did not walk so slowly, Prajna would need not having to go fast more. Psh. David is man? Prajna does not think likely.

And with that Prajna entered the pottery store. David rolled his cloudy eyes and followed in behind it, thinking, “This better be worth this s**t.

Immediately, they were greeted by a pleasant atmosphere, one possessing a similar festiveness as outside but not as pungent. Prajna’s expression instantly softened as a young woman approached them, beaming with Christmas spirit, “Hi, can I help you? All of the pottery and dishware on display are currently on sale, 50% off. My name’s Cindy if you need any assistance choosing something out, then I’m ready and willing!

Prajna frowned at her disgustingly cheery voice and then pushed on by her, floating around the room at the blank plates and cups. David offered the woman an apologetic smile as he too began to peruse the shelves. As some children in the back pulled out their paints with the assistance of some of the employees, David let out a sigh. He was no good at this creative crap and definitely not at shopping. Well, not at this kind of shopping. Flowers, chocolates, jewelry, he could do, but sincere gifts for people like his sister? That was a little tougher. David examined a blank picture frame and tried to imagine the ugly paintings he could attempt to decorate it with.

Prajna stared hard at a porcelain piggy bank and wondered if Varun would like it. It had already purchased Vyn’s Christmas gift, but…Varun was a bit harder to shop for. If only he was here…

"Varun Effing Finch, come here," Kinsey growled, closing in on the snickering redhead. Just like that, he ducked, lowering himself and shooting beneath the cop. It wasn't often the young woman would confront the terrible sea monster, and she was quickly coming to remember why it was easier to just leave the beast be, most of the time. In the months following the tazing incident, the pair had grown further apart. Kinsey's family kept an eye on the red-haired terrorist when the young woman was at work. (Which was often, and not helping matters.) Varun didn't take kindly to being babysat, but at least he hadn't been arrested again.

But now, it was the holiday season. Kinsey needed to go gift shopping, and she very well couldn't leave the Frei home where he'd get into all sort of trouble. She couldn't ask her mother to watch Varun either; the woman had seven children, after all. The holidays were not an easy time for Mama Finch.

"If you do not get a warmer shirt on, so help me..."

"So help you what, Kinseeey Finch?" he sneered, hovering near the front door. His ribbon twirled, his bright yellow headfins pinning to the side of his head as he eyed the cop. "No one to help you here. Just Kinsey and Varun." A wicked, toothy smile. (Why a sea monster? What possessed her to catch a sea monster?) Tossing his head, he placed a pale hand on the door and opened it, slowly. "We go. If Kinsey wants Varun to where something else, she can put it on."

When the young woman approached, the Raevan twisted and whipped out the door. It was no great surprise, and Kinsey barely managed to get her wallet before dashing after the creature. She barely fell down the stairs trying to follow him; floating carried him out of their building and onto the street very quickly. It was there he paused, unsure of the direction of the stores. He had Christmas shopping to do as well! While he floated just out of reach, he did allow Kinsey to lead him down to an artier area of the city, head on a swivel as he gazed at all the Christmas directions. Kinsey had barely pointed at one store when Varun spotted a very familiar pair of people one store away.

"Prajna!"

But his fellow Frei had already disappeared inside the door, followed by his man. Without so much as a word to his guardian, he watched her step into the paper store before he made a dash for the...the...well, it didn't matter what store it was, Prajna was in there. Pushing in the door, he brushed by the cheerful lady without so much as a glance, raising himself to try and find the Inverted Flame. He was just here!

"Prajna?"

"Prajna?"

David nearly dropped the small vase he was now examining as his ears immediately keyed in on the stranger's voice: Varun. The Chinese man whipped around and confirmed his suspicions as he watched as the Leviathan drove this way and that, clearly looking for something...or one. The man scratched his hair with both hands, his expression a mix of self-hate and depression. He HAD to choose something like this! Where there were so many breakable things! Why hadn't he suggested a Build-A-Bear or something?! David scanned the aisles for Prajna. They had to get out. David couldn't afford anything more than three or four broken pieces of pottery, but he knew if he let things get out of hand, the two redheads would break a lot more than that.

Prajna, though, was still focusing on its pottery selection. At this point, it had completely missed hearing its companion's approaching call, as it leaned in to check out some mugs and dishes. Varun didn't use silverware or plates right? The Star dismissed the choices before fluttering about some more piggy banks and cookie jars. That's when -oof!- Prajna was about to cuss this person out, this brat who dare get in the way of the Star and its gift search when low and behold, it was the one person Prajna had wanted to see. Blushing out of surprise reaction, Prajna immediately flared its wings and then cracked a smile, "Ooh! Va-roooon~! Prajna just thoughts of you be having!"

Oh Prajna. Prajna always remember to say his name correctly, even if no one else could. Preening for a moment, the younger redhead twitched his golden wings. Before he could so much as greet his only friend, the spiny tips of his fins brushed the shelves, making the delicate pieces rattle ominously. Varun blinked, peering over his shoulder peevishly. No one was going to make him do anything he didn't want to. (If that meant being the bull in the china shop, so be it. The Leviathan was going to be anything he wanted to be.)

Twitching his wings again, the Frei restored his attention to Prajna, where it belonged. (For the time being.) David was nearby and Kinsey was still completely unaware in the next store over, but guardians were far from Varun's mind. The Reverse Flame was here! Ribbon twirling, the sea monster almost offered a hand to shake before realizing how silly that was. This was Prajna!

"Ask and ye shall receive," Varun purred, wings shivering before folding by his sides as he quoted a movie he watched recently. "Were they good thoughts? The idea made it unable to keep a wicked smile from his lips. "Is Prajna well?"

Prajna smiled ear from ear, still possessing a tint of pink in its pale cheeks as it nodded instinctively and raised a cold hand to the Levianthan's cheek. It had been some time since the Star had laid eyes on its fishy companion. Prajna stroked Varun's cheek in a surprisingly tender fashion as it replied, "Yes. Prajna thought of what Varun was doing now. If Varun missed Prajna at all. Really though...Varun...would use this ever?"

and with that Prajna reached for a blank piggy bank and presented it to the younger Frei. It tried to present it in a persuadable fashion, like those beaming women on those game shows, but Prajna wasn't sure if it was succeeded. David, who had been watching from an aisle over, thought not. The Star was making a fool of itself. ...The Chinese man glanced around looking for Kinsey. Was Varun out on his own!? How was he going to pry his charge away from the Levianthan now?! David gave the pair a moment as he tried to figure out some way of separating them...
