She'd packed on the pounds and become more plump since last she'd seen her father. Yes she was pleased she'd made herself well ready for the winter months, after all it was supposed to be the hardest time of the year, right? Still she was bothered by the quarrel she'd had with her dear friend. She'd stormed off in a fit and now was rather ashamed about her actions still as she thought about it, she couldn't help but to become angry. He shouldn't have persisted and made her more irritated.. It was all his fault!

Albert grazed peacefully by the swollen stream. It was dry grass, and it had lost all flavor, but it was something at least to try and chew on. And it would help with the hunger pains he knew he would soon be feeling. It had been raining non-stop, and he could feel in his bones that it was about to snow. But for now, he had to deal with the constant water.

Mera looked out over the land and smiled. She'd spotted the one she'd come to seek out. Her father would know what to say to help her clear her mind of things. With a happy nicker, she picked up her pace to a trot. "Hello, Having fun chewing on what winter has left us to munch on?" She tossed her head about some trying to get the wet hair from her face.

He looked up as he heard a nicker, and turned to see Mera trotting towards him. He whickered his own greeting as he continued to chew on the grass, swallowing the tasteless brown before answering. "Of course. I have all winter to look forward to it. How about you? Ready for winter?" She looked as though she had put on some weight, but she wouldn't feel the cold quite as much.

"Yup! I put on my winter bulk already!" She chuckled but frowned to see he hadn't fattened up like she had. "DO you stallions all stay trim during winter?" She cocked her head to the side some but nuzzled him affectionately as she reached him. Her smile soon faded as she looked at her father. "Sena and I had a fight..." She sighed and rested her head on his back slightly pouting.

Albert smiled, and nipped back at her. "I'm always in my trim. I just don't have a lot of luck filling out too much before winter comes. Ask your mother, I've always been like that." His smile faded as she rested her head on his back. "What about?"

She gave a hefty sigh. well about nothing.. and yet everything I guess.. It's my fault.. I was moody and he was just trying to help.. Only the more he tried to help, the more irritated I got. I actually started to cry and then.. I just lost my cool..." Sniffles. "I feel horrible about it.. I blew up and fumed at him then stalked off...."

Albert started nibbling on her mane. "It happens sometimes. Mera and I had the same happen to us, when she..." was pregnant. But he didn't want to think about that for the moment, especially concerning his daughter. "I sure you two will find a way to work it out. It's probably just a phase."

"I hope so... I just wish my mood wouldn't go flying off like it does.. I some times cry for no reason at all." She looked rather sheepish and huffed another small sigh. If this was what it was like to being a fully grown mare, then she surely wished she had never left her foal stage of life. Being a foal was so much the easier. "I'll have to talk to him sooner or later I guess... I just want to wait till my moods even out. So I don't verbally assault him again..."

Albert looked a little sheepish, but wasn't sure if he should tell Mera his speculation about what her problem was. But he would wait. Though it made him a little miffed to think that his daughter was carrying some stallions children. But, she was an adult now, she was a mare. Not some filly. He would have to trust her judgment.

Nibbling at his mane some she felt some what better just talking to him. "How's mother?" She lifted her head to look at him as she asked. She couldn't remember a time when she'd really seen her mother after she emerged from her basket. from day one it'd always been her father there for her.

"She's off exploring on her own. Being herself. Just as she always has been. She's doing alright, though at one point you may have brothers or sisters to watch running around." he grinned and winked at her. "though, don't tell her that."

"You mean she's not wanting them but you are?" She chuckled lightly. "Haha! you'll have to find me in order to make me baby sit..." She snickered some but felt a bit queasy. " I must have eaten something that my stomach didn't like.. I don't feel so well." She laid down even though it was still raining and she was getting her armor covered in the mud.

Albert watched as Mera lay prone on the ground, and reached down and nuzzled her cheek a bit, huffing in her mane softly. "it's alright Mera. It should pass soon." he started grazing around her, knowing he could do nothing but offer comfort from his presence. He was almost positive now, that he knew what ailed her. "So what else have you been up to? Wondering around like your mother I suppose?" He was trying to distract her with idle chatter and hew knew it, but he also knew that sometimes it worked.

Nodding she smiled. "Yes, I've been wandering around, mostly with Sena.. till recently at least..." She shrugged some. "I met a mare that seemed rather lost.. but she asked about the two-leggers... Have you ever met a two-legger father?" Her ears perked as she looked up at her father, the question written on her face clearly.

"I have met a few, but I don't make a habbit of crossing paths with them. But in my travels, I have come across them. What did she want to know about them.

"Nothing really she just was interested in them... said most the ones from her home land were very cruel and would steal away with the uni soquili for their horns..." She shrugged but suddenly turned an unpleasant shade of green as she nearly lost her breakfast. "I think I'm coming down with something.. I should probably go find a dry warm place to hold up in so you don't get sick too..." Sighing, she stood up and looked around for any near by caves to make a short time home in.

Albert nodded. "I have heard of those two-leggers, and have seen them. Not all of them are cruel. There are some nice and wonderful ones. But you always have to be careful when coming across them." He offered Mera his shoulder as she tried to rise, and gave her support. "there are some trees nearby. They have a pretty good coverage still. They are pines."

"Thanks, They'll be at least a little warmer than being out here in all this cold rain." She smiled and nuzzled her nose into his mane affectionately before making her way towards the pine trees, stopping to itch some at the unreachable itch her armor pinching her belly had made. She'd be glad when winter ended and she lost all this weight.

Albert lead her towards the thicket of pines, his footfalls muffled by the thick layer of pine needles on the ground. It was a little dryer here under the trees, and it would serve his purpose well.

With a smile, she made herself a cozy little spot to rest once they got under the trees. "Thanks. This is definitely better than standing in that down pour." She gave him another smile and adjusted herself so that her armor wouldn't pinch.

He moved his head back, and starting itching her around her armor line. "That it is." He raised his head and started itching at his own shoulder. "It's just going to get worse. It's like that around here."

"Feels like it's going to get colder too." She looked out at the rain and sighed. "It snowed a little on the mountains I could see it the other day where I was..." She shook her head. "Seems like such a miserable time of year....." She wasn't too sure she was going to really like winter that much.

He nodded. "yes, it is, but without the rain and the snow, we wouldn't have the grass. We just have to deal with it." He tilted his head a bit. "I am sorry to say, but I am curious. You never told me what you and Sena fought about."

She sighed some, looking back up at him. "Something rather stupid.. " She glanced at the ground. "I was grouchy and he just wouldn't drop it.. kept asking what was wrong when I just didn't know.. the more he pried the more angry i got.. I don't know why.. I just did..." She sighed some.

He thought for a moment, and wasn't sure he wanted to bring it up, but he was curious. "what is your relationship with Sena Mera. I know you're a grown mare."

"We're really good friends. He's pretty much my best friend you could say." She gave it a shrug not thinking about this question much. "He's not exactly the kind to make too many waves so we usually get along easily."

Albert couldn't help but smile. "And it was never anything more then that was it?"

She blinked looking up at him for a moment. Was he getting at what she thought she was trying to get at? Sure she and Sena had had a small... moment.. with one another but nothing more than that one thing and they figured they were better off as friends than anything else. "We're just not that way with one another, father.. " She shook her head once more avoiding giving a definite answer.

Well, that approach wasn't going to work. He folded his front legs under him, and settled into the pine needles, thinking for a moment, on how best to approach her. he wasn't one to pry, and usually left things alone, but sooner or later, she was going to find out what he was pretty sure he knew.

She snuggled in closer to him and leaned her head against him. "You're wet.. You'll catch a cold if you don't stay warm.." Chuckling, she turned her head and nibbled at his mane. "What would mother do if you became ill while she was away??" She grinned. wide as she teased him. She knew her father really cared for his mate and hoped some day that they would give her more siblings to tease and play with.

He smiled at her, and nuzzled her back. "She would yell at me is what she would do, and probably give me a good kick for being sick and not having the decency to do it closer to home. And probably love up to me and take care of me until I was feeling better, then yell at me again." he chuckled at the memory.

"Well then, I guess we should keep you from getting ill then shouldn't we?" She chuckled and shook her head some. "Common, old man. We'd better find ourselves a place to shut up and wait out the weather that'd be warmer and this." She stood up and stretched out her legs some before nudging him with her nose."Up and at it."

Albert stuck out his tongue, then lay himself prone on the ground. "But I dun wanna move. I'll get more wet again." he smiled up at her.

Laughing, she rolled her eyes some and nudged him with a hoof. "Well the sooner you get up the sooner we can move, find a place to hold up and get dry again... besides you're still wet. " She shook her head and stepped out from under the tree and back into the rain.

"yeah, but that means having to get really wet again, when I was just starting to not feel fully soaked through." He rose to his feel then, pine needles stuck to his side, and followed his daughter. "you're acting so much like your mother before she found out."

She blinked at his comment. Found out? Found out what? She thought as she walked. She wasn't about to ask. it seemed he was already being difficult in that silly way her father had to him. "I think I saw a cave not too far off on my way here. so we shouldn't have to bee walking in this rain for too much longer. though at least there's plenty of mud now." She grinned, enjoying the squishy texture the wet ground gave as she walked.

Albert couldn't help but laugh. "you always have had a fascination with Mud. At least one of you gained some of my personality. That I am glad for." He was glad to know at least one of his daughters was in to getting mud in her hair and on her feet. He still missed playing with her as a foal, but all of them had to grow up eventually. For the fun of it, he reached forward, and tugged lightly on her tail.

"Hay!" She laughed and turned around to n** back at him. "Don't make me head butt you..I might not be able to run under you anymore but I can still play!." Grinning, she caught his cloak in the wind and pulled it over her head before turning and bolting.

He braced his feet, knowing what would happen next. She was bigger, and stronger, but she still didn't have that much distance to run with, so it wouldn't choke him too badly. He lowered his head, throwing his weight against the front of the cloak, and pulled forward.

Just as she hit the end of the slack on the cloak, she let it loose and continued to run. She' gained his size along with his fascination of mud and other qualities he had. She may have favored her mother in looks but in size and personality, she was all his. "Keep up! or have you gotten soft?" she laughed as she chided.

He sent a playful kick in her general direction, snorting and tossing his head. "Do you honestly think I couldn't keep up with a scrap like you?" He reared then, lashing out with his front hooves in a display of mock aggression. "The day I can't catch a mare is the day I hang up my cloak and spear." He pranced in a parade march for a few strides, then took off after her.

Laughing, she turned her head and stuck out her tongue. "Yeah, well you might want to get ready to pass it on old man you seem rusty!" She turned her head back and struck out faster, her legs stretching as she galloped. She knew if he really wanted her could out run her. He was in a fit state of health and she had packed on the pounds.

He kept his pace rather slow, but still making a chase out of it. He couldn't help but enjoy himself, and it wouldn't be too long before they didn't have time for games.

She chuckles as she spotted the cave not too far ahead. "Oh pick up the pace I can see the cave!" She called back, turning her head to see him. As she turned to look back for the cave, she ran smack into a tree limb, pine needles slapping her in the face. It was enough of a shock to cause her to stop and shake her head to get her bearings.

Albert shook his head with a chuckle. No matter how big she became, she would always be his little girl. Especially when she ran into things like she just did. He shook his head. "Mera, you need to go around the tree, not through it."

Laughing some, she stuck her tongue out at him. "I know that.. I just... erm... had an itch.. yeah.. that's it..." Rubs under her chin with the branch before finally going around it. The rain didn't seem like letting up any at all. "Come on, it's just up here." She nodded before stopping and pointing with her nose at the cave not but 6 feet ahead of her."it seems empty enough.. but then again it's why I have you here.. to be my big strong daddy and ward off the bad things" She chuckled

"yeah, sure. I believe you Mera. Really." He chuckled at her attempt to cover her brush with the tree, and he started to strut proudly at her terms, with a war-horse prance. "Of course."

She grinned wide, edging closer to the entrance and cautiously sniffing about. "After you oh fearless daddy of mine" She chuckled loudly and stepped aside for him. "Clear the way and I shall follow!" Another grin.

He walked by her, flipping his tail to smack her as he passed. "Oof course." He stepped into the cave, looking around, to make sure it was clear

She caught his tail full in her face and only shook her head. "Next time I may just bite your tail and tie it to a log..." She chuckled.watching him she perked her ears, entering slowly. "It clear?"

[golor=green]He looked behind him, and smiled. Well, I don't know. What do you think?" he grinned. "And if you bite my tail, I'll kick you."

color=cyan]She looked around some. "Looks clear enough." She grinned wide and found a nice place to settle down. Giving a yawn she looked up at him sleepily.

Albert smiled, and moved to lay down beside her, nipping at her neck a bit. "Come on little one. Rest up. I'll keep an eye on you."

Snickering some, she had a small reminder of being a foal once more when the two of them would play all day and then nap in the sun. "Alright.. I'll get some sleep. wake me when it's my shift.. or the rain stops..." With that, she rest her head against her father and closed her eyes, drifting off to sleep.
